A couple of years ago Walmart attempted to clean up their stores to be more "upscale". Turns out that people who shop at Walmart like clutter. Sales actually went down. People think they are getting more for their money when crap is literally laying on the floor or piled to the ceiling.
    O! The humanity!

I was in a WM yesterday and overheard a mom and dad arguing with the manager because a bike they had brought in to be serviced was on the rack for sale, "rusty spokes 'n' all!" I politely left so as not to offend them with my guffawing. I'm sure the 3 AC sets will still be there when I go back by. The open box Hogwarts was at 30% and they wouldn't come down at the time.
I almost started laughing when reading this.. Walmart's are horrible places and I feel 'dirty' just walking into one, and if there was no promise of extremely clearanced LEGO sets waiting in the back I would never step foot into one.
Basically Walmart's are the new K-Mart.. because I was in two K-Marts recently and they have cleaned up their stores (well better than before anyway) and Walmart's have gotten progressively worse.

I've never been in a Kmart that has been better in any way than the worst Walmart I've been in. And a lot of those out of the way small town, non-supercenter Walmarts are pretty bad.

Actually Kmart and Walmart are just about the same. Before my Batman Lego set issue I would say Kmart but I'm not even sure they would of done such a thing.

The condition of a Walmart often depends on location and how well run they are. Some are horrid and some are rather nice. It is just unfortunate that the horrid ones have the best Lego deals lurking deep within

Wow, that Walmart aisle makes my OCD scream in pain. Ouch. But not surprising for a store where wearing PANTS is optional.

    Oh peopleofwalmart.com - how much do I hate/love you.

Ewww... Gross. I mean, I wouldn't mind if they were at least attractive. ;)

^ Lol, used to joke about that with my kids earlier in the year. We went on a few Walmart missions together and soon enough they were picking up on that.

Went to the other store and found some 4865 for $1.75! That's like 85% off. Also found several 4867 for $25, 4738 for $20, and 4183 for $15.

That's crazy. I'm moving to wherever pumperx lives. :p

I waited for long time for further price reduction but I missed QAR and BP. I just grabbed two log cabin (5766) at $21. I know it's not a super deal but didn't want to let it pass by.
  • PoochyPoochy Member Posts: 479
^ I don't see QAR anywhere anymore, but BP is still full price at many places, so I'm sure you'll get your chances again :).
  • bsiu922bsiu922 Member Posts: 439
i Saw the QAR at Target on clearance, originally, 119, now 101 and waiting for it to go further down
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
I think there is one QAR left at my Walmart for $79.... I'll check tonight
  • dotknottdotknott Member Posts: 30
@kim43235 I want that log cabin. $21 is pretty good.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I got one for $15 in January during the after Christmas clearance and sold it on ebay. Wasn't till like March that I decided I wanted the creator houses and had to add it to my list to buy again. Seeing it at $21 hurts me since I got the one at $15. Even though it is probably still a good deal I just can't bring myself to buy them unless they go down to $15.

Wal Mart by me does one price reduction and then they let the sets sit until they sit. A few years ago they had a Soccer Stadium is badly damaged box at 10% off. I waited and waited for this set to be discounted further. I'd bring it to the scanners and it'd be the same price each time. Finally I saw an employee straightening out the clearance toys and asked him about this set and told him it was in the clearance section for over a year (there was a date other clearance red sticker) and asked if I could buy the set for a better discount. He told me to check with the manager who told me he'd take another 10% off. I passed, brought it back too the employee in the clearance section and he placed it in a shopping cart to be thrown out! They'd rather lose money than drop the price to a tespectable discount.

They, like other stores are hit and miss.

so you waited by the dumpster @bmwlego ?
  • dotknottdotknott Member Posts: 30
WM is nuts. I went through the aisle that I posted a photo of before.. the "Clearance" section. and NOTHING was discounted more than once. Some of the SW advent calendars they had weren't even stickered as clearance and I scanned the bar code, they were still full price in the system. If I were to bring them to the check out I bet I would have had to argue that they were clearance.

Still no further reductions at my local WM in Montana. I would like to buy the Potc Mill but not at $30. And their BP is not on clearance still, I have never seen QAR in person, lol. I keep scanning them like 5 days a week (after work, good thing it's only 2 blocks away). I also scan the Falcon just to be safe. ;) They did knock down their Kre-o Transformer sets further but only like 5 bucks. Already got Optimus and Starscream, all I need from those.
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
Checked my WM and there is still 3x QAR ($79) and 1x BP ($69)

I saw your earlier posting that you got it at $15 and I waited for further reduction. But I didn't think it's going to happen with my WM. So had to grab them when available. $15 would have been better though. Not sure how log cabin will do after EOLed though.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Yeah if you want one I wouldn't pass it up at $21. I already have it so the rest would be for resale. It's funny though cause 2 of the WMs I go to had Cabins a few weeks ago then one day they were all gone. Almost as if an employee picked them all up once they went on clearance.
  • kim43235kim43235 Member Posts: 165
^ You might want to check out other shelves, That's what happened to my WM. I thought they are all gone one day but they moved to different shelves with other clearance toys.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I've looked everywhere they could be. I've spent a good amount of time in my Walmarts =)

Has anyone else noticed their WM receiving large shipments of Friends Legos?? This store got over 25 City Cafes, 20 Oliva Tree House(19.97), 8-10 Oliva ? (the $69.99 one). This is a WM that doesn't discount much at all. Still has BP, older SW, and trying to sell 8-10 HP Knights Bus for $25 on clearance.

What's the deal with WM putting items on clearance, then jacking the clearance price up? Right after Christmas I went into my local WM and was surprised to see they still had the SW Advent Calendar for $21. Picked one up, thought it was cool, went into the store the next day to get another, and the price is $30! And now here we are in the middle of summer, and the store still has 20 - 30 of these sets on the shelves for $30. Seems like a waste.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
I've been to like 5 walmarts and haven't found anything on clearance or sale, it seems they've already been picked through. Today finally found one walmart with PotC stuff, well only the mill and they only had 2 for 30 bucks. Picked one up. Wasn't too happy about the price but better than paying a mark up when its EOL.

Still looking for cannibal escape and captains cabin.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@scotty12 All the WMs I've been to recently, and that includes on the road in another state, were pretty much out of Friends. Maybe it's taken them this long to restock after the initial shipment. Interesting development with the summer sets probably coming soon.

POTC and HP battle packs were reduced to $4 at the local WM today.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
With all the new Friends sets in the WM store I wasn't sure if it was going to be a 4th of July sale where the City Park Cafe normally marked at $29.99 was dropped $5 for a few weeks or month. I know WM did this before X-mas with the Star Wars and a SpongeBob set.
  • SquareSideSquareSide Member Posts: 170
Well 2 days later and they have marked all their HP and POTC stuff to 50% here in my local Montana store. I still passed on POTC Mill at $20(was $30). >_< I just decided I would only get the BP or QAR if I was going to buy a POTC set. I'm not a HP fan at all. They did have the Cars Red's Water Rescue set for $7 which I bought because of the price and I needed some grey and red pieces to customize my new LEGO X-Wing which looks extra sweet now. :D If they still have the Mill tomorrow I might give in, lol. They are still mocking me with the BP scanning at $99.96... X_X

I still looking for one or 2 of those QAR for $30-50 lol. Come on Louisiana!! Gotta find me and best friend one before I have to go back west. :) I did find a WM with BOXES of S5 but they weren't marked down even though they were on clearance aisle. $3.49 per minifig so keeping an eye on that WM too till I lea

No luck with decent discounts in my neck of the woods in NY. I picked up QAR sets for myself and LUGmates from KMart a few weeks ago for $30 so why would I spend $80 at Wally World?
  • PoochyPoochy Member Posts: 479
No KMart anywhere near me, so I picked up a QAR at WM for $80 about 3 weeks ago. Was waiting for the price to drop a bit more to either return/rebuy or pick up a 2nd one (I'm going crazy about pirate ships now), but then they all disappeared one day from every stores. Now I regret not picking up 2 at $80 :(.

I found a helpful WM employee who volunteered to knock $10 off any clearance set I bought when I asked him to scan one for me. Grabbed all the Hagrids Huts and Hogwatrts (the small RRP $50 one) for $20 each, a couple of Knight Buses for $12 and some Capt. Cabins for $3 along with a QAR.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
Wow! I didn't know there were such employees at WM. I keep asking different employees when or if the 'clearanced' Legos will go down more or if they're currently marking them down and I usually get the "I have no control over pricing, someone else does that". WM near me(Iowa) are still selling POTC Mill for $30 and Cannibal Escape for $20.

^Those employees are usually dressed a little different than the regular team members. Since they have to do a lot of box moving, you might see them with the supported backbrace or corset-looking overalls. Confirmation is if they have a weird looking price gun, those are the folks to look for. A few months back, one of these helpful Stockers volunteered to knock the BlackPearls from $75 or $80, down to $50 each. He did it for a few other sets too and brought them down to the lowest price possible, such as Harbor, Marina, Cool Cruiser, Forbidden Forest & Captain's Cabin Battlepacks. Some went as low as 70% off. Walked out with about $1K RRP for a little under $500 ($300 in 6xBP's alone).

Best of luck to all out there cruising Walmarts!

Went to the WM in Casa Grande and got 3 Perls for 69 each. They had several QAR and pearls left to.
