That said i just bagged a sealed chrome stormtrooper for £14.99 on ebay with free p&p.
Mate, I too am on the look out for a Chrome Stormtrooper. The listings for £14.99 with free postage on Ebay are not the sought after ones in a polybag but instead are a magnetic variant in a blister pack. I'm not too sure if there are any other differences other than the 'non-glued' magnet and blister pack.

I'm having a lot of fun with this topic.

I'll throw out another vintage one (and provide a link this time). But this one is actually a rare part, technically it was never launched completely as a fig. You'll get the drift of it.

It's the trans-black ghost shroud (also available in red and bright light orange - I'm a little skeptical of the authenticity of the red and orange though).

I've heard the trans-black piece was available randomly in a Lego System Basic bulk parts box back in the day. If that's true - it is a very rare instance that Lego introduced a "chase" part - like sportscards. (I'm not counting the Collectible Minifig Series in my comments).

I LOVE it! It looks like black chrome to me though. Is there a pic of it on a minifig?

flump, pm me an address and i can send you one in polybag if you want to cover postage from across the pond. i grabbed a bunch at a TRU back in the day for $0.01 a pop.

Not on Bricklink. I can envision one with a plain black torso, legs and a glow-in-the-dark head turned around (Snape or the skull head). That would look very nice.

Well, I won't pretend I'm not humbled by your generosity. Thank you @Furry. I have sent you a PM.

The sumo wrestler is probably the rarest of them all, and definitely worth more than any other figure already mentioned. Plus I've got loads of them to sell. ;-)

Funny we haven't seen a new Bane fig in the new series. Um ... Lego ... he's the focus of the movie this summer, fyi.

As I recall, the blisterpack trooper had a rifle while the polybag had a pistol. I don't remember any other differences but I didn't actually open them up. Additionally, the blisterpack sold for $9.99 USD so £14.99 doesn't seem too bad nowadays.

It looks like Furry's helping you out so that's very cool. If something falls through, I'm sure I have an extra I can throw in for you the next time I send pollies to the staff here.

^^@prevere, Bane is also in the new line-up as a fig from the Batcave 6860. It's amazing how prices did not drop with his rehash. Same with The Joker as @LegoPodcaster mentioned. The poorest performer from that series is the Penguin for some reason, not available this time around either.

    What about this guy?

Lego Star Wars Toy Fair Nuremberg Darth Vader

Guess in the end you pay because he's in a plastic wrapper...
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
^That's a good find, haven't seen that one of Vader before. The Light Up Mace Windu goes for ~$40.

The Exclusives and Promos from Comic-Con & Toy Fair have done very well in the market on a reliable basis, but that's due to rarity mostly. Its the regular minifigs that are a surprise sometimes and are real eye openers as to what's possible in terms of returns for common figs. That's why I believe Ninjago is a winner in the near future, just look at Kai's Cycle going over RRP while its still readily available.

I was surprised at the prices the Last Airbender minifigs are commanding. This completed listing was for the minifigs from both sets - still surprising:

    set 3829 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3829-1

Another Craigslist find. Sadly though, I think I'm missing Momo, the lemur.

Excluding promotional figures and toy fair figures, Cloud City Boba Fett wins hands down for all themes. He keeps going up too!
Cloud City Lando is passing the $100 threshold in bidding as well and probably is the second rarest Star Wars figure right now. (Again, excluding promos).

Thats why the price of the figure hasn't dropped at all. I expect the new bane to go up once superheros finish.

The batman sets have failed to come down generally as I think people are holding o to them waiting for the film and for superheros to go away. So the ones do sell are in higher demand.

You are totally right. Forgot about the Batcave. It is interesting that the initial Batman figs are holding, practically increasing in value. I just finished a Tumbler/Ice Cream Surprise and Arkham Asylum and getting a few of the rarer figs like Scarecrow was a bit rough.
  • SherlockbonesSherlockbones Member Posts: 411
    Isn't Yoda quite rare?

I just wish I picked up a shiny Stormtrooper, I picked a box up from Tescos and this little kid came picked the one behind and then saw him later open his and he got the shiny stormy, I did not..
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
^^They've been climbing fast since the new wave of Superheros. I wonder what will happen to the prices if Superheros becomes a permanent theme like SW. Especially if they don't rehash and just move on to newer characters (which is the strategy I hope they carry out). If so, I'll bet the farm Batman I will beat even the Cloud City figs of Boba and Lando as Samiam cited. Jedi-fanatics will not beat Comic-fanatics in a battle of the wallet, this I can guarantee.

Will each Super Hero set have it's own version of the character?....aka Boba cloud city.

Iron Man already has 3 different figs....Promo; circular arc symbol on chest; triangular arc symbol on chest.

I wish, but its only possible for some characters to begin with where their alternate version costumes/suits or appearances exist in the first place. Like the various Ironman (3 suits) & Batman suits (7 right now) as they evolved.

A good character for variants is Wolverine (Yellow movie suit, first trilogy black suit, origins movie leather jacket/jeans, brown/yellow Uncanny outfit with mask, black/yellow Weapon X), etc.

But take Superman for instance, how many outfits can you remember him in? Just 3 if you include a civilian Clark Kent and Bizarro. The Hulk gets 3 if you include Bruce Banner. But just imagine Professor X, Cyclops, Storm, Sabretooth. Slim pickings for alternates.

What other characters would have a lot of variants? We can't let Han Solo and Luke show the Heros up on this point can we?

@Yellowcastle, that's very kind of you, thank you. Hopefully we're all good, couldn't let him send promo mfs without offering to send one back! :o)

Looking at the pics available, I think you're right ie. rifle vs pistol - I hadn't noticed that. The only other difference is the included magnet in the blister pack. The Ebay sellers assure buyers that the blister pack version is not glued so I guess if one is actually going to open it, they wouldn't mind a blister pack but for the promo mf collectors, it's gotta be the poly.

    @yellowcastle - I'll take a Chrome stormie if you're giving 'em away? ;-)
  • andheandhe UKMember Posts: 3,112
^ random brag. I got one in a bulk eBay lot with some figs and key rings. It was attached to a magnet... But to my surprise it wasn't glued. Win! (Though after hearing people bought them for $0.01 my score seems a bit weak).

I would expect newer limited versions of figs to exceed the value of their previous incarnations. Who would choose one of the old lumps of plastic (eg gamorrean guard) over a new printed version?

    8oO

No 'full' failures yet! ;o) One has been built, it's been seen, but since the license wasn't a lucrative one, TLG couldn't release it. A photo was taken at the time of sight but was quickly asked to delete it. The other....the other!!! The other looks like a 3po to me. I'd be pretty confident in saying that if you were to hold up one of the new figs to a bunch of non SW fanboys, 99% of them would reply "3po". That's what happened in this case.

Nothing I might say are predictions. I'd be scared stiff of getting it wrong - case proven. Everything I have comes from TLG.

I'm saying nothing more on it. :o) [Zip]

Your offer was a kind one though and has been noted. Thank you @Yellowcastle. :o)

Just did a quick search on eBay and Bricklink, and found those awful 2006 SW light-up minifigures going for around the $40 US dollar mark; obviously, the better shape the batteries are in, the higher the price.

If CMFs went up to £190 each I might have to tap out. I think the point was more that, even if it is rare, it's still made of the same ABS (ignoring the chinese factory debate).

Not really in the "most expensive" range but the ceremonial version of Luke and Han are at least exclusive. I am looking at a couple of ebay auction.. How much do you think they are worth together? I wasn't able to find the bricklink price guide for them..

They can now both be had for ~16£ together by buying the relative books from amazon (they are at 50% off at the moment)... But I don't really need the books.

^ Thanks! So the official name was "celebration", not "ceremonial"! Is "white pupils" Luke a rarer variation? The prices seems to be cheaper for the non-white (?) pupil s Luke. Overall they are individually as expensive as a mint figure coming with the book..
  • CCCCCC UKMember Posts: 19,005
I managed to get the books when they were £4 (Han) and £6 (Luke). The Book People have the Star Wars bagged set of 3 books ("Luke" book, stiker book, Brickmaster) for £15 at the moment, and you can get two sets for £27. So a little cheaper if you can sell on the brickmaster sets.

I love my minifig collection. I don't think I could ever sell them though. I did get a bunch of Shadow ARF Troopers still in bag from the May the Fourth promo. I think they are some of the only minifigs I could let go of.

I wish I had gotten my hands on a chrome stormtrooper.
  • mnbvcmnbvc Member Posts: 136
The only one I have from the original Superheroes line is Spiderman, but he doesn't get mentioned in the same breath as Batman, I've noticed. :/
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Dunes of TatooineMember Posts: 3,639
^Spiderman doesn't get much attention, but Doc Ock is doing pretty good lately since pics of the new one were released that looks completely different (and awful IMO). Green Goblin with decorated mask is picking up in price lately too. Spiderman suffers from having only 2 variants (plus a 3rd for Balaclava version), being light blue and dark blue. Being included in every one of the Spidey sets released made him too high in availability for the secondary market to absorb relative to others. They should have released Black, Venom and Carnage versions to spread it out.

How much would you give/sell them for
