can someone point me to the right direction? Thanks!

The grand opening date is June 15-17. Here is the breakdown of the dates:

15th (Friday): Spend $35+ get an exclusive t-shirt for free
16th (Saturday): Spend $35+ get the exclusive mini store model
17th (Sunday): Spend $35+ get an exclusive minifigure set.

Which would be a better item to obtain, they mini store model or the minifigure set? Im a good bit away but it might be worth the drive once since it seems the closest opening store around here.

i plan on getting the mini store, does anyone know how the minifigs looks like?

The minifigs are mostly generic but the store name and date is printed on the back of the torso making them exclusive. I have attached a photograph of the Vancouver torso. Please pardon the crappy lighting.

thanks, not a big fan of Elizabeth NJ, I guess I am in for the mini store then.

does anyone know approximately how many set will a store carry? or do i need to camp outside the mall before they open in order to get one? I was planning on going there in the afternoon if they will have enough, I have a young toddler and prefer to avoid the crowd if possible.

I believe 300. I hope NJ does not have as many LEGO fans as the Vancouver store opening was just a crazy experience. The lines were like 5 hours long if you came late and many people left unhappy because they did not come earlier and didn't get a chance to get the store set. My suggestion, get there early. Grab some food and water too and make sure you have at least one person with you just so you can go use the washroom and such.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the mall opened at 10:30 and I got there at 8:30. The line was already 100 people deep. I got into the store and out at approximately 11:45. They only let 50 people in at a time, so basically 1 out and 1 in. What bothered me was the kids just walking around browsing and wasting time.

that mall is kinda ghetto :( opens 10AM so I guess to make sure i get something I might have to be there at 8?

    that would suck...

I mean this in the nicest way possible... E-Town (Elizabeth) is a dump. Can't see why TLG would put a store there before Brooklyn or Staten Island. The rent must be dirt cheap. Good luck 260madison!

i have been to this mall before, so kinda know what to expect, parking if I get there early shouldn't be too bad, does anyone know which parking lot should i use that is closest to the lego store? i want to get out of that mall as soon as I get my set and never go back.

i mean they opened one in the rock only to jack up the price 10%, wondering if this store inside an outlet mall have discounts on current sets (which i doubt)

I plan on going tomorrow and Sunday. I've never been to this mall before. Does anyone have any useful advice? I've never been to a store opening

I looked at the mall map as I am going up there as well on Saturday. Lego store is in the middle, entrance D looks to be closest

Should I be concerned about the exclusive promo set running out? And does the mall allow people in before the store opens at 10?

^ @jvdrummer182 Stores typically have 300 of the sets. Peabody MA still had some at 2:30pm when it opened, but if I were you and I wanted one, I'd queue up to be sure ...

Do they have prod discounts at the opening event in addition to the exclusives?
  • 260madison260madison Member Posts: 50
thanks for the entrance D suggestion, i don't think they do discounts but it is an outlet mall so who knows

if you have a foreign passport, you can go to the tourist center and they will give you a tourist coupon book (maybe out of state license as well, but i know they don't hook people from NY up)

guess i wills see some of you tomorrow

if my memory is correct, they don't let shoppers in before open, after all it is in the hood

There will be no additional discounts.

If you plan on getting to the store early, could you please give us an update on how long the line is and possibly upload a picture?

Just got here to the mall. (it's 8:50 am EST) the mall doors are open and theres a small line inside - maybe 50 people at most
  • kkskks Member Posts: 60

Is there store set limited to 1 per person? Can I make multiple purchases to get more than 1?
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ You can't usually get more than one in a visit. Manager's discretion though. You might be able to get two if you have someone else with you. Be courteous to those in line behind you though. Nobody likes a hoarder - especially nobody who has been standing in line for hours only to find out they are gone.

I went to the conierge desk and they said that the coupons they had did not include one for the Lego store. Are they mistaken or did I go to the wrong place for the 10% coupon.

I got 2 sets of Lego stores and got the hell out of the mall, bought 2 town hall and the cashier rang it separately without asking and gave me the 2 plane and 2 stores, got here around 930

The coupon book is for other stores except lego

I think they handled everything well today, everyone who lined up got a set, although not as many lined early as I would have thought. I know they still had sets at 12:00 because I was able to make another purchase at that time and get another set and while the store was busy, it was not insane.
  • JBricks27JBricks27 Member Posts: 678
Do you think the line will be shorter tomorrow for the minifg give away? It's also fathers day...
  • kkskks Member Posts: 60
I know I would not get there early like today, they have at least 300 of the mini figure sets as well

I volunteered for the Sponge Bob Building Event yesterday at the Elizabeth Store and had a blast! The store's asst mgr Joseph treated us spectacularly and we were treated to lunch. I walked out of the store carrying 5 large yellow LEGO bags of purchases and if today's build wasn't on Father's Day I'd go back and help out. The store had Maersk Trains in stock as well as the Apple Tree House so be on the lookout for sets that haven't been in some stores for a while. If you ever have the chance to volunteer for these events I highly recommend doing so. They are a blast! Nice meeting some of the AFOLs from GardenSLUG as well.

DON'T MISS THE PaB WALL as it had awesome elements on it!

As for those people above who worried about the mall being in the "hood" I saw a great representation of what America is-a melting pot of different nationalities and cultures and I was able to enjoy myself and look forward to shopping at this store in the future (though I live closer to the stores in NY).

For those heading to the event this morning I know the mall doors opened before the stores opened their doors.

My niece wanted the house from the Lego friends collection(?) and they didn't have it in stock I didn't even have a chance to check out the pab wall :(

I did liked the store layout the size is just right and not cramp like the Roosevelt field mall store, the sales team there were nice and helpful as well

^do you have a.picture of the completed spongebob?

  • JBricks27JBricks27 Member Posts: 678
Maybe 20 people in line as of 10:45 am EST. Much lighter turn out, as I expected
  • bmwlegobmwlego Member Posts: 819
    @260madison
The sponge bob won't be completed until later today.

I was still able to get the minifig promo at 2:30pm today and Spongebob was already past his eyes so it looks to be on track.

@bmwlego That SB build was a fun event! It was a great time when I did it at Peabody a few weeks ago too! The Lego staff were very helpful, and I got more acquainted with those staff from other MA stores that had come to help. Those kinds of connections can go a long way when one visits those other stores!
