Thanks @Huw for the reply, i suspected as much. I should also just quickly add that the wordiness of my post makes it sound like a bigger gripe than i intended.
Plus i've discovered the pop up (though irritating that it throws me off the page while i'm typing) can be circumvented in a similar fashion to how i add any @'s after typing, and text-based emoticons can still be created (assuming the autoblob doesn't chase 'em down later, like it seems to have with older posts; example ;oP
The John Lewis thread was recently pruned of lots of posts. Since then new posts to it aren't causing the new comment indicator to appear for me.
Presumably what's happening is my last read counter value is still ahead of the current post count and perhaps should be reset to the same value.
And @bendybadger, I love the "hails from" ;-)
Posting to a thread as normal, I realised my post needed a small edit. Clicked 'edit', and made the required change, and reposted back to the forum as normal. Nothing unusual yet.
Reading the (now edited) repost back, I then noticed another edit was required. So again, clicked edit (still with plenty of time), made the adjustment, and posted it back again as normal.
But reading back this time, i noticed the first edit had somehow been undone and the error was back, only the second edit had taken place. Weird!
Given that i was editing a made post, and not pulling up a saved draft, I find it odd that the forum had somehow discarded the first edit when i made a second edit. Not entirely sure how that happened, as i've made multiple minor edits in quick succession to posts before, and have never encountered prior edits being undone by a subsequent edit.
Anyone else had this happen? Or was it just some quirk in the space-time continuum?
Is there any reason for the change (if indeed change there was)? I feel like 'Brickset Forum' would make more sense.
On the plus side, though, at some point in the past few months (or maybe years...I can't remember when I first noticed this), the little Brickset icons have come back - all the forum pages used to just get generic 'sheet of paper' icons in the browser tabs.
I'm likely to fiddle about with the template a bit shortly in response to survey comments so I'll see if it can be changed then.
Previously when you pm'd a group of people you could see a list down the right hand side of the pm as to who was included in the list. Underneath add people to this conversation and leave this conversation. Once the pm goes to over 3 people, the "title" just lists 3 random names and x number of people.
Today I received a group pm and the list of recipients down the right hand side is missing. Thinking it was because I did not initiate said pm I went back to one I had. The list is missing there too. Not sure when this changed (must be after Jan 13th as that's when I know I saw it last for definite) but could we have it back please. It's particularly useful when arranging meetups because it means everyone can see who is included (or not) and people can be added at any stage and get all the chat.
And I'd just got the ipad to add a new person successfully for the first time too, previously the box wouldn't allow me to type. Darn darn darn darny darn!
Update - same thing occurs on Safari actually. Just goes to the top of the page instead of skipping to the last comment read

What's going on there? Is there something up with the counters?
Here is that same paragraph typing naturally.
isproblem here on y kindle, no er e aI use. When typing pretty every d s deleted as I type he next word, unless I use predicted ct ck comeack o the word typed is no underlined.
Seriously? Takes me ages to post anything. Anyone know if this is a setting on the site or a bug?
^ It could be a problem with the way the site treats text input from your software - an issue with how the forum interacts with either the Silk browser or your keyboard app. I can't remember if there are alternate free keyboard apps in the amazon appstore, but worth a look, and then maybe try looking at different settings within Silk or download a different browser. After that, I'd suggest looking at Amazon support options.
Sorry but it'll be a bit of trial and error I'm afraid...
Is there any way to stop getting notifications from just this topic?
