In Firefox, the formatting is all off.....discussions have larger spacing gaps between them....there's a big gap at the top of the page in "Recent Discussions" view.

The quote button has moved Southwest and I'm guessing the "number of views" figure next to each thread is new...
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
The private message icon is finally highlighted.
  • brickmaticbrickmatic Member Posts: 1,071
I don't really like this new layout right now, but I wonder how much that has to do with it being different from what we're used to. I do think the number of pages views should be after the number of posts.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
159,000 views for the DarthTexas thread. ;o)
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002

159,000 views for the DarthTexas thread. ;o)

Can that be right? Also says 2.1k New for me... Guess its something that doesn't interest me...
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
Don't much care for the new layout but one good thing has come of the upgrade: before, I wanted to be invisible in the Who's online side bar and it would not work at all. Works now :)

I thought I was doing well with 1.6k New! ;o)

Show previous quotes is also new (at least I think it is). @flump is a good example in the comment above, he's quoting @andhe who had previously quoted @yellowcastle. See that ">>show previous quotes" link in there?

You can change the level of quotes that you want ot see by default in your profile settings, it's called Quote Settings. This is a change for the better I think as it keeps things looking a bit neater round here.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
Hadn't noticed it had dropped @yellowcastle's from the final format. I usually go up and edit the earlier quotes out, but when I saw how complicated it looked coupled with the fact that I'm supposed to be working, I didn't bother. Good to see that the earlier quote has been removed automatically.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
^ not removed, just hidden. This should make nested quotes look a lot better.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
^ Nesting actually showed up in the 5/17/12 Forum Upgrade. I actually prefer seeing everything though I admit that vertical real estate suffers.
  • atkinsaratkinsar Member Posts: 4,258
Did it!? It's up to you how many levels it shows, you can change it in your profile settings.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
^ That's good to know. I never check "settings" so I'm not sure if that is new or part of the last update.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^ It was in the last update, I changed my quote settings a while back.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Was the 'mark all viewed' button for threads just removed?
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^ It seems to mark all as read automatically every so often now?
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Not for me @LIT , its been about an hour now and all unread threads are still highlighted. I actually liked the 'all read' function because my OCD doesn't like all those loose threads flashing 'read me now' lol.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
I like how you can see who is online by just hovering over the profile picture. :)
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
All my threads have been read automatically. :( I don't know what I need to read now.
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,482
^ Same thing happened to me. And the "mark all as read" link is gone.
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
    ^^, ^ - Same here.

I didn't immediately notice but when I checked pages 2 and 3 of "All Discussions", everything was indeed grey. So, it would appear we were all wiped during that change. That being said, it appears to be working normally after the wipe...

One thing that I've noticed that really bugs me is that previous "forum quotes" no longer show up as "forum quotes." Thus, rereading comments prior to 7/17/12 can get confusing as the formatting no longer distinguishes between what you've written and what you've "quoted."

    ... really bugs me ...

Yes. When I've seen really bad examples, I've been manually editing comments to add in the " class="Quote" " text into the header to make it work properly again, but it seems like an necessary change in functionality and a real PITA. Grr.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
It happened again. All the threads are now marked as read. :(
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
    Likewise. :-(

    Aaaaaaand working again.

I'm assuming that's you tinkering away @Huw? Well done.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
I don't think we can affect that...
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,120
No, not guilty. It looked odd on my phone earlier, everything was grey as if read but the normal version looks OK to me now.
  • caperberrycaperberry Member Posts: 2,226
Well, I'm just glad the Mark as Read button is back!
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
I'm having trouble with the "who's online" tab. It's been showing basically no one is online (usually 7 brickset members +10 or so guests), when people that are supposedly not online (by the tab) are posting and writing in the forums. So obviously there are more people online than what "who's online" is saying... anyone else having this problem?
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
All my flags were cleared again... :o(
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^^ People can choose to be invisible.

All marked as read for me again (in mobile view). It's highly irritating...
  • timinchicagotiminchicago Member Posts: 239
How do you turn off the invisible feature? Also everything is getting marked as read :(
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
@Huw - can you escalate to Vanilla? All of our "Not Yet Read" flags keep resetting to "All Read." I can confirm that this has happenned at least twice today alone.

And to me, so I will do...
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
@Huw - I see what @CCC et al mean.....the new notifications are indeed present when first returning to the Forum but everything resets when you refresh (either link up top or link below thread).
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
@LostInTranslation- Well apparently everyone is doing that now. Usually about 50 or so people are on at certain parts of the day, and now it shows (for me) only 7..
  • timinchicagotiminchicago Member Posts: 239
My "hide status" checkbox is not checked yet I am still invisible for some reason.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
@samiam391 - ok, it was only a suggestion. I can't see the who's online thing in mobile view anyway.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
I can just tell when Lucy is online.....it's like a disturbance in the force...

    ;o)
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
^^^Maybe there's an error with that..?

    ^^@LostInTranslation- Thanks for the suggestion!

  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^^ lol And my Spider sense tingles when you're online Patrick :-)

New weird development: under my comment box in every discussion it says "Debug Trace" then some computer-speak with a yellow background??

They are looking into the erroneous 'mark all read' problem at the moment, I suspect that's the reason for the yellow box.

I have this problem with a slight twist. Just about every thread is marked as read, whether I've read part of it or not, but there are a handful of threads, for example the The Next Winter Village set: 10229 Cottage thread, which are updating as normal and indicating the correct number of new posts.

  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
Vanilla has confirmed that there is a problem with the read flags and is currently working on fixing it. Hopefully it won't be too long. And luckily, each thread appears to still remember your place, even if the flags don't help you find those threads.

They've also said it's a complex problem though so may take a while to resolve :-(

Just adding that although everything is greyed out for me, when I click on a discussion it still takes me to where I left off, which is nice. Glad I didn't delete my cookies.

EDIT: Duh. Just noticed I'm being redundant here. Cf. @yellowcastle ^^
