Oh boy, just in time for the Hulk promo.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
The orc forge is online at [email protected] too, I thought that was a target exclusive? Or does Target exclusive mean target will be the only store OTHER than LEGO selling it?

^ Yes (except for the TRU Truck).
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
    But no free shipping @yellowcastle

The LEGO Stores may not be able to break the June 1 street date...

And if you've been to one recently, you can see that there is absolutely no room for these new waves. The only thing keeping my stores tidy is the simple fact that they can't manage to keep any Ninjago or Friends in stock! :o)

^ LEGO store manager told me today word came from corporate to move all LotR sets from June 1 shelf date to "upon receipt". He is expecting the first shipment next week.

Though I have no idea where he will put them. Only thing that would make sense is the (small) shelf area currently occupied by what's left of HP and PotC
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
Anyone know when the UK should get these?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Should be really interesting to see how the stores will deal with all the new inventory next week. I went to three stores today and they were stocked full with every line.

LotR, Miners, Monsters, new Ninjago . . . Maybe a good time for a sale :P

Even the Wal-Mart I was at recently (where I picked up two new LotR sets) seemed pressed for space. Not only did they have to accommodate the current stock of Star Wars, City, Hero Factory, Creator, Ninjago, and Cars 2 sets, but there were still plenty of 2011 Star Wars sets, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean stuff, too! The DC and Marvel Superhero sets were scattered throughout, as were the new LotR sets. It's a mess!

My local TRUs have sets stacked in huge piles atop three or four aisles... well beyond the actual LEGO aisle. They shoehorned in some new Ninjago but I cannot imagine where they will put LOTR. Forget Atlantis and AC, more than one still has a nearly full lineup of Toy Story at full price, and some Prince of Persia! They can't hold out forever with that stuff, it's gonna have to go "motivated seller" at some point. But they don't organize it anyway, it's the stocker from LEGO corporate who comes every two weeks. So the guy who has to fit stuff on shelves has no control over what goes on sale or when. It's a weird system.

Two different LEGO store people (lowly clerks, though) told me that LEGO corporate is very pissed about how early TRU dropped in the June stuff. Apparently they were supposed to hold it back until June 1, and simply put it out anyway. So this might be a countermove to not lose another 2 weeks of potential sales.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ I've been told by managers that TRU routinely does this.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
Then maybe Lego should stop sending shipments to TRU before the street date. Lego store should have them first, followed by everyone else!

Just picked all of the LOTR sets up last night from The LEGO Store in Calgary!!

I work at TRU and regularly help unload trucks at my store. I don't think Lego told TRU to hold the LOTR sets till a certain date. The boxes LOTR sets are shipped in weren't marked with a hold date like Friends and other themes that had a street date were. I think TLG themselves are at fault if they wanted LOTR sets held until a certain date as they apparently didn't tell the retailers.
  • thorniethornie Member Posts: 245
^This has been my experience as well working in retail in the past. Stuff that has a street date is CLEARLY marked on the boxes. TLG is to blame for this snafu. IMO they should have rolled the sets out immediately at their stores once TRU put them up.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ they did move up the date from June 1st to as soon as received -- which is this Monday.

I noticed these LOTR items on the TRU website.
    Awesome project case!

Just got back from a late night run to Walmart. I was out late rollerskating and figured I would stop at the nearby Super Walmart. Went down the aisle, nothing new... then I saw skids stacked up with fresh cases of sets. I started looking and saw some older sets, like Jay's Storm Fighter and Forest Police. Looking through the last stack I spotted Uruk-hai Army! Found a employee that was eager to help and he got someone to open the cases for me. Here are the sets I was able to find. So they are making there way into stores, hopefully the big ones will show up soon and Monster Fighters!

^^ That message has popped up on a lot of LEGO sets over the past year or so. Fire Brigade, Death Star and Medieval Market Village right off the top of my head. Of those three, the only one where I'd heard anything that would have justified it was the Fire Brigade.

Went to the LEGO Store today to order LotR sets with free shipping - and get the poster and Hulk too. They said they couldn't do the free shipping offer since they technically are not out-of-stock with the LotR sets, because they haven't received their first shipment yet. Never had that problem before. The manager wasn't there, so I didn't push it. Supposedly smaller sets are to arrive on Monday, and perhaps the larger ones later in the week. They said they should have plenty of Hulks til then - they have a bazillion.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Yeah I asked at my store and they said the new sets will be there on Monday. They did have the Chess Set though so I got that one and a PAB cup to get my Hulk :)
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@sidersdd Will you get the poster that way? I would quite like one but not at $9 shipping. I asked at the store and they said they wouldn't be getting the posters, I didn't think that it might come with an in store order. Hmmmm.

BTW I ordered from Target and got the Gollum poster too, we're hanging it in the LEGO room so that bitty girl will stop trying to sleep in there, she's seriously freaked out by Gollum :).
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Yes, you should get the poster that way. The store attendant worked my order up to the end, which showed it included the poster and the Hulk, and then proceeded to tell me that he wouldn't be able to do the free shipping offer for the LotR items yet. He also said he didn't think they would have posters in-store, but it's possible they would arrive with the LotR shipments next week.

Yeah, I got the Gollum poster from Target as well. Probably my least favorite one. The others (Frodo, Aragorn, Legolas) at least look like LEGO. Poor daughter of yours. She obviously needs more LEGO in her room. Deprived, that one is. ;)

Fully stocked LOTR sets at my local TRU. Photos:

I'll likely hit 2 LEGO Stores next week, so I'll see what they have then. Need to pick up a Hulk polybag or two.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
^^ she would have agreed with you this afternoon when she started whining to open a new set instead of finishing battle for geonosis or opening either of the MBA sets waiting for her. "Sleepover" last night plus a cold is making her somewhat difficult to live with :)

The manhattan Lego store still doesn't have any of these sets available, and again they have no clue when they'll be up. A few people here mentioned to me that the Queens store was getting them in and I took a chance, went out of my way and headed out to Queens after work which is nearly an hour or so out of my way. I'm glad I did because the service I received there was phenomenal. They had no LoTR sets on display but I asked a manager when they'll be in stock, he said "which sets do you want?"... I rattled of 4 sets and he went to the back room, opened a bunch of sealed shipping boxes and proceeded to look for the sets I asked for. 10 minutes later he came back with all four. He didn't HAVE to do that. He could have easily told me to bugger off like they did at te Rockefeller Ctr store. So, for that I'm grateful.

@thornie Queens LEGO Store is the best in the NYC area. Their staff is the friendliest. Plus you do not have to pay the 10% markup. Rockefeller store is best for PAB and exclusives like Statue of Libery and Taxi polybags.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ Yes, some stores are tremendous like that. I routinely drive to further stores for the better service.
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
@thornie was that Richard? the whole staff there is fantastic, do them a favor and do the survey printed on the receipt (I give all 10's except for inventory, which isn't their fault, they don't request their own stock and it's not modified at all based on what they sell, sadly)

@hleonffu dead on! I happened to move less than 3 blocks away in September and I'm there several times a week, and it's always a pleasure to deal with them.

Actually i'm going there as soon as I get off the computer =-)

^ I think so. Didn't get the guys name. I was super impressed with the service. I will definitely be returning even if it's an hour out of my way (live in Brooklyn with no car).

The Mines of Moria (9473) on Amazon (U.S.) for $72.78.

    The Battle of Helm's Deep (9474) $117.08.

If it's tax free for you I consider those very good deals for a newly released set.
  • cloaked7cloaked7 Member Posts: 1,448
^ the deals mentioned above are gone. Hopefully they'll be marked down again later.

My Lego store got in all new Summer sets with the exception of Battle of Helm's Deep. I guess they are selling so fast the LEgo can't really ship any to the stores just yet. The employee's(who I know personally) said it'll probably be mid-june by time they get them in.
