There are a handful of states that have no sales tax, but if you live in a state that does, you are still required to pay the sales tax on items bought on internet stores such as Amazon. I live in Michigan and they have section on their 1040 for you to figure out your tax and to pay it. Im not a tax professional, but I am sure that other states have similar sections in their tax code.

^Pretty much any state with sales tax has this. The problem is, I suspect only the most honest and informed individuals actually report this, as it's not policed at all.

You are correct. I own 2 businesses and I have to pay all my taxes. I also pay the sales tax for internet purchases on my tax form. They don't police it, but I'm not going to take any chances. Point of my previous comment was that I don't use the "no tax" as a reason to save money by purchasing on Amazon.

I wasn't suggesting it as a workaround, so much as suggesting that I suspect a lot of people don't realize they're required to do so, and a lot realize it and just don't. Though, if you're buying to resell, you shouldn't actually have to pay taxes on those particular purchases (at least that's how it is here).

Yes, again you are correct. When we buy our products wholesale we don't pay sales tax until those products are sold. I am sure most people don't pay the sales tax after they re sell the Item they bought online. Again, I am sorry I went off on a tangent, but I just want to make people aware that no tax doesn't always mean tax free :-)
