Downtown Disney CA: Grand Reopening May 25-27

The grand reopening of the Downtown Disney Anaheim LEGO Store is May 25-27. Just received a postcard that indicates the main event is an "assist a Master Model Builder" build of an 8ft. Brickley. For participating you get what appears to be a new trans light blue commemorative Duplo brick. This design isn't in the BrickLink catalog.

No word yet on whether they will have the mini store model.

For those of you eager to see the remodel, they had their soft opening last week. There are some fantastic Disney-themed giant models displayed. Looks great!

I think the Duplo brick is given away with any purchase, as long as if you have the postcard. You get a building certificate for participating in the build.

We are planning to be there but we aren't on their mailing list because we don't live in So CA. If anyone has one of the postcards they won't be using I would really appreciate having one. Please PM me. We are driving almost 400 mi to be there and I collect the duplo promo bricks so I will be very disappointed if I can't get one. Thanks in advance to anyone who would help me get the postcard.

When were these postcards sent out? I'm local but don't recall getting one in the mail.

The 25th is my first day of vacation, so I'll be stopping by for the Grand Opening. Any other Bricksetters plan on making it out on that day next week?

I never got a postcard either but I will definitely stop by before the Hulk minifig promo ends.

I'll be visiting the Southcoast store this weekend to ensure I get a couple Hulks, but will be at the Disney store on Opening day also for 1 or 2 more. Really hoping for a Lego Store promo set to be given out though, that'll really make it worthwhile. Maybe I'll see you there then @willkfwong?

I won't be able to make it to the Lego store at Downtown Disney until May 26th at the earliest. I have work on Friday and LA traffic is insane. :(
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
That's a shame, it'd be nice to bump into another Bricksetter and chat about bricks over some coffee & beignets. But yeah I know what you mean, I'm coming from Redondo off the 91, so its about 45mins without traffic. Throw in the fact that its Friday on Memorial Day weekend, that will be freeway misery at its finest. They should open another location between Disney and Glendale locales.

A Lego store at the SouthBay Galleria or Del Amo would be perfect. My wallet disagree, however.

LUGOLA will be volunteering with the Master Model Build of Brickley. I should be there Saturday and Sunday. I look forward to seeing fellow Bricksetters, LUG members, and AFOLs. It looks like we may still need more volunteers for Friday and Sunday. If you live in LA/OC but haven't joined LUGOLA, check it out here: groups.yahoo.com/group/LUGOLA/

We have confirmed, unfortunately, that there will NOT be a giveaway of the 3300003 Mini Store set as part of the grand reopening.

I'll be down there with my boys for sure -- with postcard :P Hadn't really decided which day. Most likely it will be late afternoon Friday or Saturday after Little League. They've been dying to see the remodel so we will probably hit it this weekend as well.

The store looks nice, big PAB wall, but it hardly seems worth the time and expense they obviously went through. The much hyped upper room is tiny. It hasn't been tested yet with hot weather, but so far at least the store is much cooler and not as stuffy.

@BrickDancer I called the store and the postcard is not required for the discount, just tell them you didn't receive a postcard. Hubby and I are planning to be there barring any medical issues. We will probably wear our name tags from BBTB convention as our SacBB name tags won't be in yet.

Great, thanks Shellz. Me and the gf will be there, most likely Friday. She was excited to hear we get to help build a big display.

Sad to hear no Mini Store @DadsAFOL =( So only thing we get is the Duplo promo brick?

Just bumping this to the top of the list... The Anaheim grand reopening starts tomorrow. Come check out the spectaular Disney character models inside and outside the store. Also bring the kids and help a Master Model Builder make a Brickley. Or just come and chat up LUGOLA members that will be there in force Friday through Sunday!

Does anyone know if they're having any other deals than the free brick?

I was there last weekend and the store was open. It's quite impressive. The Aladin display was really cool.

FYI- The store is not giving out the advertised Duplo brick. They are giving out the 3300001 Brickley set.

Also, they are out of Hulks. I picked up a couple this afternoon and they were out when I returned a few hours later.
  • AFFOL_Shellz_BellzAFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Member Posts: 1,263
Did the 3300001 go to just the first 100 people to make a purchase or to the kids for helping build the Brickley?
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ received one last night at 10 minutes to close . . .
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
*Phew* Good thing I went yesterday early then, was able to get 2 Hulks and 2 Brickley 3300001. Very happy with that giveaway set, better than the duplo brick.

Really like the new sculptures, like Beauty & Beast and Alladin. Great job to the teams who made it happen.

^ How did you get two hulks at this store?
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^Two separate purchases, as my gf and I checked out separately.

Brickleys are back today. Plenty to give away today (5/26 afternoon).

Was still a good day. My boys put together a bunch of bricks, picked up some LoTR, couple Brickleys, pizza and Hagan Daz :)

Is anyone here volunteering? If so, what do you look like, lol.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^I was there on Friday and wanted to meet Bricksetters too, but it was like a madhouse so didn't know where to start. We didn't volunteer or join on building Brickley because of how busy it all was. My gf wore a Lego heart necklace and earrings if anybody saw us.

Daughter picked up the Brickley Duplo brick for me yesterday! Plus my order of duplo promo bricks from a bricklink seller arrived! Made my day!
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ Guess I should have asked, but I thought the Brickley set they were giving out replaced the Duplo that was advertised.
  • AFFOL_Shellz_BellzAFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Member Posts: 1,263
She said they were requiring the postcard to get the brick.
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
^ had it in my pocket :P

If you don't live too far go by and talk to the mgr they may have some left. We were able to get event bricks at an un-named store a full month after the event last yr when we missed an event because hubby was hospitalized two days before the event.
