^ Yes, Orc Forge is a Target exclusive

saw MF and Mining in my local (Tigard, OR) TRU today. No LotR though. Didn't check out mining, but they had 6 of the 8 MF sets, at the following markups:

    7.99 (+$1)
    14.99 (+$3)
    24.99 (+$5)
    39.99 (+$5)
    84.99 (+$5)
    109.99 (+$10)

I'd still grab the cheapest set in multiples at $7.99

Basically everything at the TRU store is marked up, at least with new sets..
I had 20 bucks in rewards coupons and wound up buying the new Creator Beach house.. Between TRU mark ups and scum thieves stealing parts and resealing boxes, it was not worth it to me to buy the LoTR sets, the Mine set (big one) is 110 at the TRU....

I can aslo confirm that a suburban Chicago TRU has all the new sets - including Ninjago (bought the Samurai X), Monster Fighters (bought the Swamp Creature), LoTR, City Mining, and Creator Beach House. Pretty exciting to see them all, but will wait to give my money to the Lego store directly as those markups are pretty crazy. Used a 15% off coupon and $5 in rewards to make it less painful. . .

Relative to Toys R Us or Target, How long does it take other retailers to get new themes?
    Walmart, KMart, B&N, etc.

I'm not sure if this is news to everyone, but TRU has the Monster Hunter sets for sale - at least in the Times Square location.

They actually look like a lot of fun, if geared towards kids, and I hope to pick up a few when they hit somewhere without a ridiculous mark-up.

Sorry, just saw the combined thread further down -please lock or delete. My mistake!

(Apparently I can't tell the difference between the word 'Fighters' or 'Hunters' either. I'm on a roll today...)

@richl Thanks for the heads up. Do you know if the LEGO store in Rockefeller Center is carrying any of the new sets yet?

My local LEGO Store already has the LoTR, Mining, Monster Fighters and Ninjago sets out for purchase. So I would guess that Roockefeller would have them out too.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
@thornie I haven't headed over there yet. Maybe next week if I get a chance.

^ No problem, I'm going after work today. I'll post an update when I get home.

FYI, at least at my local store, Vampire Hearse is MSRP. No markup. That was the only oset I found with no markup.
  • thorniethornie Member Posts: 245
I can confirm that there are NO new sets at the Rockefeller center store, nor do the employees have any idea when they'll be in. "Sometime in June, I guess?" is what one employee told me. Crazy how every other retailer has these up and selling except LEGO's own store in one of the biggest markets in the USA.

fellow NYer here. The LEGO Store in Elmhurst at the Queens Center Mall told me last night that the LoTR will be coming in on Monday the 21st. I'd check there if it is close to you. That store has a friendly staff and there is no mark up.

Knowing my Lego store they'll be getting in the majority of the summer sets this monday(21st) also. Works out for me as Thursday is my b-day! Lego goodness, woohoo.

I saw 9468 at TRU for $109. Does anyone know what MSRP for this set is? I'm assuming TRU has marked it up.

^ I am unsure about the official price, but my guess is $89.99. $109 seems like the CDN price for that set.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
    pretty sure it's 99.99
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
    pretty sure it's 99.99
TRU *only* marked it up by $10? That is hard to believe. ;)
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
It is indeed $99.99. So at $109.99, that's a veritable steal by TRU standards.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ non-licensed. TRU seems to only apply about 10% markups on non-licensed themes. It's the licensed stuff where they are going towards 25%

Looking at the brick count and set design I almost pulled the trigger. I'd rather give the business to the Lego store so I waited to see what the real price was.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
It IS $99.99 as the MF theme was just released on [email protected]
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
Big Ben is available on-line at ToysRUs.com now. $35. Not sure what MSRP is supposed to be.

Monster Fighter mad professor set is there now too. $60. It's available at the Lego Store or on-line for $50.

Haven't seen or read anything yet, but today while at the TRU in Hawthorne, CA spotted several of the new 2012 Mining sets.

When will Wmart or Target start selling the Summer lines?

e.g. Creator Seaside House or Monster Fighters line?

In a week? 2 weeks? in July?

Can't wait to see them in stores.

The only brick-mortar store selling them right now is TRU and the markup bugs me.
