Sherlock: Yes and he's got a monkeys "heed", according to the old chants at St James park when he was at Sunderland.

Yeah well thats his own fault for being a sunderland manager :-). He does really look like a orangatang though.

:O How dare you! SAFC are a good team!
I will buy the Exo-suit, does remind me of Aliens slightly.
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,108
@Sherlockbones I cant help it im a newcastle united fan.

Yeah I thought of aliens when I look at it. Without being rude to peter I think this is the most likely to be made out of all of his models. It would be a nice little set to have maybe in the £20-30 range. His others while spectacular; are just not feesable for lego.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,161
And he peels bananas with his feet, apparently (the manager, not the other Peter).

Although if the other Peter can do that he needs to give up his day job.

^Being honest that is going to need a lot of imput from lego to improve it. However that said the idea is one I would happily have in lego form. I would love to see a midi scale HMS Victory.

It's cool, but I can't really support it due to a couple nitpicks. The first is minor: this hand piece doesn't have enough of a "wrist" for my liking. The second is that this hand piece would really seem ideal for interchanging with other minifigure hands. And the problem with that is that minifigure hands are not designed to be swapped around. They are pre-assembled, and switching them around weakens the connection (same as with minifigure legs and arms). While AFOLs are free to do this at their own discretion, it's not something TLG should encourage.

Yeah as the builder says the masts aren't great (it looks like the sails or masts will come off easily) but it's a nice idea and at least it's not yet another car or house. It's worth LEGO looking at.

I wanted to let people know that Wes Talbott's Legend of Zelda: Iron Knuckle Encounter was posted to CUUSOO today. For those of you Zelda fans who were let down by the results of this last review period, here's your chance to show both LEGO and Nintendo that the idea is still viable. I don't consider myself a 'gamer' by any means, but playing The Legend of Zelda on my neighbor's SNES growing up is still one of my favorite memories. So, for those inclined, let's move Link into LEGO!

Here's the 'link' for anyone that's interested: http://lego.cuusoo.c...eas/view/32525# (Ha, see what I did there?)

That is pretty cool, I am going to definitely support it, but doesn't that call for new molds as well..?

  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,108
To be honest as much as they say 'there are no rules on resubmitting'. If they said no the first time. I highly doubt they will say yes to a second one.
  • AanchirAanchir Member Posts: 3,014

To be honest as much as they say 'there are no rules on resubmitting'. If they said no the first time. I highly doubt they will say yes to a second one.

Depends on the reason they said no. In this case, new molds might still be an issue, but that doesn't mean they should automatically say "no" to any new LoZ proposal. Now, if it were a licensing issue then it'd be a different situation. Then they could automatically dismiss any proposals based on that IP.

In other words, the reason they said no to the previous Legend of Zelda proposal had almost nothing to do with it being a Legend of Zelda proposal (though being license-driven was probably a factor, since for a non-licensed proposal accuracy to the source material is not a factor, so new molds could be substituted for existing ones more easily).

Glad to see this on Cuusoo; it's a lovely and well-thought-out model, and I've thought that since I saw it on deviantART. I've given it my support.

I hope it makes it through the review. I'm not sure I'd buy it as I probably have most of the parts already, but at least if it is production, then the instructions will go online. Plus I want it in black.

I don't normally like to try and promote my own project, but I wanted to get some feedback.

Anyone have any good ideas on an additional battlepack scene?

So far from several different people I've been given the following suggestions:
    -Hoth
    -Geonosis
    -Bespin

    Anyone have any others?

    The project is here:

    Thanks!

@samiam391 I wish battle packs had design elements in them like they used to. Remember all the moderate small sets? Jabba's Prize? Final Duel I and II? all these had SCENE RECREATIONS. One of the biggest disappointments TLG has gotten to are the new battle packs. I find myself wondering when Lego will just stop making brick sets with licenses.

I disagree completely, based on these minifigs to parts ratios:

    Jabba's prize - 2 minifigs, 40 pieces - 20
    Final Duel I - 2 minifigs, 31 pieces - 16
    Final Duel II - 3 minifigs, 23 pieces - 8

    Number are minifigs, pieces, pieces/minifigs

    2013/2012 sets

    Clone Troopers vs. Droidekas - 4 ,124 - 31
    Republic Troopers vs. Sith Troopers - 4, 63 - 16
    Elite Clone Trooper & Commando Droid Battle Pack - 4, 98 - 25
    Endor Rebel Trooper & Imperial Trooper Battle Pack - 4, 77 - 20
    Droid Escape - 4, 137 - 35
    Geonosian Cannon - 4, 132 - 33

The number of bricks (per minifig) in the current sets is going up in these smaller sets, not down. Some of the current ones do not have landscape / interior recreations, but have scene recreations in terms of cannons, etc. Although Endor has landscape (tree), escape has the escape pod (the key part of the scene). These are just as much a part of the movie scene as the scenery. And often what kids want to play with.
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
@ccc , I def did not mention Endor because that set seems right. The Republic Trooper vs Sith Troops give frame of reference to OR scenery at all.
I dont consider Droid Escape as a typical Battle pack, and agree that it has a scene element. Even the Elite Trooper set has the cannon. The Mando set? I just dont know. Half of the new iterations of battle packs release lack scene dressing.

Call me nostalgic, but good settings make the set. Otherwise, you are swooshing your underscaled vehicle around the couch.

They just seem simple. Piece count or no.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
^ Or you are walking around an underscaled bit of scenery. :-)

By definition a small set will have a small pile of bricks in it, whether it is a bit of scenery or a vehicle.
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
@ccc i think there is a market for @samiam391 's CUUSOO proj, though... I would much rather have partial scenery than 20 cannons. hahahaha
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
There is probably a small market for it. I'm not sure how you can play once you put them together, since the opening in the top of the corridor looks fairly small.

The real problem is it is not very original. It is a battle pack for an existing theme, with a change in the type of scenery. Cuusoo projects are not meant to be extensions or repetitions of existing themes, heavy on minifigs. However modularised the scenery is, it will only sell due to the existing minifigs. Remove the minifigs and you have a collection of bricks completely out of context.

@CCC- Can I get more of an explanation as to what you are inferring with this?

This isn't a project meant to inspire a theme, but rather a project that's looking for improvement on a specific aspect of LEGO's products already being produced. I wouldn't call it an extension or repetition necessarily.

  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
While Cuusoo hasn't outright said no Star Wars, I suspect anything Star Wars related would have a very tough time passing review. Honestly, they aren't going to pay a 1% royalty on top of the Lucasfilm licensing for something like a UCS set which they already churn out, or battle packs, which they also churn out. why would they want to give away money they are already getting themselves? This is precisely @CCC's point - LEGO doesn't need Cuusoo to tell them to make SW battlepacks - they already do that.

I suspect the lone exception to this might be something really original, like the microscale scenes.

I have to say, I really love those. One of the few projects I've supported on Cuusoo. Wouldn't mind having one of those sitting on my desk.

I can recognize the point. Most likely if it ever did reach 10,000 (maybe 10 years time from now), than LEGO would just say thanks for the idea, and leave me in the dust!

Perfectly plausible, but still, all the same... it's fun to post a project and have it get support/votes and a little hype :-) Guess it's the child in me.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ absolutely! I"m not trying to take the wind out of your sails or criticize your project - I thinks it's cool personally. I just think it's chances of getting made are almost nil.

@dougts- Not at all. I'm a realist and know it isn't making it near 10,000. Ever. And if it ever did (that .0000000001%) chance, it wouldn't make it as a product.

However, I find the whole aspect of it fun which is why I do it! Plus, I enjoy building, so I just throw them up on Cuusoo when I'm finished in LDD, and see if other people appreciate them too. :-)

Simple. It is something they already produce. What you have designed is little more than a battle pack, with some scenery. The scenery may join together in modular form, but it is still a battle pack, which will rely on existing Star Wars minifigs to sell it to the masses. They already sell those.

This is not what cuusoo is for.

Would your design sell if all the existing SW minifigs are removed and it is sold as a non-SW set? I doubt it.

  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830

I don't know if you read the previous comments, but I'm not really expecting my project to reach 10,000 :-)

I do building projects on the side for fun, and decided to throw this one up on cuusoo.

I do have to disagree though with your statement that "This is not cuusoo is for." It's an idea, and has every right to be on there, and reach 10,000 (even if it won't.) Would it pass review? Probably not. Surely there would be some other project under review as well at the same time that would help LEGO much more out than an idea. An idea they can take, without me receiving any of the benefits. I'm assuming that's your main point in that "This is not cuusoo is for". :-)
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
I would sincerely hope that TLG is looking at projects with some trajectory for inspiration from the fans, as well as that 10k chance to give something back. It's a form of crowdsourcing, and that is all important for businesses in this socially/digital age.

That model looks small, where are you hiding the 1,579 pieces. And plus what's a Pokemon set without any Pokemon; I think you should add some actual Pokemon but they would require new molds and that goes against their 'No new molds' policy.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,482
@canuck- Small? I can assure you it's 1,579 pieces and not a small set at all. Perhaps because the image is somewhat zoomed out to fit the entire set in an image format that can be uploaded to cuusoo... is why you think it looks small.

Exactly... the no new molds policy prohibits me from making a very nice looking pokemon. I may try my hand at a few brick built starter pokemon, but I don't have any plans on making a bunch of nice looking pokemon with new molds, even if brick built ones will lack a certain appeal.
  • canuckcanuck Member Posts: 88
