    LEGO does not want Shaun of the Dead, Period. end of story.. Shaun of the Dead was an R Rated movie... Last I checked, the SW movies were not, nor any other line that LEGO has produced.
    This means that LEGO, if making Shaun of the dead, would be essentially endorsing a R Rated movie/line.
    I SERIOUSLY doubt, after seeing the model (as great as it looks to me), that a mother is going to buy a set where the source object is simply to gash and gore zombies and damage/sever their heads. (or maybe it was because LEGO could not make a minifig look 'eviscerated' properly). If a mother saw this set, most mothers anyway( cause I'm sure if I did not put that, a bunch of AFOLS would say 'but I'll buy it for my kids' which is understandable but AFOLS do not represent the bulk of the buying market for LEGO) would steer clear of the set... regardless of what their child may think

    I believe it boils down to the rating of the source, just like I'm sure 'Aliens' and 'Starship troopers' will never be approved for LEGO.

    Whilst I dont really like the Western modular (not a fan of the period with the guns, alcohol, prostitution etc), the UCS Sandcrawler the guy did is simply incredible.

    Drawing on a point made earlier, I agree a lot of UCS models are actually just very attractive ornaments once built (latest SSD is the biggest example yet), but the beauty of that Sandcrawler MOC is that it would also be an incredible playset. I can just envisage my daughter (and me) pulling droids in and out of the big workshop.
    Sandcrawler UCSS would be amazing.. but I'm guessing very expensive

    The camper is a great model but considering LEGO just put one in the new garage set, that now seems like a longshot even if it hits 10k.

    The pianos and composers, on the other hand... that is phenomenal at every level.
    Brilliant build, novel theme, educational, historical, new desirable minifigs, reasonable piece count...
    I bet LEGO would absolutely love to do those. The Powers of AFOL should throw all their support behind that and crank it to 10,000.

    With the Modular Western Town having reached review perhaps the site could push this western design now. I am a fan of the train station with the track/water tower/pump trolley.

    UCS Sandcrawler is amazing I have one but to be a Lego set it would need a lot of changes, for one thing it's bloody heavy and very fragile and would easily fall to bits if a child played with it! As a display piece on a shelf it's great!

    ^^ it's beautifully built, but I can't see the community getting behind another Western set so soon on the back of the other one. In addition, I can't see Lego approving two similar themed sets.

    ^^ I agree...however, I think it shows what additional add-on sets are possible with doing an open back design of a western town. I like this set and hope this leads to a new concept of an open back design of a western town.

    now why did someone have to mention that thing. The mosaic of Steve jobs is even worse. Thank fully the apple store hasn't been moving too quickly.

    CUUSOO actually represents the polar antithesis of Jobs' philosophy: Customers know nothing and should never be listened to.

    He might have been difficult but listening to that autobiorgaphy that came out last year. You have to admire him for what he did. Especially sorting out digital music and films. The music and film companies imo would still be in a mess if he had not had the force of personality to get itunes done.

    Wouldnt buy any apple lego though

    People seem to forget that CUUSOO is aimed at turning 'other' fans, into lego fans. That's why the minecraft idea got the go ahead. It's expanding into a market of potential lego buyers, rather than trying to squeeze more money out of the current 'core' market or relatively small AFOL market.

    I wouldn't buy a lego apple store (unless it was a green grocers :P) but that's just the sort of thing TLG might go for. Apple fans buy it because of their devotion to Apple, enjoy the lego experience, and then start buying other lego products.

    I think they're called 'gateway' products, though I may have just made that term up (if so, it's mine, and I copyright it).

    Just saw on Eurobricks that @cavegod's UCS AT-AT was around 6,000 pieces rather than the 8,000 frequently cited here. If he wasn't trying to be economical in the amount of pieces he used, then you'd imagine/hope that LEGO designers could bring the piece count on par with the UCS Falcon, which makes me hope that it is commercially feasible after all.

    i have recently built it in LDD and the parts count is less than i though, I'm sure it would be possible to knock the parts count down to 5500.

    But.. if you know anything about apple fans, then you know this wouldn't happen. They'd buy the apple store, like it, maybe like LEGO but unless LEGO came out with another apple branded set they probably wouldn't buy anything else. You could brand a box of dog crap with an apple and they'd buy it without even knowing what was in the box.

    ^ It will be interesting to see how many people buy the pieces if they can go down this route. I wonder how many non-Lego fans will say "How much for a little lego figure?" when they see the price of Shaun and the zombies.

    ^ I'm not a fan of that. Although the inners are a nice design, it is covered with paper so you cannot see them. The majority of what you see in the completed model is not Lego. The creator acknowledges it doesn't look good when made with real Lego.

    ^ that is pretty cool, especially the steam-punk stylings. I was always jealous of my friends TMNT blimp as a kid. There's something impractical yet exciting about travelling around attached to a massive ball of gas.
    It would need to be halved in size and cost to make it a realistic set though.

    ^ They're basically search terms that the creator feels reflects the content of his submission. It appears they are changing the way they work soon in that the submitter will be limited to 10 and they will eventually be click-able to bring up search results with the term clicked.

    The Tachikoma was removed today by the creator after huge backlash from supporters when he changed the shell of the vehicle so that he could disassociate with Ghost in the Shell.

    It's a shame as I thought it was a great engineering build.

    some of the things I see built are amazing, there's some really talented people working on these lego projects. But common sense has to come into play. I see alot of dream sets, but with licencing issues, or content issues. Wouldn't it make more sense to make more things that fit within the brand? The western town is awesome, I've seen some incredible super hero and city themed stuff that could easy fit the brand today... back to the future and surentity are just nerd fantasies that would limit the apeal of the set in the market

    It's a shame as I thought it was a great engineering build.
    I'm not surprised. The fan community probably feel they have been used to boost numbers, then the designer changes the model significantly, away from what they would have voted for.

    From the other point of view, if it is not going to get produced if too close to that theme, then he needs to change it.
