About those clogs. I thought if they can do scuba-fins and ice-skates for minifig's then I thought clogs would be very cool as well. And how about clumsy giant clown shoes for clown-minifigs, of a similar design as the scuba-fin pieces.

You know what I would like!
A series of minifigs based on great painters of the past, such as:
    Leonardo da Vinci
    image
    image
    Rembrandt van Rijn
    image
Other artists to be include could be:
Vincent van Gogh (with a head wrapped in bloody bandages), Michelangelo (full name: di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni), Caravaggio (real name: Michelandelo Merisi), Peter Paul Rubens, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Edvard Munch etcetera etcetera.

Maybe not all of those master painters are equally suited for a minifig incarnation/adaptation, as many of these dead painters especially later in life all just ended up (with regards to their looks) being a bunch of bearded guys, but most of the here a fore mentioned painters all would be instantly recognizable and iconic, because of their distinct and in some cases rather extravagant appearance.

Historic figures such as: Aristotle; Julius Ceasar; Vercingetorix; Atilla the Hun; Napoleon; Michiel de Ruyter; Horatio Nelson; Alexander the Great; Elizabeth the Virgin Queen; Louis XIV (le Roi-Soleil); Nicolaus Copernicus, Albert Einstein, etcetera would also be nice!

Seems to me Lego can go on indefinitely with the CMF series.

    ps.
Does anyone know why TLG shies away from just calling 'Egyptian Queen' Cleopatra, and 'grandma visitor' just Red Riding Hood, which they obviously are (based on).

Seems to be a general intent. Also with Ocean King (Neptune/Poseidon), Forestman (Robin Hood), Vampire (Dracula) and potentially others. I guess they want to just create generic characters rather than giving them specific names, but the Grandma Vistior is probably the most peculiar (at least with Cleopatra we don't really know what she looked like, whereas Grandma Visitor couldn't really be anyone else!).

I am a bit against specific people appearing, especially in the CMF. I'd like an Elizabeth style queen, a Nelson style admiral, a Caesar style Roman emperor, ...

The French might not want Nelson, but would like Napoleon (and vice versa for British). I wouldn't want them both to appear, and in fact, both are relatively easy to make from existing parts anyway with existing headgear and just a sticker / decal to distinguish them. And maybe short legs for Napoleon if you keep the British view of him as a shorty.

Similarly with a queen. Have one set of regal robes, whip off one hairpiece and replace with another, you have a different queen. So the torso should be a generic medieval queen - and we already have something like that.

As to painters, they would just be men with beards. To identify them, they need context. Maybe Michelangelo next to a statue of David, you know who he is. Take away the accessory, you have beardy man.

Leonardo da Vinci - old man white beard - or is it Charles Darwin in old age? Again easy to make yourself. Just take the beard from Ocean King and you are done. Hold an ape in one hand a skull in the other, you have Darwin.

I want a Hall of Presidents set. We need a Lincoln mini fig.
I have pitched this idea here before... I am of the opinion that if TLG would release a "founding fathers" minifig set, it would sell incredibly well. Of course, it will never happen. LEGO to my knowledge has never once released any set or minifig that is explicitly historical. Which leads me to believe that it's something as a company they prefer not to do.

Roman soldier, Spartan, Egyptian Queen are all explicitly historical. Although not explicit people.

^^ They have a no-go policy regarding religious and political figures, so probably not.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
Lincoln would not be too hard to make yourself. Black suit, black top hat, and dye the fisherman's beard black. The other beards available in black are probably too bushy.

How about a figure of the statue of David? We have already had the Statue of Liberty. Mona Lisa could also be a cool fig or Whistler's Mother in a rocking chair. The Scream would be tough to do properly

I guess the problem is - what would he look like? An all white minifig with white head and hair? (Or all sand green if you want to do the bronze one from Piazzale Michelangelo). He has no real distinguishing features other than his pose, which cannot be done with a minifig. Liberty has the headpiece, the torch, the tablet - all of which makes her identifiable.

Right, I'm aware of those. I meant more specific historical figures that have lived and died. For instance, if TLG were to ever do a Lincoln minifig it would be called "The President" or something like that.

I feel as if LEGO should introduce their own Super hero type minifigure in the Collectible Minifigures line. Perhaps, and I am doubting this, this LEGO Hero may become popular and break out into his/her own sub-theme within the Super heroes theme. I know this may never happen, but it would be a grand idea. Maybe Minifig-Man or Super Stud, I don't know :P

Another vampire, diver, robot, cheerleader, and skier? Good lord. I know we've no pictures to put them into context, but I hope the series isn't shaping up to be as repetitive as it sounds from that list.
  • MCNwakeboardMCNwakeboard Member Posts: 321
I am sure the football player will be collected by army/team builders but nothing really sticks out to me. Hopefully the Santa Claus will have a real hat compared to the sailor cap. Thanks for the list.

Conquistador, Fairy, Ancient Thespis and Vampire (if a little unique) interest me from a medieval/fantasy point of view.
  • kuroishinkuroishin Member Posts: 5
Exactly which kind of trader? Are you sure of a reissue of a Vampire just during Monster Fighters. This list is so disappointing I hope it's a hoax.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
Stock trader perhaps? You know, the ones that work on Wall Street.

    YES! Another cheerleader!

Euro or American football player? Theyve already had a soccer player so I'm guessing American style?
  • vader34mtvader34mt Member Posts: 88
@kuroishin...i hope this is a hoax too...if true, seems as tho it will be quite disappointing
  • kuroishinkuroishin Member Posts: 5
    @vader34mt I think that too.
  • OjikOjik Member Posts: 56
That information was given by TLC, a member of my local LUG confirmed it, because she sells Lego and has this information, too. Unless they were joking. I personally think that the diver will be old-style with the fishbowl helmet and both vampire and skier will be female. Curious about the trader. First thing that crossed my mind was a contemporal peddler.
  • tk79tk79 Member Posts: 329
Cheerleader, Vampire and Skier....nice. Might as well take a shot at CMF 9 with that news:

    Toll Booth Operator
    Secretary
    Green Cheerleader
    Ninja
    Dog on Skateboard
    Snowboarding Girl
    Train Conductor
    Garbage Man
    Babysitter
    Window Washer
    Shoe Shiner
    Policeman

    ...did I miss any?

  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
When I hear trader I think image

Hopefully its another figure to go along with the pirate captain. Some kind of merchant trader
  • devilheaddevilhead Member Posts: 286
Until I see something official, I'll regard this as hearsay, rumor, and/or conjecture.
  • bendybadgerbendybadger Member Posts: 1,139
It would be good if the Trader minifig was a AFOL CMF trader, that had a mini minifig to trade as a nod to the lego community.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
Conquistador - and I have just bought 100 conquistador helmets for my Lego army for the invasion of South America.

I think it would be good to quote my source as I did on Eurobricks when this information spread widely. Here you are: link. Please note that the page is in Czech, so kindly use the translator. You can also compare how accurate my translation was.

I'm guessing these are someone's interpretations rather than the official names as 'boy in Bavarian costume' is rather cumbersome.

The vampire, even if female, is an odd one considering the series 2 vampire and monster fighters range. I'm hoping its more like a 'bride of Frankenstein' with the Marge Simpson type hair.

I think we've called most of these when guessing, be interesting to see what they mean by 'evil female alien' though.
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674
Ancient Thespis- an Ancient Greek actor? Sweet!
Pirate Captain- Fine, haven't had a pirate since 2010 (not counting POTC).
Conquistador- haven't had a live one since 2001. Dead ones in IJ
Enemy Robot- Love robots! Hopefully like Forbidden Planet, or Metropolis!
Evil Female Alien- Hope it's not a rehash of AC or Space Police.
    Diver- bell helmet FTW!
Vampire- seriously? We already got one, plus two now in Monster Fighters
Fairy- probably cloth wings, like the keychain from a while back
Football Player- American?, we need a football to come with it, seriously.
Trader- stock market? Pirates? Middle Eastern? Too vague, man.
    Skier- female
Red Cheerleader- fine, variant on the 2010 S1 version.
Santa Claus- finally a decent Santa? With new hat and everything?
Boy in Bavarian costume- Excited for this one. Accordion please!
DJ- variant on the rapper most likely. Please come with a vinyl record!
    Cowgirl- should be cool.

With the idea of famous artist's (love the idea @thebiglegowski)...it would be great to have them as individual kits with a mosaic to build of a famous work they've done. Along the lines of the Architecture series with a high end printed booklet of their life and notable works.

    With Series 8....some thoughts...

Ancient Thespis...Maybe he'll come with theater mask elements?

Pirate Captain...Not a big Pirate fan but love the print and designs on the PotC figs. Hoping for something extremely detailed and more of an evil look.

Conquistador...Like the Pirate Captain hoping for very detailed armor, helm a weapons.

Enemy Robot...Same as @GIR3691...Love robots! Hopefully like Forbidden Planet, or Metropolis robots. Looking for new, unique sculpt all around and larger/taller fig.

Evil Female Alien...Look forward to this. Like a Queen looking alien.

Diver...Hopefully is the old fashioned bell helmeted diver.

Vampire...Looking for a Nosferatu lookin' vampire creature.

Fairy...Should be nice and hoping for some removable wing elements.

Football Player...Hope it's American Football with a nice accurate helmet.

    Trader...Assuming it's a Middle Easter merchant/trader?

Skier...boring. Not that sking is boring...just the winter sport figs seem lackluster.

Red Cheerleader...not sure on this one. Just a red color schemed uniform and pom poms ala' the first cheerleader?

Santa Claus...really want a nice Santa Claus with the detailed robe/cloak like the original Thomas Nast drawing and Ghost of Christmas Present look.

Boy in Bavarian costume...New hat element I hope and nice detailed lederhosen graphics.

DJ...Maybe with a turntable set up and headphones too.

Cowgirl...YeeeeHAW! Maybe new cowboy hat and have her in a dress and boots.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,837
LEGO phoned this one in if it is a true list... There are much better ideas out there IMO to be had still.
  • kufkuf Member Posts: 66
The cheerleader could be male and have a megaphone.
  • bluemodernbluemodern Member Posts: 11
I have a question about the cowgirl, do you think it will be a female with cowboy boots/hat or a female in a cow costume? We've had a bunny suit guy, gorilla suit guy, and a lizard man, I was thinking it would be along those lines. What do you think?
  • mrseatlemrseatle Member Posts: 410
    That would be udderly fantastic...
  • malleablemalleable Member Posts: 13
At BrickFair 2011, the manager for the CMF series did a Q&A and told us that they were only approved through Series 8. Has anyone heard definitively whether the CMF have been extended past that?
  • ptericpteric Member Posts: 156
Boy that list is a let down especially after series 7. I was hoping they were getting better and better then that list came out. sux
  • SilentModeSilentMode Member Posts: 586
At least let's wait until there's an official picture before passing judgement. It's always funny (so much that it's unfunny) how minds change...
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556

Conquistador...Like the Pirate Captain hoping for very detailed armor, helm a weapons.
I doubt there will be new parts here, I assume a regular cutlass, the existing conquistador helmet:
    image
and maybe a new printed torso and head.
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
^ agree. Loved series 7 which was consistently pretty good, but that list is very mixed.

With all the things you can do with the CMF range it's a shame there's so much repetition.

    INTERESTING:
    - Ancient Thespis
    - Conquistador
    - DJ
    - Fairy

    REPETITIVE
    - Diver = Atlantis
    - Vampire = Monster Fighters
    - Santa Claus = winter village
    - Enemy Robot = another robot?
    - Evil Female Alien = another alien?
    - Red Cheerleader = again?
    - Football Player = again? (or maybe this is american football, in which case not very interesting to me)
    - Pirate Captain
    - Skier

    JUST OK
    - Boy in Bavarian costume
    - Cowgirl
    - Trader

So definitely not worth getting a full set or multiple sets.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
It's always funny seeing peoples varying opinions on which figs the regard as potentially good and bad.

eg. DJ doesn't interest me (ended up with too many rappers from series 3!) whereas the bavarian boy and cowgirl are figs I've been hoping for!

Will reserve any further judgement until we get pictures (which can't be too far off).
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
^ 3 potentially good things about the DJ; LP record piece (like in haunted house) + jeans (like rapper) + probably an interesting hair piece :o)
  • SpaceCakeSpaceCake Member Posts: 291
A very disappointing list, in my eyes. Although I cannot deny the fact that LEGO are infinitely more imaginitive than I, so perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised with the execution of this lineup.

    Fingers crossed, eh!
