LEGO Store Mini Models

Apparently, this site: here suggests a LEGO Store mini model will be given away free to those who make a qualifying purchase at one of the four stores who has a grand opening in May. I wish, one of these stores were local to me- unfortunately they're not. Hopefully, I will be able to pick one up on eBay after it's given away. :P

I think these will be the regular store opening gifts for all future store openings. I'm so stoked for the Vancouver store opening and will definitely be spending over $35 to get all the exclusive gifts.

I hope they're going to be given away with all future store openings. :) I want one of these models badly.

I know, me too. Wish I could bribe a forum member in the US to get me one.
  • UltrabuilderUltrabuilder Member Posts: 5
@starfire: Sometimes these go on eBay- so I might wait until they go on there.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
True but no guarantee. Especially not sure how much people want for them.
  • UltrabuilderUltrabuilder Member Posts: 5
@starfire2 These could be easily made though. Because, if you're a LEGO collector for a long time, you could possibly have the right pieces to make a clone of this.

I know. Jenni said she would upload the instructions. I might consider that as well. It lloks like an awesome set. For my local Lego Store opening last year, they gave out a Lego rattlesnake. I loved watching my husband build it.

^ I got that one too! I can't bring myself to build it, though. :o)

^ How did you get one? I thought you lived on the east coast?

I mentioned this is another thread but the new Rochester NY (Victor) store is giving this away

I want one too! Sooo much better than the minifigs from the Stratford opening (which I did sell on eBay for silly money though! :-)
  • legirllegirl Member Posts: 105
^ really? I so would have made the effort to go to the Stratford opening if these had been on offer!

I just wish they'd open a Lego store near me - Hello TLG there's over 2.5 million people in greater manchester, you'd think we could have one proper shop! And then yes, they could give us one of those awesome Lego mini-shops. (I have a bad feeling that they're restricted from opening one by the LDC)
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
^ You're not that far from Liverpool. We want one on the east side of the Pennines.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^ True, but I work in Manchester centre and could walk there every day - bliss. And to be honest its a good hour by either road or rail plus the same back. Just not worth it.

Meadowhell is clearly where the Yorkshire shop should be! ;-)

    Lovely little model. WANT!
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,916
Trafford Centre and Megahell are the obvious East/West choices. But guessing they've been ruled out for various reasons so far. Either would be great, Liverpool was fun, but just a little too far for a saturday afternoon shopping trip (it didn't stop me though :P)

Trafford Centre has the LDC so Manchester City Centre makes more sense imo and its got quite a nice mix of the usual brands and higher end boutique shops. That a shop was put into Liverpool at all makes me wonder if there's a contract somewhere saying that manchester wont get one - to keep LDC happy.

I'd love one of those Lego Store sets. If anyone can help, PM me. Thanks!

Wow! The Peabody MA store is about 95 miles from me ... so I can see me taking time off work on that Friday for a swift toodle ...

... actually, more like a Saturday visit for the Lego shop (I think it's t-shirts on Friday) ...

Love the retail store. It's frustrating they would make something so awesome, so exclusive.

I have some replicas of previous vintage exclusive sets from grand openings / other special events. If anyone is interested, pm me. Instructions aren't available anywhere; these were built from eyeing the parts list on Bricklink.

Braintree, MA opening - Baseball player
Frisco, TX opening - Bucking Bronco
    Raleigh, NC opening - Lighthouse

I also have a couple sets from the Lego Ambassador program (re-creations as well)
    Las Vegas - Eiffel Tower
Legoland California 10th anniversary - Cupcake (really awesome)

@Yellowcastle: Ok that makes sense. I thought you bribed someone to get you one. I got one for someone on Brickset.
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
    ^ I bribed them with a grandchild. ;o)

Any chance this could be a preview of a possible upcoming Modular-sized building?

I have a feeling you will have a choice of the three gifts for every $35 purchase! Would be great if they gave you the full whack though!

There's someone on the forum who works with brand retail for the UK, but his username has completely gone... Anyway he pretty much said that we wouldn't get one in Manchester due to the LDC. However last year at the LEGOSHOW Megan Rothrock said that it was based on amount of [email protected] orders from an area, and hopefully the LEGOSHOW would increase those so we might get a store. However I don't know who is correct.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,333
@spacecake, unfortunately that's not how it works. I've been to a store opening and they do a different give away per day. It looks like Saturday will be the building set give away with minimum $35 purchase. I think I can recreate this on my own for minimum cost. I would just be missing the flat round 1x1 clear round tiles and the Lego sticker.

Different gift for every day. Day one: T-Shirt, Day 2: Store Set, Day 3: Exclusive minifig set.

    Ahhhhh, I see!

I tried to PAB and Bricklink the pieces I need, and it would cost (with shipping) more than the set purchase minimum.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
I've ordered some parts via Bricklink to build a few of these. I would possibly consider taking some pre-orders. If anyone is interested, pm me. Parts would be a mix of new and pre-owned.

But it is not "official", if you know what i'm saying. ;-)

Correct. But 100% accurate with parts; online instructions link. Sticker is still a question mark.

Not saying this is a perfect example, but have you thought about using this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3068bpb214 ?

Thanks. Those would work. A lot of my parts are coming from Germany anyways, so it'll be 3-4 weeks until I'll have it ready to go.

Does anyone know when the Overland Park Kansas one is opening (exact date)? My sister agreed to go to it for me to get the mini store set.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Made mine last night, its a nice model and a great revenue in terms of both piece count and design. It is however very dark inside which is a shame because you can't make out the nice internal detail.
