Nashville, TN Store Opening - and LEGO Store Set

Grand Opening weekend for the Nashville store is April 27-29. Looks like they are doing the free exclusive minifig set with $35 purchase(on Sunday), but they are also doing a free exclusive LEGO Store set with $35 purchase on Saturday. Anyone ever see this? Is this the first store opening to offer this set? I wonder if it comes in a box or polybag.

WOW! That mini LEGO store set looks AMAZING. Would love to have that for the Vancouver store opening. Much better than the regular T-shirt. \

EDIT: Btw, the Victor, NY store also has the same LEGO Store set.

That little Lego store set looks so cute.

Ahh! I wish I lived there! That mini store looks awesome. Whoever goes, can you please post the instructions?! Maybe I can build one with spare parts.

    @starfire2 Will do.

Hmm... Might just be a good weekend to go visit friends there.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@graphite Come, there may be a bunch of brickset people here. Though Dan's the only one who's committed so far.

^ I have them already, thank you. I am just waiting on parts I ordered to complete it.

I wonder if the actual set is a boxed set or just stored in a Ziploc bag?
  • bluemoosebluemoose Member Posts: 1,716
My money is on it being a boxed set, like the Brickley or the Two holiday sets fom last Christmas, which were 330000x numbered sets.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
I'm going in a bit, photographs of what exactly? The set? Volunteering all day so won't be posting anything real soon.

I'd love to see the Lego store set in whatever box/bag it comes in.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
^^ The lineup, the master model build, the exclusive items. You know, just so I can get a sense of what I can expect for the Vancouver opening. :)

You are correct! Confirmed on Toys N Bricks.

There's already one up on Ebay for $79.99 starting bid or $99.99 buy it now. Crazy!

^ Wow! But I don't blame them for the price since they had to spend $35, drive to the store and line up. After seeing the box, I want this even more now!

EDIT: Upon posting this, the first listing has already been sold at $88.

So how many of these are expected to be on hand for store openings? I was thinking of going to one of the openings but didn't want to waste the trip if I couldn't get the set.

'jal4u2c' on Toys N Bricks mentioned that the Nashville store had enough sets for 200 customers. Not that many as I could imagine some fans lining up over and over again to get multiple free sets.

@Jenni - I'm assuming as a volunteer you were given both the LEGO store set and the minifig set?
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
I'll have to make a trip to the Elizabeth NJ opening... just wish I'd known when the Elmhurst NYC store opened, didn't live as close as I do now but I would have loved to have gotten one of the Red Bird 7 Train Subway cars

@sidersdd No, I had to send Jon to buy something as I didn't have an opportunity. Will have to do the same with the minifigs tomorrow. Did get my discount though :).

@scratchdesk I don't know how many they had but they didn't sell out until 3:30 according to the store. That's got to be more than 200. We had 1,950 people come to build and most of them had been to the LEGO store in the morning. There was a really long line, and the check out time at the store was an hour for some time.

Didn't end up taking any photos there, sorry, way too much going on and the build was a fair way from the store. Will try to remember tomorrow, at least of the build site.

My husband just told me that when he went at 1 pm he had to wait outside because there were too many people in there at the time, three hours after opening.

That's a little disappointing. When we volunteered at the Indianapolis store opening we were given the minifig pack - without a purchase requirement. I assumed they'd do the same with the store set. I'm sure each opening gets to determine what they give to the volunteers.

Was Dan Steininger the master builder there?
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,390
When I worked the Pleasanton store grand opening last September the volunteers were not given minifigs either.

@sidersdd I'm assuming so, he was a Dan. Is there something in the name that ensures LEGO building talent? :) It was being run by the district manager John.

Nice. I wish I had building talent. Dan Steininger is great. Awesome with the kids.

Vancouver is getting Erik, the guy who built the massive Venator:

Hopefully I'll get to get a photo with him. :)
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
Dan is fantastic at interacting with the kids. I didn't see a lot of him till the impromptu spongebob building contest. He was hilarious through that.

*sticks out tongue* to your building talent comment. I can't imagine having a brain that comes up with the answers you do to building questions.

I'm just wondering how early to get to the store. I'm going to both days in Milwaukee and curious how many people were in line.
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,332
When I went to the store opening in Phoenix AZ, we got there at 9 am and there was already a small line forming. We were like number 20 in line. We got the freebie set, but I still wish we were there earlier.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
    Build on Sunday morning
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,332
I think that is the same builder that was at the Phoenix store opening.

Does anyone know the size and weight of the Lego Exclusive Store who got it?
    For shipping purposes
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
    @Lego_moose 11.7 oz, 10 x 5 x 2 inches. Each of those dimensions are a little under.

@starfire2 There aren't many Master Builders so it's entirely likely. He chatted with Jon and I during disassembly and took breaks to read my daughter's book with her. Truly a lovely guy. I hope he comes back for the one year anniversary.

I don't suppose any of you have an extra store set to trade or sell?
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@Russell844 I only have one, and I had to specifically spell out to my husband that he needed to go and get one right away when he arrived at the build at 1pm. It's going to be at every store opening, the prices will go down.
  • brclark82brclark82 Member Posts: 217
It's good to hear he got one at 1pm, sounds like they had at least a decent amount. Any idea on what time they sold out? My wife and I are heading to Milwaukee on the 12th but was a little concerned about being able to get one since we won't be there right at open.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@brclark82 3:30 apparently and it was extremely busy with all four registers running all day. There are only 500 sets of minifigures but it was a lot quieter on Sunday, I don't know when they ran out. I'll ask tomorrow if we go for the mini build.

    @Jenni Thanks
  • romdamromdam Member Posts: 136
Is there a limit to how many times you can go thru line? There are 3 of us going to Milwaukee and I am taking a ton of cash. I think I will save most fo Sunday to get the figures as those have been SELLING for $100 - $125 per. Not auctioning, but selling. Geez, If I can get 10 sets of them...

The LEGO Store Grand Opening is tomorrow for the Vancouver store and I have one question for all of you, are the t-shirts that are being handed out in child sizes only?
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@legobrandoncp no. We were given one later and it's an adult size even though he was giving it to my daughter.

I second this request: I'm looking toward the Alpharetta store in June and want to know if I can leg it myself, if I can be "that guy" who makes everybody wait while I parcel out X number of $35 purchases, or if I need to drag the fam down and line us all up...
