Hello All, I have tried to convert the Log Cabin into a medieval house and was wondering what you all thought and if anyone had tried it before, its not perfect but its great for those who are a little budget shy or not a fan of massive bricklink orders.

I think it's a good job, except for the dark grey bricks in the walls. But that's a problem with a limited number of bricks if you stick to specific sets.

Could you not just change the windows on the log cabin? Seems a shame to mix it all up. Was thinking of doing something similar if I got the City Forest Robber's Hideout thing set.

well for me what had to go was the windows and the door, but the other stuff is just for my own amusment, I have three blacksmith attacks so using one to enchance this build was no real problem. I was thinking of the Robbers Hideout set too, but so far I haven't taken the plunge and bought it.

I also am not a great fan of the dark grey, but hey thats why I had the limited bicks from the sets only, also it should be noted that i have tonnes of spare parts now :)

Nice Sven. Had there not been a City Forest theme released I would consider doing what you did. Though, this might give me incentive in picking up a log cabin if I see one on sale.

I like it. Did you consider mixing up the grey and brown bricks to give it a more thrown together look? I utilized the log cabin along with pieces from the lighthouse and an Atlantis set to build a small, medieval "fort". I'll try to post pictures later this evening.

I like it too :) I have so many ideas running through my head for changing sets, I just haven't gotten enough extra bricks or even know how to start with some MOCs LOL Like doing a museum, cinema, and I would love to figure out how to do a New Orleans house, LSU Stadium and a portion from Bourbon Street (originally from Louisiana :)

Thats a very nice little build mathew, I would be more interested to see what people make using limited bricks and I find this is often the case with me, I will have sets I don't want to destroy or mix up and then that gives me a limited selection when ever I want to be creative (its it just me).

... a portion from Bourbon Street (originally from Louisiana :)
That would look good using black telescope pieces, black 1-wide tiles and robot arms for the railings on the 1st/2nd floors, plus decorative pieces for the ground level ... I think a building or two in that mould would be very delightful!

Yep I have cross stitched one years ago :) Could do that and a green trolley car from the St. Charles line

I doubt anyone will really know what I'm on about when I say this, but it looks like Alvor the Blacksmith's House in Riverwood from Skyrim.

I really like it. I think you could add another level, and expand on the mill on the side of the house (which was a lovely touch.) I think the colour scheme needs a little work, but the brown and grey could go together if mixed up a little.

I know that house :) its the first blacksmiths you meet right and if you join the imperials he gives you loads of stuff. Thats really cool.

I will be expanding on this with other bricks in my collection, this inital build was limited only to the three sets with nothing else. What I'll do is work on this over the weekend and then post up another shot of the house complete with extra bricks from my collection.

    Cheers
