I asked this question last week no reply so here it is again: I am interested in finding a site or reference for alternate builds pictured in various older sets like batman and harry potter. I spoke with lego direct and they stated that they began listing newer versions on the website for this reason, but older sets they have not. Specifically HP knight Bus want to build the station and car pictured in back and batman set 7783 which is Batman Cave 1st version 2006 called Freeze invasion, they have two alternate builds in those books which are to hard to just look at and build. Any thoughts or direction would be most appreciated?

I think both are post 2000 so the instructions should be on lego website you can search for the set by number. I dont know of anyone who has built them and done instructions. Although Google could produce some thing

The whole idea of putting extra pictures of 'alternate' builds is for you to build them :)
I read somewhere that for the most part that LEGO stopped putting in alternate build pictures because too many parents were contacting them to get instructions. If you look up 7140 for example on the LEGO website, there is a cartoon at the back that has various alternate builds. LEGO is all about creativity... be creative, you do not have to be perfect.

^Yeah, I always thought that was the point of the alternate builds: figure out how to build it from just looking at the pictures and maybe learn something in the process. Of course, in those days I could focus on build, and I actually had time to experiment, fail, and try again a few times. Nowadays, I can barely find the time to build the primary models for many of my new purchases!
