[Ireland] First Lego Store opening in August

Muftak1Muftak1 Member Posts: 550
Just wondered were any members planning on going to the opening of Irelands first Lego store in August?

I made sure our holidays were booked with a view to being back in the country before the opening day and that I had per-emptively warned my manager that I'd be taking the night before off so I could travel up to Dublin.

Haven't a clue if they'll have any exclusives for the opening but I plan on picking up the Galaxy Explorer and Boutique Hotel...

I can't make it to the actual opening day because of work. How inconsiderate of my colleague booking holidays a year in advance and not predicting a Lego shop opening before it was even announced!
Anyway, I've booked off the day before since a pre-opening thing is apparently happening for LUGs. I don't really know the details.
No idea if there will be exclusives for the opening or any GWPs at all. I've never been to any of the Lego Stores so can't wait to see what it's like really. Still not sure what set(s) I'll get on the day but just want to have a go at BAM and PAB stuff in person.
I can see the shop being packed on the day since the schools will still be off though.

I booked a day for the pre opening ,I'll assume it's a "promo day" and a "see our new store" , I guess there'll be a gift ,I've been given the brief  that a Disney trip is planned for next year so all finances  to be diverted to fund this. I build a pot of tips every so often(mostly coin) but I don't know if this pre opening event is a sale day, might be worth bringing minifigs to swap or a go at the minifig station.

I hadn't heard of the pre-opening day... Is there anywhere that gives details?

It may be a LUG event ,but it's probably a press release style event as I can imagine the opening day will be a jampacked event so less press  opportunities.I nearly hope it's not a sales  event too as I'll feel the need to get something!

My (ridiculous) plan is to leave Galway around midnight and park in Dublin after 2am (I found a 24hour car park nearby) and then just sit outside the store from then! My 14 year old has decided he's going to come up too so we picked up 2 of those folding camping chairs in Dunnes!

I do have one tid-bit of information: Adell, the Birmingham store manager, is going over to assist in store set-up.

Anyone heard any news on the promotions for the grand opening? Is it going to be any special sets like they did for Amsterdam store?

Still heard nothing about any promotions but guessing it'll be the usual "store". There was mention a few weeks back about a possible I heart Dublin printed tile but heard no more. I'm heading up myself hoping to be there by 5:30 am, interesting to see what the queue is like considering it's midweek and holiday season

There's no opening promotion listed on the store page for lego.com. When Leicester Square London had its reopening last week the promotions were listed there. So it looks like it will just be whatever normal promotion is active.

Worth noting there is a wristband system in place. I believe wristbands with timeslots of strictly 30 mins in store will be given from 8.30am tomorrow, and each day until Sunday. There is strictly no queueing outside of having  the wristbands according to multiple media articles. So anyone who arrives early may be asked to move on by any lego pr/gardi on Grafton Street. You could be there from 5am and be given a store slot of 4.30pm almost 12 hours later.

#40528 with €120 spend is the promo.

Store is great. Staff are great. Privileged to have been invited through my  Lug to a pre opening event this evening.

Thanks for the update, not a bad set and threshold. Great to hear, You're very lucky to get the invite, no doubt much less manic than it will be tomorrow 😁

It was pretty manic - we only have 30 minutes to get in and out.

Got the store promo and printed tile when we left the store

Definitely a bit manic, will need to go back soon to have a more relaxed look around. The tile is very nice and great to add to the collection.
