Help with Charity Find

Hi all,

Long time Brickset user, first time poster.

I am looking for some details about a couple of sets I have found. I volunteer in a charity warehouse that processes donations and lists them for sale on eBay, all proceeds to the charity.

Last weekend I discovered a box of Lego tucked away, most of it 90s theme stuff like western, bionicle etc. What was interesting is a 2nd box that had come in and had some trains in it.

Now I am not really into the train sets so my knowledge is limited, hence why I am here. I believe the sets are quite rare but was hoping to get a bit of background on them and what my best options are for raising maximum money for the charity with them.

I believe I have:

3x 10022
2x 10025
2x 10020

The sets are partially built but I am confident I can complete most of them using the 2 other boxes of Lego that came with them. I am generally just after some history on thesets themselves and thoughts on whether i should sell all as one or split them. Just to clarify, this is not a sale for me, but for the charity I voluenteer at.

Thanks!

I'm no expert on these or trains in general, but even I know they are super rare and sought after. According to Brickset's database, each one of these is worth around £200+ used. So that's potentially £1,500 of train sitting there.

I'd have thought it would be a shame to split it up if you could make someone's life/collection by selling the entire train to a single person.

I'll let others weigh in on where best to sell, but I'm sure you'd get some interested people on here and not have to deal with ebay/PayPal fees.

Probably would be smart to split the Metroliner from the Santa Fe stuff as a separate lot. I would group all the SF stuff together while indicating each piece included.

What you will get for it really depends on how you try to sell it. I'd put them on ebay, if your store does Internet sales. That sort of thing would sit for ages if you price it at market price in a charity shop.

Thanks, yes it will be an ebay job once done. I've started to build them back up to get complete sets, 3 out of 9 built so far! Should get a better price then.

Looking through the boxes is quite nostalgic really, it's pretty much every theme I had as a child (bar the trains)

The car with stripes is probably a 10002 Railroad Club Car. I would sell it separately and I don't think it's complete based on what I can see. It also looks like one of the engines is missing the windshield and top. I don't think you'll complete all of the cars either based on what I can see. The engine with the metal wheels has the 9V drive motor.

You could always BrickLink the missing parts as long as they aren't too expensive.
