9V mingling with PF track

I'm not sure if this has been discussed in a previous thread, so if it has, my apologies. I have a good amount of 9V track, and a few 9V trains. I've decided to bite the bullet and I have gotten some PF trains (as well as EN and the Maersk Train). I have switches for both 9V and the ones that came with the yellow cargo train. Is there any danger in switching trains between the two types? I know PF can run on 9V track, but is that only if it's not plugged in and "live"?
