I'm tempted to get it, and being an OT purist, just refer to it as Chrome Silver 3PO to go with my gold one. Then I hope they make a bronze one.
  • greekmickgreekmick Member Posts: 710
^^ crazy asking price just to have the figure two weeks before everyone else. If the figure was around £25-£30 probably would be tempted as I would only spend on 4th May just to get the figure. Not much I really want in the SW range at the moment unless they discounted something.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
At least for me it says I might not get the figure until the 8th May anyway! Not that I would dream of buying one.
  • AnseltheCatAnseltheCat Member Posts: 141
I've just seen this on eBay right now, how on earth did they get over ten of these a month early?

    Only 7 available now.

"Due To The Easter Holiday We Will Ship Out This Item After 13 Apr. 2012" - do they celebrate easter much in Honk Kong?

"Why is it always Hong Kong!"- Because they're produced in china and that's when they fell off the back of the lorry?
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
^That's one long lorry journey :P He won't be able to get enough petrol to get back either.

I noticed these on ebay for 120 bucks from someone in China? Are these made there? If so, are legos made there now and no one is telling? Any ideas? Also, I am unfamiliar with licensing for Lego, but, i'm pretty sure there may be a sale issue there. Especially since Lego.com doesn't even have them available in any capacity at this point...

I noticed there was free shipping the last 2 years. Has there been any hint of free shipping during the May 4th event this year?
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,117
^^Lego has moved some production out there. The fact that the guy from Hong Kong does have some suggests either a good scam or he has knicked some from the wharehouse. As TK is only available from lego shop at home or bm stores.

^most likely there will be. Although lego really need to offer a perminate free shipping option

The market has already been contaminated by lots of different auctions:
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l2736&_nkw=lego+tc+14

Notice how some of them say that this is a "pre-order" and won't ship for 15-30 days.
  • cynthilinacynthilina Member Posts: 188
Bah let them sell those stupid things like that. I will buy a set and my wife will buy a set at 75+ each and get 2 for free anyways from Lego.com. These people preselling them are just trying to make a really fast buck and once again you have no idea what they can get seeing as how these are suppose to be giveaways with other purchases.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
I feel like making an auction with the same name and title, but just at $0.01 price and then in the description just tell everyone not to buy these figures yet because they will be available in a couple weeks for much cheaper. I used to see people do this when others would try to sell the CMF decoder sheets.

Anybody's got a clue if the promo applys to whole Europe? For Germany the May-calendar is not online yet!
  • SecretjediSecretjedi Member Posts: 175
This be in the UK as well??
  • The_Brick_BuilderThe_Brick_Builder Member Posts: 658
How much will the figure's cost go down when its available at [email protected]? If its about $120 right now, maybe $30-$50?
  • AFFOL_Shellz_BellzAFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Member Posts: 1,263
It would be wise for us Lego collectors to refuse to buy from those people who choose to auction things they either don't have yet or came by illegally. We don't do collectors any good by paying outrageous prices just to have them first!

My guess is it goes down to $35 or so. And that's only because it's chrome. If it wasn't then I would say $25, because this years promo is just like last years with the ARF trooper, which sells on eBay for a consistent rate of $25.
That's for immediate market value. In a few years however, I can see this figure rising in value.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but will one be able to go to a Lego Store and get TC-14 with a $75 purchase or is it just an online purchase?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
^ Both, although availabilty instore will be limited - in the UK anyway.
  • ChillsChills Member Posts: 9
Thanks, Flump. I'll get to the Lego Store early, and if none are in stock I'll order online. I just like coming home with the sets instead of waiting. ;)

I have a question. Can you use your VIP points eligible for this promotion?
  • SupersympaSupersympa Member Posts: 534
@weinner, as long as the total amount is more than USD 75, yes

example: you buy for 86 USD, you redeem 10 USD, so 76...it works
you buy for 84.99 and you redeem 10 USD, so 74.99...it does NOT work
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
    ^ I respectfully disagree.

I understand that as long as the purchase price was more than $75, then you could pay for it using either cash or points and still be elliable for the promotion.

Spending points to reduce the amount of cash required isn't the same as using a discount voucher.

So if the item is $84.99 and I redeem $10 worth of points to bring required cash down to $74.99, I still get the promo. I will however only get new points for the full $74 I spent.

    ^ That's what I think too...

Has it been confirmed anywhere that the price for the UK will be of £50? What is their behaviour in respect of multiple orders? If you have two distinct £50 order to the same address will they send you two TC-14? Did this also happen in the past?
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
AvengerDr: That's what i'm hoping for! Planning on buying a Y-wing and a little something (assuming I have to keep it SW - so probably a key ring) to bump it up over £50 for 1 order, then buying the UCS R2 on another order with my accumulated £30 worth of points for £120 spend to get another TC-14. If they're 2 separate orders then I would hope to get a TC-14 with each £50/$75 order. If address is the issue i'll send one order to work and another home.

^^ @AvengerDr I did post quite a while back that it is £50, so maybe you want confirmation from someone else, but I have seen it on an official document so can assure you it is indeed £50.
I am pretty confident if you make 2 orders of over £50 (of star wars sets) you will get a free TC-14 with each. The website will add it automatically.

Thanks guys, either way I'll be in the clear because I'm planning on getting R2 and have 85.00 USD saved up.
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
I'd just love to know whether there will be a % discount on all Star Wars items and if so what it will be. Debating whether to use a 10% coupon on the Death Star now or wait for a better deal.
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
@princedraven: that's great, I must have missed your previous post..
That's it then.. I'll be there on May the 3rd at 23:59 :) I just hope they don't make different discounts on the 4th and on the 5th (if they do).. Like the 4th they discount rebel sets and the 5th they discount imperial sets. It could make sense though :D

If that's the case my GF will be upset at me fora lil.lol
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
Any ideas what time this will start on the 4th? 00:00 EST? 00:00 GMT?
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
If the Death Star gets discounted more heavily than a standard discount on everythin SW on the 4th/5th I think it will be getting retired. I personally hope not otherwise i'll have to buy one to put by for my nephew and get my sister to pay me back monthly until Xmas. He's been asking if he can have mine if I die, he wants it that much!
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
As per princedraven's post, once you have an eligible purchase, the TC-14 should be added to your basket. That's the way it happened with my Xmas scene freebie last year.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492

It starts at 12:00-12:01am EST. Once the clock strikes that time, be refreshing your page like crazy. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the deals to finally pop up, but when they do they all come up at the same time and go within minutes.

Thanks. So sounds like online is the best bet for the deals? Or have you also had good luck in stores themselves?
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
^^ I hope that midnight EST concerns the US shop alone.. Don't tell me I'll have to wake up at 5/6 (?) in the morning as well :D
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
EST is 4hours behind GMT in the summer - quite a commitment to get up for 4am on a Friday for us in the UK before work. Are we really expecting much in the way of deals this year? The Xmas deals were almost non existent (in the UK at least). I'm expecting nothing off R2, nothing off the Y-Wing I want, and free delivery as well as the TC-14.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
I was adamant I was going to get R2 for this deal, but the more time goes on, the more I feel I am slightly going off it. My pick will probably also be the Y-Wing to go with the X-Wing and Tie I got from Argos recently. Can't wait for the free fig though!
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
If I remember correctly from last year I think the deals were pretty poor on May 4th.
Think it was free delivery, but think the discounts were only 10-15% and only on a few select items. I picked up the AT-AT as I was going to get it anyway and wanted the Shadow Arf, but sure I only got a small discount on it.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
@richio: Yes, I have 9492, 9493 and 8017 all hanging from the ceiling in the computer room, just need the Y-wing to finish it off. Not sure if the R2 is worth £150 as it looks to be 2100 tiny pieces, but I have £30 worth of VIP points to cash in and if I get 2 x TC-14, they should be worth £30 each in the short term. Keep them long enough and it might almost fully offset the cost of R2.

Traditionally are these type of figs gone in hours never to return? Or does the website / stores refresh throughout the month? Just looking for best guesses.

@princedraven - Last years deals were indeed poor, much worse than years past.

^^ Yeah that's not bad judging by previous figures re-sell value.

@flump6523 - last year's deals were indeed poor, the only one I can remember is the Clone swamp speeder priced £26.99. I can't see this year being any better?
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
It's not quite clear to me if the deal starts at midnight EST for the whole world.. Has that been so even for last year? If so many EU customers are going to be disappointed...
