Last clue:- If I were in the market for one, I wouldn't be buying a chrome C-3PO over the next month or two.
Hopefully people didn't pass by good opportunities to get a chrome C-3PO since they will have lost out based on false hopes.
Yes @flump6523, this comment IS coming back to haunt you, and so will I now ;-)

    ^ uh-oh! Lol

Really excited about both these figs, just hoping they are both available in the UK and I have some money to spend at the right time if so!
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,384
As good as this is, can somebody with concrete proof , not "sources", confirm if there is a new chrome C-3PO or is that rumour now dead
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
I really like that fig! Whoop. Wonder if it's £50 or £75 spend in UK? Does anybody have the UK calendar?
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
@richo, I looked for it but May's didn't seem to be up yet
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
Do they usually have free shipping/double VIP-points on "May the fourth"?
I can only pray that this promo-offer ain't US-exclusive (i do live in Germany)!!!

I hope those figs are available in the UK. That Hulk figure is awesome.
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
How come star wars gets all the chrome? I'd like to see a chrome CMF robot, or a brass 'diving suit guy'. Chromed finishes in the CMFs please!

Lol, no, me too - had to Google it! :-). Shows how clued up on SW TLG and I are - look the same to me and them. :-/. Should have said something really like 'chrome droid with orange eyes'. Either that or a chrome Ewok. :-)

Is that just a bad picture or are the hands, front torso and bottom of the legs not chrome?
They look almost like stickers on the torso. Hopefully just a mock-up. Although given the timing surely they should have used the real thing.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^ Exactly, when compared to photos of the gold-chrome C3PO this one looks significantly inferior.

There have never been chrome hands (to my knowledge) on any previous figs.
The torso does look different... this might be the compromise of having more detailed printing...

stickers on the torso? no thanks! can't be surely.

    @graphite - Now THERE'S a good idea. R2D2 it is.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
^^^ No idea - but they look shiny here: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=70087&colorID=0

@princedraven sorry i was being sarcastic about the people questioning if it was a may 4th promo. Rather than if you knew for sure or not. Appolgise for that.
  • vonlanivonlani Member Posts: 21
Since i didn't buy anything during those sales yet i have question. Are there additional discounts/double vip points or something like that during the sale? I don't care about shipping costs since i have a lego store around the corner;-)
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
^^ haha no worries, all good!

I'm going to guess £75 in the UK.

lucky me, may the 4th is my 30th birthday this year and i've decided that i'm in for a treat.

Just to close the loop for all the non-SW fans out there: TC-14 is the protocol droid that greets the Jedi in the opening scene of The Phantom Menace. Not an important character for the movie/storyline, but an ultra-important character for the merchandising opportunities for Lucasfilm...

^^snap i cannot wait for may 4th now. Hoping its discounted to
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
How likely is the UK/Europe to get this offer?

Might get 2. I could buy the Y wing @£49.99 and top up with a key ring or similar to take me over £50, then use my points towards buying a UCS R2-D2.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
^ we should know very soon, as the May calendar should be out shortly. It will be a total shocker if it's not. I suspect we will be ok.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
CCC whenever there's been a $75 spend criteria for something in the USA such as free shipping or a minibag, that has equated to £50 in the UK for the same deal - i'm more inclined then to think the threshold for eligible purchases will be £50 in the UK, unless Lego don't let UK/Europe have this (no crappy Tie Fighter minibag for the UK please TLG!)

My birthday is a month to the day after May 4th, but I too will be treating myself a month early. Imperial Shuttle for me.

I'm really hoping to get some sort of discount on this set for the May 4th promotion. Double VIP or Free shipping would be enough for me to pull the trigger though.

My birthday is on May 3rd. I am still thinking of buying the Imperial Shuttle.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^We all seem to have scheduled our birthdays on a very good date. Mine is May 3rd as well and it's always a good excuse to splurge on the 4th. ;-)
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Not mine lol, mine is still 7 mths and 2 wks from May 4th, lol, but I will be getting something that day anyway!
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
    ^Happy birthday 7 months and 2 weeks early @jadedanc!
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Lol thanxs @samiam391, it will be the BIG 4-0 this year....ugh
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
    Here's to 40 more @jadedanc! Still young!

Think I'll be going the R2 route as well to get my TC-14.. or see what items go on sale at 12:01am.

  • weinnerweinner Banned Posts: 148
I want to go the DS route but I don't think that's a wise decision at this moment so I'm probably going with the R2 unit.
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,117
^I thought that but i dont think the ds will be about much longer where as r2 will be. So id pull the trigger now rather than wait. As i think it will rocket on the after market
  • AnseltheCatAnseltheCat Member Posts: 141
@jadedanc 40 doesn't seem half so bad once you get there, honest.

I will be getting an R2 unit on the fourth like a few others here and I am very much looking forward to a shiny TC-14.

I kinda wish it was a new chromed C-3PO as I would really like one but have left it far too late to buy one on eBay now, I should have b
  • vonlanivonlani Member Posts: 21
It's nice to see, how a lot of us have a birthday on or around may 4th. So we all have a good excuse to buy something pretty;-)
I will probably be going down the DS road and save R2 for christmas.
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
To bump a question made some posts above: do you know how likely TLG is to discount any set on that day?
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
    Not very likely.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
AvengerDr: A freebie (TC-14) and free shipping is all you're likely to get on the new stuff - might be lucky enough to get a bit of discount on anything that is being discontinued now Would be amazed if they offered double VIP points on top of that. Surely some current UCS SW stuff has to go to make up for the R2D2 and supposedly forthcoming UCS B-wing? Maybe we'll see the demise of the Deathstar and Obi-Wan's star fighter? If that were to happen, I don't think they'd discount the Deathstar as it'll sell out at full price anyway - if the speculators get wind it's definitely going they'll be buying it up in bulk.
  • DaddyDeuceDaddyDeuce Member Posts: 272
^ I'm hoping for the bonus minifig, free shipping, double VIP, and 40% off all Star Wars sets. I'd also like LEGO to send someone to my house to wash my car and organize my garage. :-)
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
I guess it will be the time to buy some exclusives such as Anakin's PT spaceship (the newest one) or Gold Leader's Y-wing
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
Both TC-15 and Hulk are min £50 purchase in UK.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
    ^ thanks princedraven.

Just the info I was looking for.

Do you know if you do two seperate orders, are you allowed two?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
    ^ That's usually the case.
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
Yes, but one per transaction, so you will not get 7 with a SSD for example.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
... you will not get 7 with a SSD for example....
Darn, that's foiled my cunning plan then! :P
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
Shipping from... Hong Kong. Why is it always Hong Kong! Surely anyone with half a lego-brain is going to know they can get one of these AND a lego set for £50/$75 rather than forking out $119 JUST for a fig...
