    @georgebjones
If there had been a prize, you, sir, would have won it. :)

Aargh, Spongebob, I have something to say!
It's better to burn patties, than fade away!

There can be only ONE... secret recipe.

I know it is the day for sharing fake news, but this isn't. A reader at theBrickBlogger
shared an interesting piece of news he received from a LEGO designer while at
the LEGO WORLD event earlier this year; there is a new chrome-gold C-3PO promotional
minifigure coming! Here is his post about their visit to LEGO WORLD and the details:
    http://thebrickblogger.com/2012/04/lego-star-wars-new-chrome-gold-c-3po-coming/

I thought to share it with you guys, in case any of you are sitting on the old
ones and planning to sell them for high-prices - those prices may not last with
the new version coming out shortly. Or perhaps they will go up - you never know,
but at least you have some time to plan your strategy. (The reader said the new
ones will be available in the summer.) I'm not clear on how they are planning
to do the colored wires part. Maybe in color? Or just black? Anyhow, just wanted
to give you guys a heads up....(c:

  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,940
Didn't @flump6523 hint at something, I can't remember the original thread though.

And there was I hoping for a chromed General Grievous :p
  • akunthitaakunthita Member Posts: 1,038
    That would be awesome! :D
  • akunthitaakunthita Member Posts: 1,038
@sidersdd. Thanks! Great to know someone else also confirms this! I'm not sure about the reference to the orange eyes though. Does this mean the new chrome C-3PO could in fact have color printing? That would be a first, and very awesome!...(c:
  • fyrmedhattfyrmedhatt Member Posts: 128
It appears to be a chrome version of the new C3PO with printed eyes, and I guess the eyes are printed orange instead of tan. We probably will have the same problem of C3PO's eyes being offset as well I'm guessing.

    Pruneface!

I'm sure he has some EU name but as I regard the EU as crap I haven't bothered to learn it. I just remember the old Kenner action figure which was called Pruneface.

^ I'll probably get a load of stick for this, but I had to think for a while before I got what you were on about!

For anyone else like me, he means he regards the (Star Wars) Extended Universe as crap, not the European Union!
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,117
@Prof1515 Nope I dont think he ever did get a name. In honour of @Matthew confusion we can call him Silvo
  • collect_thatcollect_that Member Posts: 1,327

@legomatt I love robot Chicken, Palpatine was awesome :D
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
@Matthew. When I first read that yesterday I thought the exact same thing - seemed a little harsh to right off an area with a population of about half a billion people, but perhaps fair enough.

    3-CPO .... C-3PO's confused brother.

You can all thank me later :o)

    PRUNEFACE!
Wow, Pruneface is a bad-ass. And the EU (in both senses) is baloney :P.
I do have one question though... 3-CP0?

    ;)
    Yep, he's C-3PO's bounty-hunting step-brother :P. Good spot! lol.

    Doh! Ninja'd by Si.

@legomatt - if you are referring to the permalink, that is totally my bad. I was typing too fast - never a good idea...)c:

The link in the OP appears to be broken, but I found it here: http://thebrickblogger.com/2012/04/lego-star-wars-new-chrome-gold-3-cpo-coming/

No confirmation about how the minifig will be released, so doesn't seem to be a foregone conclusion yet that it's the May 4th promo item.
  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
    ^ It's the May 4th promo!

he means he regards the (Star Wars) Extended Universe as crap, not the European Union!
Actually, it stands for the (Star Wars) Expanded Universe. ;-P

As for the European Union, I like those chaps!
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,117
@Prof1515 off topic I like the EU to its kinda like a big what would happen if you gave kids power experiment :-D.

@princedraven but how do we know it is the May 4th Promo. Aside from this whole disscussion and @Flumps6523 hinting and your telling. How do we know that :-D

I changed the date on the post as several people thought it was a joke and I felt bad for the author. I didn't know that changing the date will change part of my permalink too though. Eh... so now that it already became broken after the change, I thought I might as well also fix the c-3po thing. Sorry about all of that. Here is the new link:

^^ Redbull, I have heard from 3 completely separate sources, so am pretty confident. The only question in my head is if it is also the freebie on revenge of the fifth, or if that will be a different promo.
  • akunthitaakunthita Member Posts: 1,038
@rocao, oh, thank you so much! That's so nice of you! Thanks again!..(c:

    ^ It's the May 4th promo!
You mean we're NOT getting a chrome Ewok? :-o

    :)

Very interesting, I wouldn't be too happy if I'd recently paid the going rate for a chrome C-3PO.

Just saw the May calendar today. It is a chrome silver protocol droid. TC-14. It looks like the new design with the wires showing, but in chrome silver. Not chrome gold. Also a new hulk minifigure with purchase of $50 May 16-31. This is the US calendar, so no clue about overseas.

^No, if you read the thread again, he was saying to give the prize to the person who said he had a bad motivator and such, which was the comment above. He just got ninja'd and chose not to correct anyone. :)
  • bricksanbricksan Member Posts: 566
Was just about to post the same but @LegobrandonCP beat me two it :)

Both mini figs look awesome :)

What's cut off at the bottom of the calendar pic? "Visit your local LEGO store to get exclusive LEGO Star Wars..."
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Is that just a bad picture or are the hands, front torso and bottom of the legs not chrome?
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
Wow, going to try and get myself a few of those. Figure looks great!

Considering how different it is from the old original Chrome C-3PO, I'm almost convinced enough to say that it won't make much of an impact on the original. I mean, both figures look so different, and it doesn't seem like the "exclusivity" of this figure is as much as the 1/10,000.

  • prof1515prof1515 Member Posts: 1,550
Last clue:- If I were in the market for one, I wouldn't be buying a chrome C-3PO over the next month or two.
Hopefully people didn't pass by good opportunities to get a chrome C-3PO since they will have lost out based on false hopes.
  • brickupdatebrickupdate Member Posts: 1,020
Wow - these both look great! Now, to figure out what to buy...

Does anyone know anything about availability of new wave of SW sets during
'May the Furth be with you'?
  • ThegoThego Member Posts: 264
Lovely figs, but why are all these SW exclusives either PT or EU? I'd love an OT exclusive!
