Custom pineapple for Green Grocer... any ideas?

So... thanks to Psych... I have a long-standing obsession with pineapples and I was trying to create one to add to the Green Grocer. My solution for the moment is to drop a carrot top into a yellow 1x1 round brick... but this seems lacking... especially the 'leaves.' So I was wondering if anyone on here had happened to create a minifig scale pineapple that perhaps would work much better than what I have.

you could maybe use a bunch of these to make one, might be too big though

you could make the holes of yellow flowers bigger and thread them onto the carrot stalk. Stagger them slightly for a better effect.

^I may just try that. Thanks for the idea!

aren't pineapples brown/green on the outside? The 'meat' is yellow but a plain uncut pineapple shows none... I'd think a brown semi-circular design with a yellow plate would be a better representation?

They are brown and green, but I didn't like the way mine looked when I did it in brown (either shade). Yellow and orange seem to be the go-to colors when making cartoon or balloon animal pineapples, and I don't mind how the yellow looks here. The flowers could solve the texturing dilemma... but that still doesn't help me with the 'spiky' leaves I desire.

Throw a couple swiveled flower stems on top for the spikes?
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^I may try this as well. I'll post back here with all the different variations I try. Had to order the flowerheads and stems, though, so it could be awhile.

    How about this?
    image

It's essentially three bright-light orange colored round 1x1 plates with flowered edges (from Emma's Splash Pool), with a dark green plume (from Dragon Knight). I don't have my lightbox and camera setup right now so the photo isn't the greatest.

Another option is to use a trans-green flame. I didn't have trans-green, but when I tried with a trans-orange, it looked a little long for the pineapple. Plus it's transparent, so that's a little weird. But it's nice in that it sticks straight up, more like the pineapple leaves do.

This tiara might work in trans-green:

Or this piece looks nice as leaves - but they are only in white:

^I don't care for the plume, but I REALLY like the way the body turned out. I think I'm going to try that with two clipped flower stems on top and see how they turn out. Off the top of your head do you know the 'official' LEGO name for those pieces and if they're available on PaB?

LEGO color code is 4624184 for the bright light orange.
Looks like they might call it "Bracelet Upper Part":

You could take one of these:

Add brown 1x1 tiles to each side, and then stick one of those green "leaf" pieces on the top. If it's not large enough just take another http://www.bricklink.com/PL/4733.gif?0 and stick it on the bottom of the other, and add brown 1x1 tiles to those sides too.

I was just looking at photos for #41010, noticed how they did the pineapple in this set, and remembered this thread.

Also #41035 which is the same build but it appears the head is printed with a pineapple pattern, at least it looks that way on the box.

Ah, yep, I see that now. Cheating, but nice.

I like the return of the red apple in that set, as well as the round printed tiles of fruit.

^Agreed, this one is on my shortlist.

i noticed it right away too... i'm really hoping for a bright light orange head in something but i'll take pineapples too anytime, great set for parts cant wait

#41035 the juice bar looks fantastic as a build and for the parts! The pineapple was hidden behind the glass at first view. We def need more fruits, etc. cool!

Does the printing on that pineapple piece actually run all the way around it, or is it just carefully positioned in the picture to show the best bit?

Not sure how LEGO putting a design on a 1 x 1 blank Minifig head is 'cheating' I mean it IS LEGO doing it. Just be thankful it is a printed design and not a sticker.

The design on the pineapple goes all the way around the head, and it looks wonderful in the #41035 Juice Bar which I just built. Lucked out and received a second pineapple head, so there will be lots of smoothies tonight! This is a killer set! Just left a few comments on the set page.

I was joking. The spirit of the OP was essentially what parts can I use to make a minifig pineapple. Printing on parts just seemed like a less creative way to solve the task. :)

There are some other new interesting parts in this set. The 1x1 round juicer piece:

and the new inverted dome piece:

Gotcha, The juicer, and I presume, its 'base' are neat. This is one reason why I like the Friends line, there are some real nice utility pieces that you can use in a LEGO house or a store front. I want to build an appliance store and LEGO is making it easier and easier.

There are new parts with the #41039 Sunshine Ranch set as well:

    3x3 Cross Plate

    1x1 Cookie Tile

    2x2 Corner Tile

I look at that part and see a nice large drill head (but still small enough to be handled by a minifig).

And it will probably appear in white and pink to be used for cupcakes.

Shouldn't there be 2? On the box image there is one behind the window and one in the box next to Naya.
  • legogallegogal Member Posts: 754
Wow! Good point! It does look like there are two on the box photo. So this must be the second one. What a cool piece, and there are two in each box. Great!

If there is a Train in the Friends line, will it be the "Pineapple Express" :)

Sounds great to me…but then I love pineapple! Let 'er rip!
While you are at it, please throw in a few fresh strawberries a la #41026, Sunshine Harvest, which arrived as I shopped in our LEGO store this afternoon. Olivia is cruising the farm on a mean, pastelly tractor! Wooohooo!
  • jasorjasor Member Posts: 839
^My girl loved the pic of that tractor. She hates pastel and girly colors, but still the Friends stuff appeals to her.

Great thinking, @y2josh, on a couple pineapples for GG. It's going on the list
