There’s literally one that properly interests me - the Steampunk Airship. Though it will need some significant changes to the structure supporting the ‘blimp’ to meet Lego’s standards I suspect.

There’s just so many things in this review that have so many reasons why they wouldn’t be made. The Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers one for example isn’t going to happen because the Brickheadz is already designed for that.

There are 5 medieval/castle designs, 3 based on real space/flight (less than normal) and 4 based on trains. Plus 4 or 5 modular or pseudo-modular attempts.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I'll gladly take both of the WV themed sets!

I'd also be partial to the Satisfactory Constructor as I have more hours in that game than I care to admit.

Yet again, many well designed/beautiful sets. But not sure any in this round will make the cut in the end?

I’d love to see the Concorde get made. At least it doesn’t have the military connection of the SR-71. The Schwebebahn is cool except they didn’t actually hang it from the rail, which is lame. I could see a couple of the smaller sets get made, like the Koala, or the Tales of the Space Age. The Sherlock Holmes one is nice, but huge. But it does have the advantage that the Holmes characters are now in the public domain.

"There are 5 medieval/castle designs, 3 based on real space/flight (less than normal) and 4 based on trains. Plus 4 or 5 modular or pseudo-modular attempts." Hmmm I wonder if there's a message in that... Lego really should learn from that.

Just on trains for example, I completely understand and accept many arguments made as to why kids may not be interested in trains. But I see no reason as to why Lego can't make Creator Expert level trains as there is clearly a market for them.

Also, what do people think of an Ideas theme, but just for modulars? In January we would get the official modular, then in June/July or maybe August we would get the fan modular. It would be the same as ideas but all things modular building related and a fan design would be chosen to be the Fan Design of the Year so we would get two modulars each year (which would be cool). Fan designs could also be more unique ideas, like parks, markets or half modulars.

Then Lego Ideas itself would remove all Modular sets.

There is a lot of more of the same.

There is already a better Sherlock in the CMF series, which makes this 'just' a big Victorian modular style house. Like many things on there, nice MOC but I wouldn't buy.

Only certain stories and elements of the character. That likely wouldn't apply here as it's not portraying Sherlock in a certain way, but the recent 'Enola Holmes' series got into some legal tussles over their Sherlock depiction (played by Henry Cavill).

@CCC I really don't see how the existence of a CMF should mean a Lego Ideas Sherlock Holmes set shouldn't be made. We have heaps of cool space CMFs as well as some knights, princesses and so forth, does that mean we shouldn't have space or castle sets too?

Sherlock Holmes is an immensely popular IP, and is a lot more well known then all these stupid Yank sitcoms Lego is obsessed with. (which by the way really are just a room with some minifigs).

While I agree the model would probably need to be scaled down a tad, I don't see why Lego couldn't or shouldn't make a Sherlock Holmes set. It's popular, it's well known, it's an IP (Lego loves IPs), and even if you're not a SH fan it's a cool modular style building that would be popular with a wide variety of people. Plus it's a time period and architectural style that hasn't been done before.

Lego Ideas submissions seem to fall into one of the following categories at the moment...

    Large Modular building.
    Sitcom/TV programme.
    Real-life man-made object.
Real-life natural object (plants, insects, birds etc)
    Train.
    Medieval building.

Any that fall outside of those categories are immediately more interesting to me.

If nothing else, at least lego are getting some easy market research (which I'm assuming is half of the original reason for the IDEAS process).

    Koala looks fun.

I think since they removed the small survey you used to have to complete when voting where you answered if you would buy it and how many etc, there are more people voting for "Lego things that look nice" but would never buy. That and people who may not buy a set but are fans of the band, movie series or telly programme and just like to vote on the novelty of a Lego version.

My guess is that’s how the voting always worked and that little survey thing was worthless to them.

I read up on that before posting. According to Wikipedia, almost all the stories except two or three are now in public domain. The recent legal disagreement was over very specific elements that supposedly only appeared in those very late stories. TLG would probably tend to shy away from any such entanglements. But by the time they would actually make the set, the arguments would probably be moot.

I do believe I would buy Farm Life! I have never bought an ideas set before because the no instructions deal really bothers me. An actual barn and some great vehicles makes for an awesome set!

Yeah, every Ideas set I've bought has printed instructions.  And the first Bricklink Designer Program sets also had printed instructions.  It's just this second iteration that does not come with printed instructions in the box.
