Why do RSOTD and RPOTD articles disappear?

BrickchapBrickchap Member Posts: 1,262
There's been a couple of times now where a RSOTD or RPOTD is posted, there are some good comments posted and then out of the blue the entire post/article is removed entirely from the site. Some RS/POTD posts remain but others are removed. Normally they just move down in the feed.

Why is this happening? Are the posts being removed by admins? Are they automatically deleted after 24 hours? Because previously the set of the day or part of the day would simply be replaced by the new set/part of the day, and the old post would just move down the feed and if you scrolled down or clicked 'see older posts' you would find it.

On the main site, click on MENU, click on BROWSE then scroll down to NEWS and click on BROWSE THE NEWS ARCHIVE then in the category drop down menu select RANDOM PART or RANDOM SET.

Alternatively just find the forum post in BRICKSET ARTICLES category and click on the link to go to the main sites article.

    Hope that helps.

@PJ76uk Sorry I can't find any of the things you mention but thanks anyway!

Do you know why they are removed in the first place?

They're not being removed. It just depends on how many new articles, reviews, news items, etc. appear that day to push them further down the listing. They are all still available at the two links for the categories:
It also depends on what options you have turned on in your own Preferences menu. You can set the number of articles to appear on the home page and the categories you want to display or hide:

That's not exactly true, previous random part/set posts disappear from the main site when new ones are posted, so no matter how much you scroll down, you won't find them. They are of course available in their respective categories, as you said.

Which is a good thing on quieter weeks, since otherwise there would be loads of "random" articles pushing out the news / reviews.

I agree, and it's probably why it's done this way.

Only one is shown on the home page otherwise it could get cluttered up with them. They are all in the archive, though. Click on the 'random set' tag under the article title to view them.
