My Classic Pirates display at Bricks Cascade 2022

pxchrispxchris Member Posts: 2,342
So as not to (further) spam any of the other threads, I figured it best to create a new one to post about my Classic Pirates display that I made for Bricks Cascade this year.
It features the entirety of the Bluecoat Era (1989-91) of Pirates along with the entire Islander sub-theme and a selection of other Classic Pirates sets up to 1997. The display also featured a lot of information on the history of the Pirates theme, miscellaneous ephemera and a full lighting setup.
(My apologies that some of these photos are a double post from earlier in the Status thread.)

Looks great! Did you also have a hand in the map of Roshar I saw posted to Reddit from that event?

    It's all amazing!
I especially like the Islanders' Catamaran straddling the island or sandbar in the roadplate (riverplate? 🤔) from #6552 Rocky River Retreat!

Thanks! No, I had no involvement with that at all. As a matter of fact, I don't even know who the builder was. But it was an awesome build. There were so, so many amazing mosaics & art pieces this year.

Thank you! I was really pleased with how well the river layout ended up coming out. While not a perfect match with the Islander baseplates, it did flow pretty well with a bit of added greenery.

    Thank you so much!

I uploaded a couple of videos with a good look at the entire display. The second video is from during the dim light time of the convention to show off the lights even better.

I thought that perhaps a solid colored backdrop with the history, boxes, books etc up higher so not to be obscured or detract from the display.

Beautiful complete collection. I love the lights in the torches. Its one thing that strikes me about these set, with the imagining of it being dark with only a torch to guide you or torches to show 'safety' of an outpost.. Really great line and collection!

If my display was up against a wall I think something like that would work really, really well.
Unfortunately in the open convention floor style, a backdrop would be more problematic.

I'm definitely going to have to think of more creative ways to do the display in the future (because I'm certain I will do it again, just probably not next year).

Well, I’ve found all the parrots, but still having a hard time finding the “find these” minifigs.

Some of them probably won't be visible from the photos/videos I took. SpongeBob especially was probably hidden a little to well on one of the Pirate islands.

For those who have an interest in the convention as a whole, and all of the amazing builds there - Beyond the Brick has posted their full convention walk-through.

My display is shown near the very end, at about the 1:51:16 mark.

    That's not a display. That's a museum!
