Whoa really, Doctor Who? That's curious. In the UK perhaps. Certainly not round these parts (continental Europe, some 600 km from London). I have yet to bump into a single piece of Doctor Who merchandise. Actually now that I think about it that includes B&M and online alike. Thanks to your link I have seen more BTTF merchandise in the last two days than Doctor Who merchandise in my entire life. Star Trek, on the other hand, is ubiquitous.

And we don't have any royal-baby merchandise, either. That's the sound of me not complaining.

    From what I managed to find, Disney Princess is no 1 in merchandising with Star Wars second. Winnie the Pooh, of all things is third! :}

My daughter IS a Disney Princess, in her mind at least. :)

Winnie the Pooh doesn't surprise me, that is huge among the younger set.

Check out Entertainment Earth's Doctor Who selection. It's fairly large. Every museum I've been to these last couple years has has Doctor Who stuff and it's been in mall stores as well. The BBC made a huge push in overseas (and domestic I'm sure) marketing starting in 2010 when Matt Smith took over and BBC America had solidified broadcast rights and reach in more markets here in the U.S.

I'm happy as I was able to get myself a sonic screwdriver, another sonic screwdriver, another, and another and another....muhahahaha! Allons y!

Yeah, Disney's always big (like Lego they have their own brand stores). My nieces have had Disney princess themed birthday parties, etc.

Does anyone know if #21103 is on the shelf in John Lewis or is it only an online purchase?
  • kyrotekkyrotek Member Posts: 212
Having been in to my local John Lewis, I can say that it is on the shelf!

^ I think the show is quite popular in North America (at least among the geek set), but there virtually no merchandising to be had.
  • prof1515prof1515 Member Posts: 1,550
Really? You haven't seen any? I saw it at nearly every museum gift shop I went to this summer. I saw it at several stores as well. Every comic book store I went to had it as well. You're not looking hard enough if you're not seeing it or perhaps you're not familiar enough with Doctor Who to realize that's what you're looking at when you do see it. Either way it's there. I was surprised, too, since I didn't think that outside of online dealers and maybe comic stores it would be.

My local lego store mustve had about 10 BTTF sets, so I bought 1 off them, I can't wait to build. :-D

I've heard of Dr Who, but I've never seen the show or seen any merchandise in America. I don't go to comic book stores though.

I live in the UK now (kinda... at the moment I'm not there...) so I'm pretty familiar with it, but haven't been to comic shops here in NA for awhile now. Granted, there is some, but comic shops are more specialty - I was thinking that I never see Dr. Who stuff in Wal-Mart or anything like that. Like, mainstream.

How did we get on this tangent? Oh yes... Back to the Future... popular... um... I like Back to the Future loads but I'm not buying this set? :)

^ That tells me that TLG learned its lesson from Minecraft and didn't want this one going to $150 by Christmas. :)

Waiting and waiting for s@h shipment, Target would have been faster .

I had a bad feeling that was gonna happen, there's about 50 on eBay all the time going for roughly the RRP. I bought an extra one when I bought my own at Toys R Us thinking that I might be able to make a little bit selling it before xmas, so yey no cash in for me like I thought lol

Could be worse, you could have a dozen. Btw, if you're feeling bad about it, you might have time to simply return it to TRU.

Ended up giving two of three I had to friends. So I decided to order two more to build all three versions for display. Got my order today . Only the magnet added to meet shipping and mini mech in the box. Someone forgot to pack the Deloreans. Called Lego and CS setup a replacement order for when the restock comes in since the full order had been charged.

Anyway thinking about useing two of the bandit minifigures with the heads from the Lone Ranger sets with the Doc. Brown and Marty heads for BTTF III version. Not sure what to use for II.

That's true, I'd make a pretty crap reseller tbh lol. Think I threw away the receipt though, so at least i should get my money back on it if i do sell it off on eBay, ill just wait and see what the demand is like before xmas.
  • TheLoneTensorTheLoneTensor Member Posts: 3,937
I'm not sure how that makes you a bad reseller. A good one knows when to fold. So, if you can return it for a no money out of pocket, that's better than selling or donating it for a loss later. That is, unless you think it has legs. Me, I'm guessing this thing will be a very, very long wait to realize profits.

In any event, receipts are good things to keep.

Is there anyway to tell if you have one of the misspelt sets without opening it? On the back of my box shield is spelt wrong but does that necessarily mean the set has the misspelt parts?

I'm happy to confirm that my set with the miss spelling on the box also contained the miss spelt tile..

^ and ^^ Good thing I'm not the spell checker. I thought DJ_Pon3 had misspelled misspelt. :-) I was wondering what the 'splat' tile looked like. Maybe a bug on the windshield? :-) Gotta love the opening scene in Men In Black. :-) (I'll now go back to my nap.)

Only in the US is 'spelt' not correct English :)

they finally have the Delorean in stock at Times Square TRU and at $34.99. i'm sure that price won't last too long. this store is notorious for "city" pricing.

The DeLorean is back in stock at Amazon

^^ I want to know what they'd do if you rolled that whole cart up to the register.

Was at Times Square yesterday. Price went up to $39.99, but TRU has a BOGO 50% off right now, so they ended up $33 each with tax. Best price I've seen, so I got two.

It's also $34.99 in stock at Target.com with free shipping on all LEGO, plus an extra 5% off for Redcard members.
