Was finally able to do the survey.  Glad I was able to get through and do it.

While I told them I would consider paying for such a service, I reminded them that they should be doing more of these kinds of promotions for their VIPs as it is.

I quite like the concept of sending back old bricks to get money off/VIP points/rewards etc...  We have so many loose bricks that don't get played with.

It is all in the details though. Sending in up to about 1.75kg of old bricks would cost £3.20 and what would we get back for it? Even £5 worth of points might not be cost effective for them (especially if they pay the postage) plus no doubt they would be getting loads of clones sent to them.

I wonder what they'd do with them too. It's a lot of sorting to remove non ABS parts, clone parts, dirt, sand, batteries,... before anything could be recycled.
Agreed.  As with everything in the questionnaire, it's all about the details.  Even though some of them sound interesting I personally said no to paying £5 a month.  Until you know the exact detail you've no idea what you're actually paying for.

£5 for some 'free' digital downloads doesn't sound like great value, but given the experience with the Black VIP card I wouldn't put it past them.  Surely there must be someone in their marketing team that has a view of reality, rather than a blinkered idea of what the fans want?

Apparently the LEGO camera is available again to redeem (even though I have a code already its available to me again) if someone was looking to get another. Apparently they made a lot of those

After seeing @jmeninno 's comment I decided to try the survey again and got through it. It was a bit of a pain actually as it felt like I have the same answers twice. But free points are free points.

The VIP program is the most exclusive club in the office, so naturally I need to be a part of it.

Notified today that they have finally done away with "in store OR online" discount rewards, and you can just redeem points for a discount and use it whichever way you buy direct.

Received an email from Lego just now. It appears that they are returning to the original method of redeeming VIP points for discounts. No more silly voucher redemptions. I am sure many will echo my sigh of relief. Hooray!

you still need to redeem the vouchers, it's just that they are the same vouchers for any purchase method (in store, by phone or online).

Looks like we still need to redeem a voucher but it is good online or in store, I wished they totally went back to the old method...

According to a Lego Store employee, a voucher is not needed for an in-store purchase.

Correct, I bought the 90th anniversary spaceship and SW Diorama (for the Forestman promo) and was querying redeeming my points as a the voucher, and they can now do it through the new tills at £5 increments - so you may actually be *better* off.

For example - the store assistant was able to set it for me to redeem £35 of points, rather than 5, 20 or 50.

^ Except, at least here in the USA, you can redeem in increments of one dollar (instead of five dollars).

You have always been able to do that. If you want £35 off then you redeem £20 and 3x £5. Or 7x £5.

I always just redeemed mine for $5 vouchers- so I could use however many I wanted. It was faster to select seven $5 vouchers than a $20 and three $5 vouchers.
But the new, old way is much easier- just decide at the time of purchase.

At the Utrecht LS, the assistant also offered per-euro-redeeming-increment. Much better than it was!

Hey, for #40515 Pirates and Treasure VIP Add On Pack, any thoughts on what TLG's ideas were for what to build with the bricks & plates? I know it's probably a case of "use your imagination", but some of the parts seem kind of specific, as if they had something in mind, like the four 2x1 plates with a clip on the end.

I'd guess those four clips are to hang the lanterns from.

The LEGO Lunchbox is available in the VIP rewards section (under Collectibles). 2500 points
  • PapaBearPapaBear Member Posts: 628
That looks pretty cool, not bad for $20 in points.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526

For 50 VIP points you can download and print your very own LEGO World Cup wallchart.

Shame it looks like it was knocked up in five minutes by a trainee with a pretty awful design containing no dates, locations or other information, but it does have the LEGO logo and a picture of a minifigure with a football. And some trophy that looks nothing like the World Cup.

50 VIP points equals like 38 cents, so I guess you get what you pay for?

That bracket would be very annoying to fill out, but... trademarks! (which is why there's no explicit reference to the World Cup and they have a generic trophy.
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 3,710
That "generic" trophy is probably part 89801, which was in 23 sets between 2010 and 2019.

Indeed. It just looks like a cheap bid to be involved with the World Cup without wanting to pay for any licensing. Maybe FIFA should use some generic small block figures to attract kids.

    No, still overpaying! :-)

Received a Lego VIP email this morning with the subject line “We want you back!” and inside were coupon codes for $10 off purchases of $65 and $15 off purchases of $100. I can’t remember another time that Lego has sent me discount coupons like this.

    Edit: the fine print

@Bumblepants My last order from Lego.com was November 13, 2020, so almost 2 years. I've made plenty of Lego Store purchases since then, most recent being September of this year.

I got it because I accidentally had two VIP accounts. I think I let the old one’s points expire too.

So… We want you back, but not enough to give you a whole $15 off an $800 set. 🤔

Another 50 VIP points for telling LEGO how you feel about some new names they've "imagineered".

^ What a waste of my time! 50 points equals about 40 cents- for 10 minutes?
A bunch of stupid marketing. In fact, that's the word I put for what I thought about each name. "Marketing". Because that's what any of that kind of program means to me.
Hey, TLG: Just make neat toys, we'll buy them.

Interesting but half the names were totally unimaginative but indicate they are considering different levels of membership. I hope they keep it affordable for all and avoid pandering to the elite the way Disney has gone.

When I googled “nogle” the second result was distinctly NSFW. Does anyone have any idea what Lego Nogle is supposed to mean?

@iwybs danish to english translation is "some" for me.  I looked a little further and read nogle is plural form of nogen and that translation is "anybody".  I assumed nogle LEGO means something like "everybody LEGO", but then I found this wiki page and now I have no idea.  Key, maybe....

It took me 11 minutes- and I read fast, so I think most people would not be able to do it in 10.
