Get what "we" think is EOL'ing now with double points. Wait till Black Friday for the other items. My opinion anyway . . .

As far as the PAB boxes. They do expire March 31st. And interestingly enough, in the small print from the 2010 calendar, Lego described the PAB box as equivalent to a small cup. But I agree with others here that it "at least" holds much more. You can naturally fit more into a square design, rather that a round cup, and the top is angled up to fit more.

^ It's pretty easy to test.

First pic is a PaB box filled with 1x1 round plates. Second pic is the same quantity filling the large PaB cup. Note: the flaps on the PaB box were closed flat, and if I had topped it off with something like slope bricks which conform to the shape, it pretty much would have filled the large PaB cup completely.

Are the boxes only included with the order promotion in store? Or do they send the boxes out with online orders as well?

Thanks for the pics... That confirms what I already suspected based on filling dozens of the things last year...

Thank you. I will go ahead and make use of double points this month since I live 4 hours away from any store.

Anyone know how long the VIP points with Lego last on your account? I received an email from Lego last month, saying that I had to spend them by December.
Just tried to find the email to double check it but cant find it so perhaps I deleted it. Anyway before I pull the trigger and spend it, Just wanted to ask the community here if they have an experience with having a deadline to spend Lego VIP points?
  • dfurndfurn Member Posts: 199
I mean, am I being a bit smart arsey asking if you'd looked at the Lego VIP faq at http://shop.lego.com/en-GB/VIP/vipFaq.jsp ?

    I'll save you a click!

    "Do my points ever expire?

Yes, all VIP Points expire on December 31st two years after the year in which they were earned. "

VIP points are the Lego equivalent of a Tootsie Roll Pop.

Been wanting to get a few sets but I never seem to get in on the deals when they have them. Usually i'll buy what I want and then like a week later BOOM cool deals. :(

I was going to make an order to get the July poly from Shop at Home. I have $30 in VIP points I was going to use. Do I have to technically spend over $105 to get the $75 poly or do the points count as "cash"? Just wondering before I figure out what I want. Thanks!
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
I know of one case where the free gift wasn't issued when VIP rewards were used which meant the actual cash spend was below the threshold. Normally however they are whether you use cash or VIP points.

Try it and see, if it comes without the poly phone them and I'm sure they will send one out rather than pay for the return (as the item would be included on the checkout page). Take a print of the page, just to be sure.

I had one promo (TC-14) removed during 2012 May 4th promo. It was on the order, and on the dispatch note, but missing from the package. I had a long phone argument with a manager at lego and they finally sent me what should have been there in the first place.
  • joel4motionjoel4motion Member Posts: 959
I used VIP points to pay for 4 separate orders at the beginning of may and received 4 Hoth Hans. I put no cash towards any of the orders.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
I don't know about a free poly, but I have gotten free shipping even though my total purchase was under $75. Lego may have a different policy toward the free gifts.
  • lordzaraklordzarak Member Posts: 329
I made a [email protected] purchase last week that came to $75.04. I used $5 VIP and still got the free shipping and polybag. (At least I'm supposed to... it hasn't arrived yet.)
  • tomahawkertomahawker Member Posts: 198
The polybag appears in your cart once you place $75 worth of merchandise in your cart. Once you enter the checkout process, nothing should be removed from your cart, regardless of the method of payment.

Heh, I'm curious, what items did you get that brought it so close to that magic shipping threshold?

I used Pick a Brick to bring it up to a few cents over $75. Even though PAB is processed seperately, it does not impact the free shipping offer.
  • NellyNelly Member Posts: 77
In another scenario, should you purchase from the Lego Store, VIP points come off the subtotal, lowering the purchase amount and associated taxes. I have used a 10% coupon in conjunction with VIP points and the subtotal after applying both had to be over $75 to qualify for the promo. Sometimes a friendly cashier will waive the requirement.

I too have had a number of 6 pence PAB orders just to get over the threshold!

I just got a Sopwith Camel with the hot dog cart using VIP points and all went smoothly.

Ok, not completely, the hot dog poly left some dents in the Camel's box :(
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
OT but ^ Same for me and 20215.... would be so easy to put on top of the box instead of the bottom, poly came over wrinkled and box dented...

I'm not sure that would help. A box in transit doesn't really have a top or bottom.
  • ColoradoBricksColoradoBricks Member Posts: 1,659
Top is usually protected by (too many) air bags, etc, it would be more cushioned (at least in the orders I have received that way)

last month during the Jor-El give away I bought the new Creator House and LotR Wizard Duel which brought it up just past the $75 threshold and I used $20 in VIP and still got Jor-El and this was at the Cincinnati store and I always shop at the Columbus store, but was down there visiting. Of course I did ask if i would still get the freebie and the guy was like yeah you hit the mark, doesn't matter now if you use VIP or not. So I guess it all depends on where you are at and the employees.

    Finally... This is GREAT News...

We just got in a $400 order and checked our account and the individual parts purchased are being counted towards the V.I.P. points...

The invoices are also new with pictures of the individual parts that were purchased...

Are you referring to PaB or replacement parts?

so that would be bricks and pieces (replacement parts).

    this IS good news!

Oh, it is VERY good news... I cannot tell you how many 1,000's of dollars that we have spent over the years without ever getting any points for parts...

I hope people think this goes some way to make up for not getting a discount on exclusives now. Yes, they've taken a greater discount away but at least they've given something back. They didn't have to.

It's worth mentioning that VIP Points are only gained by purchasing from the PAB service online. They are not given if calling up CS as the order is then treated as 'Replacement Parts' of which is NOT eligible for points.
  • caperberrycaperberry Member Posts: 2,226
Confused, OP specifically states they called in.
  • jdylakjdylak Member Posts: 281
I know I just called in a $30 order from the replacement parts area and didn't get any points. I wasn't expecting any so it's no biggie to me.
  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
What if you call in and then order parts which are all available via PaB selection?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,825
    edited September 2013
^ A no go. A call into [email protected] or CS automatically forces the order to 'replacement parts'. PaB can only be bought online.

My 'replacement parts' order yesterday didn't accrue any points. Mt call in this morning confirmed that I wasn't due any due to it being for replacement parts and not PaB.

The same parts available through PaB can be bought as replacements parts but the scale of pricing is different, points aren't given and there is limited as to the amount of lots/total number of parts that can be bought in one order.

I have to call in my part orders because 99.9% of what I need cannot be purchased online through Lego's website...

Not one of these parts were ordered through Pick a Brick(They are not even available through P-A-B).. They were all ordered through replacement parts over the phone...

Surely there is an obvious point here. If you pay for (either online or over the phone) you'll get VIP points, if you don't (I.e replacement parts that are missing from a set you bought), you won't, or am I missing something?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,825
    ^ I can't explain it.

There are two people in this thread whom within the last 24 hours have confirmed their 'Replacement Parts' orders did not accrue any points. I have today placed another order of which didn't get any points either.

I wonder if your operator applied your VIP number to your order in error (against policy). I can't explain it otherwise since Replacements Orders have been confirmed by CS twice today to not grant points.

I think you've been lucky. Try it again. :o)

  • CrowkillersCrowkillers Member Posts: 757
I don't know, This is the first order out of at least 100 that we got points for and like I said the invoices were different than they have been in the past...

Did your new invoice have pictures of the parts on it..?
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,825

I have yet to receive these two new replacement parts orders, but the two received last month nor the 100 before them didn't have pictures on their printed notes inside the delivered package.

I have never received anything by email regarding my replacement part orders if that is the invoice you are referring to.

When I place orders for sets, I get an invoice by email of which again the two 'set' orders placed last week didn't have pictures on their invoices.

With this newest order we even got a tracking number for it through email once the order got to the States...
