Dimensions

Seeking advice on bits I have.  I bought the game for Xbox one for my son and he never opened it or played.  I also bought the Fantastic Beasts starter and a couple of small packs.  So my questions are 1) is the game even playable anymore? and 2) do you think anyone would be interested in trading for them or is it better to open them for parts to use in other things and close the chapter?

Trying to organize and cleanup a bit

Depending on the packs some of the licensed ones have gotten pretty valuable for the minifigures. Might be worth looking on bricklink to see what they are going for. If they aren't that special I would say just part out the bricks and use them.

I last played Dimensions about a year ago and at that point the pack I played (Back to the Future) was definitely playable (and good fun!). If you decide to play then I think you might run into an issue with downloading the DLC needed to play the add-on packs, however, although I assume the code for the base game is on the disc.

If you enjoyed the TT games stuff then you might as well give the base game a go at least, and if you enjoy it then see if you can play the add-ons too. Worst comes to worst they don't work and you can sell or trade the figures and keep the loose bricks.

And as I recall, the discs themselves are pretty cheap if you can find them without the minifigures.  I think I got a bunch of them through the Marketplace on this very website from other folks only interested in the minifigures.

I bought the base and tons of the figures/sets because they were on clearances. Then my 360 went kaput before I could play it. I've heard it is fun. But by now, I don't know what is playable and what isn't since things always seem to need updates these days.

Bricklink has sellers selling the discs as well

The Fantastic Beasts sets are worth very little as they were clearanced in their 1000s. Especially the Tina Goldstein one.

The DLC should work. Microsoft and Sony do keep delisted DLC and games on their servers for those that have purchased them so they can be downloaded again. Not sure about Nintendo though. They should but Nintendo are a bit funny sometimes.

Agreed, although if someone hasn't already downloaded DLC which is then delisted then it's generally not possible to download it. It might work differently for DLC triggered by a physical purchase, however.

Ironic, considering Nintendo is enthusiastic about re-selling their entire back catalog of games on every new iteration of their platform...
