edited March 2012 in Introduce yourself
Hello,
Just stumbled upon this great website and had to be a part of it. I used to collect Star Wars Lego back in 1999-2000. Funny thing is that about 6 months ago I decided to breakdown, clean and re-assemble my UCS sets since they were pretty dusty from display. Well I caught the bug again and thought to myself "Why the heck did I stop collecting these awesome bricks of awesomeness?" 6 months later I am completely Lego nuts :) I've actually been on a mission (a very crazy and pricey one) to purchase a copy of every retail Star Wars set released (minus some things like minis/polybags/magnets, etc). So far I am about 40% of the way there :)
Well, just thought I would introduce myself.

Thanks,
Renny

Hi Renny. I'm in IL too, outside of Aurora. I too have recently caught the Lego bug. End of December sales triggered it and I've been collecting mainly Star Wars sets since. Wish I had started a lot sooner but I've got some pretty outstanding deals in the past few months and have grown my meager collection from 0 to 30% complete on Star Wars sets. Guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on craigslist so I can snatch up the good stuff before you do! Haha.

Welcome from Mundelein in the northwest Chicago 'burbs. There are several of us around on Brickset, welcome! As a SW LEGO collector from 1999, it's been easier keeping up with the theme as the new sets appear, but it's still pretty pricey...

Welcome from Elmhurst, IL. I don't do too much collecting for completion, just the cool sets I like including some Star Wars. I may at some point in the distant future, sell my UCS MF and it would probably be best/easiest to sell to someone local and a Brickset member.

There's no "o" in assuming or "e" in local either! ;-P

Most people don't know that technically Superman's home city was based on Toronto though it incorporated many landmarks of New York City and some early references cited its location in New York state. Of course, at one time Clark Kent is also said to have worked in Cleveland, Ohio. Metropolis was eventually chosen, quite early, as a name though clearly as a stand-in title for New York City whose landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty, continued to show up in Metropolis.

Batman's home city of Gotham is also another name for New York City. :-)

The city in southern Illinois called Metropolis began to capitalize on their name as the "Hometown of Superman" in 1972 and holds a Superman-themed festival every summer.
