Advent Mixup

My kid got the wrong minifig yesterday from the Starwars advent calendar.  I assume the bags just put in the wrong bin and we are waiting to see if the other minifig eventually shows up or if he will get a duplicate of the wrong minifig.

It got me thinking, if you ended up with a duplicate how would you handle it? Would you contact lego to get the missing minifig or simply accept that you still got something?

I have no issue requesting a correction when a part is missing from a building set, but having the correct part is less of an issue in the advent calendars.

If I got an incorrect duplicate item I would definitely contact them for a replacement of the missing item.  Last year I had a CMF bag that was missing part of the mini figure.  I called up to ask for a torso to replace the missing part.  It took two tries because they sent the wrong torso the first time but I did eventually end up getting the correct part.  The Advent Calendars are suppose to have 24 different builds so it is definitely worth notifying them that you ended up with an incorrect and possibly duplicate item.  Your set is incomplete if you end up not getting the Minifig you were suppose to get.  You pay a premium for the advent calendars so I wouldn't consider it less of an issue.  Of course some minifigs are more desirable than others but I would still want to receive what should have been in the set.

Why not check now when the kid is not looking. I had two of the same figure two years ago in the HP calendar. I complained, they initially said that I probably opened the wrong door, I sent them a photo of the whole interior tray showing the duplicate figure, they eventually sent a replacement for the missing one.

I opened it up today and sure enough he got a duplicate of the assassin droid and did not get the sand person. I reported the missing parts online but it lists the three parts (torso, head, legs) as out of stock. A message popped up that said if the parts don't come into stock within 7 days then they will contact me with an update or a substitution.

This is a case of you are better off calling them rather than requesting the missing parts online.  Since they don't sell licensed parts the Tusken Raider parts are probably not available unless you call them to explain the situation.  Good Luck.

We bought the Lego Marvel advent calendar for my nephew and instead of receiving the Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity stones he received a 2nd copy of Captain Marvel so I've had to get in touch with Lego and hopefully they will send the correct window contents after Christmas.

Had two X-Wings in my SW calendar this year and was missing Slave1. Used the missing pieces section of LEGO CS and they are sending a replacement for me.

That's disappointing, this sounds like just another example of LEGO dropping the ball. I think they really need to do an internal audit to find out why so many missteps and screw-ups.

Had a duplicate day last year. Customer service sent me the missing one straight away. Def worth contacting them.

I own around 1400 sets from almost 40yrs of collecting. This is the second issue I've ever had, I think that's a very small almost miniscule problem.

I hadn’t had any missing parts or other issues for years and years until recently when I have had missing parts in 3 sets.  It does seem that QC has slipped a bit.

Never had a missing part but have had 1 damaged brick (poor moulding) in #75979 Hedwig, out of +1,000 sets I'd say that's not bad! I have however had to contact CS several times when sticker sheets had either been so badly screwed up/folded they were unusable or a sticker had come off and was irrevocably stuck to the manual or the packaging.

My youngest got a second ambulance @day 11 (instead of the helicopter) in his City-calender - contacted CS, the replacements arrived within a week!

Perhaps the only recorded instance of a helicopter missing from a Lego City set!

Parcel from LEGO CS arrived yesterday with the missing pieces....but had seven missing pieces themselves. Currently on chat with CS, they are filling in the gaps
