[Sold] For Sale: 10179 UCS Falcon MISB (US)

So, I've been feeling somewhat generous lately. Selling off some MISB sets from my stash to those in need here on Brickset. 7676 Republic Gunship, 10194 Emerald Night, 10185 Green Grocer, 10155 Maersk Container (in-progress). I think I've been very fair on pricing - selling under the going rate.

I'm considering selling off one of the 10179 MISB sets I have. It's not the Collector's Edition. It's been in the original brown shipping box since I bought it from the LEGO store several years ago. If there is someone who is wanting a sealed set, who missed out, and wants to actually build the set, PM me with offers or questions. One stipulation. I'm not shipping this baby. You gotta come and get it. I'm in Indianapolis. I'm not risking any sort of shenanigans in the shipping - accidental or otherwise. And I'd prefer not having a PayPal transaction sucking up ~3% of the income. As I said before, PM me if you fit the profile for this deal and are willing to make a fair offer on the set.

Build it. Forget the $ value. Lifes to short. Enjoy the build and then work out how to display it.

Let me clarify - the Gunship, Emerald Night, and Green Grocer were sold earlier this year to Bricksetters. I have a buyer for the Maersk lined up.

It was brought to my attention that one alternative for selling this would be without the box. This would make it more viable for shipping - less concern about damaging the pristine box. I'm considering this. And may consider even shipping international. Although it seems USPS has removed insurance from Priority Mail shipments to the UK, so shipping there may be really expensive with third party or Express.

@kevbags - yes, I have thought about that many times, you're right, sometimes in life you just do what brings you joy... I have loved most of the bigger Star Wars sets, with the UCS TIE Interceptor the biggest disappointment so far and the Death Star (10188) being about the coolest build ever... (ok, not really UCS, but same place in line)

The thing is, will I enjoy building it knowing that I could take my family on a nice vacation for that much money? True, it isn't an either-or, but still, it seems... well... wasteful at this point to crack open a brand new mint condition set.

So what I really want is a non-Collectors Edition set that has been opened or built, a used set would be wonderful. Just have to find a deal on one.

@sidersdd - You can ship USPS to the UK using "Global Express Guarenteed", which is really Fedex, but 30% off Fedex rates, and you get the insurance. Express Mail can have up to I think $600 insurance to the UK, but this is too big for that anyway.

You haven't said what you want for this one yet... ;)

Dude just go for it. I'm stuck here in a hospital bed after being on a vent earlier this week. Only been back into Lego since August so never knew about 10179 to buy one at retail. I decided I wasn't going to pay the high costs. After the last two weeks if and when I'm out I'm having one. I may not even open it carefully ;-) Money comes and goes. More can always be made. Enjoy this awesome set with your family.

@sidersdd - I want you to know that I fully intend to build the Grocer that you sold to me. I've already cracked the seals just to look at the glorious bags of green-y pieces inside. I'm anticipating a move into a 2-bedroom condo within a year where I will finally have a LEGO room where cats aren't allowed. Currently, LEGO bricks = cat treats. Or so they think.

That's how I feel as well.... I could care less for the box! If I could buy all of them without the box, I would be happy. I build these to help with my PTSD/Anxiety issues from deployment to Iraq. They help calm me down and concentrate for a bit. When I wake up in the middle of the night from a nightmare, I get up and work on whichever set I have out (presently it's the Winter Toy Shop). Eventually, I hope to get the Grocer and Pet Store sets, but if not, oh well. :)

Any Bricksetters interested in this, w/o box, for US$1550 (+ shipping and insurance)? Only $1500 if paying by Money Order. I'll ship world wide.

^I would buy it if I hadn't already bought one a few months ago.

    I would if I had the $$ :)

Out of curiosity, what are you doing with the box?

^ May sell it later, or may cut out the front and frame it for my LEGO room. Dunno yet.

Cool. Well if you sell it off at some point I may be interested!
