The recent announcement of 75312 Boba Fett's Starship has been slightly overshadowed by the set name, which notably omits 'Slave I'.
Several previous LEGO renditions of the Slave I have used that name, so this change provoked some controversy.
Fortunately, James from Jedi News and myself recently spoke with Jens Kronvold Frederiksen and Michael Lee Stockwell from the LEGO Star Wars design team, who briefly addressed the name change during our discussion of the new products.

I suggest the "Imperial Star Destroyer" is now called "The Baddies Big Ship". But then again, is labelling someone as a baddie also devisive? Just because we don't agree with their views, does it make them bad? I guess it is OK if the Sith self identify as baddies?
Oh, and Rebels also sounds a bit dodgy? Perhaps a name changed to "Band of broadly ideologically aligned worlds"?
It is basically all just a minefield. I think Lego should disinvest from Star Wars and play it safe!
Oh shit it's called "Wars". That's not good! What about "Star disagreement, pending resolution, via mostly non-violent means"?
”I’m a starship and my name is Anakin”
(And never mind all of the murder.)
Side note, Chewbacca is nude for the entire Saga.
Disney Exec 2: Should we drop anything else? Like what about burning people alive, severed limbs, the slaughter of innocent children, stuffing people into fresh carcasses, robotic torture and mass genocide?
Disney Exec 1: Are you crazy? Those are perfectly acceptable.
Disclaimer: I'm absolutely NOT taking any sides in this argument with this post, although even that will draw ire from both sides these days...
P.S. The opening crawl offended me as I don’t read trapezoidical.
It's totally just for appearances, and rather hypocritical, but anyone thinking it would be anything but that doesn't know just how soulless and greedy the Disney money-making machine is.
For reference - I do not care in the slightest what word is printed on the box.
But damn, you should see the Alien Sea Cow Twitter group blowing up over Luke Skywalker touching a female breast in an unwanted, unsolicited manner.
That scene will be removed from TLJ any minute now....
In Disney's defense, they're guessing as to what the mob would find arbitrarily 'offensive' on any given day. Considering they avoided real controversy with Splash Mountain by announcing a 're-imagining' that'll happen 10 years from now, and also avoided the mob by putting meaningless 'disclaimers' before certain movies on Disney+...
I don't get the impression the name is being changed, instead we're just all going to ignore the name until it's re-named this winter.
El Sarlaccamino...
Boba's Flying Shoe...
Because, clearly, Vader would have named his own ship 'Tears of Younglings' or 'High Ground'.
Calling it, they'll rename it to Fettch 1.
Love that song!
New name: Secondary 1
Of all the things for people to get mad about...
Fundamentally, it's silly, but still annoys those of us that have some sense of reasonableness, nuance and rationality.
