Castle is SOLD OUT in the UK

Looks like Castle is out of stock for Europe, but still avaliable in the US

vizzitor said:The castle is showing as "This project is sold out in your region." for Ireland. Think it might be popular in Europe. Asia and North America, it's still showing as available for now.
It still shows as available here but there’s only a few left it looks like. They don’t give an exact number but the meter is getting close to the 5000.

In a nice surprise, you appear to get VIP points with these orders.
Selfishly I was hoping that the Adidas GWP would also show up but no luck! 🙂

I am ashamed of myself. I went on and ordered the boat too (so now I've got Castle, Flight and Fishing Boat). It doesn't look like any sort of revolutionary design or anything that's super intricate, but it's got a very simple, realistic feeling to it that has always drawn me in.

I know this moment doesn't really allow waffling on whether or not I want to pull the trigger on something. But that Safe is just so tempting! Looks like I'll need to make up my mind sooner than later.

Yeah, castle gone in ~35 minutes is really solid. Great Fishing Boat could very well be "fully funded" within the first hour at the current pace. Safe and Flight will be funded by the end of the day unless the pace slows down exponentially after the initial rush. Then it's a long slugfest for the other 3 to get across the line first.

All the excitement made me nostalgic for the last round… I still haven’t built my Western Saloon but it might be next when I finish Ninjago City Gardens…

I regret not having bought a couple of the first wave of this concept. Thankfully it's not a huge regret, but still a little tiny bit of regret.

That saloon, IMO, is much better than the film set that will be up in Round 2 or 3 of this cycle.

Those who missed the castle like me, you can try to get on the backordered list....no guarentee but worth a shot.

I am off work today and I’m sorry to say that I may be spending a good amount of time watching to see which sets cross the finish line second, third, etc… Sort of like watching a slow motion Lego marathon!

Well, the Aston Villa team boat is now both sold out in the UK and has hit the funding target.

I'm a bit surprised that the others are lagging, based on the comments it seems they have been doing okay, but still look a way off the targets. I'm sure they'll make it, but I guess it shows the limits weren't that ridiculous after all.

I've seen a bit of everything around the shipping piece. Has anyone seen anything more specific about estimated shipping costs? Or, since it's through S@H, is it free shipping since it's over the minimum threshold?

I ordered the safe and the shipping came up as free.  I'm guessing because it meets the shop@home shipping threshold as you mentioned.

@Switchfoot55  All of mine had free shipping, but tax was added.  That includes a separate order for the safe which was $49.99.  They also qualify for VIP points (as mentioned by @bricktuary )... so it looks like the $35 free shipping limit applies to the BL Designer sets as well.

I'm also a bit surprised by the lack of support for the Bionicle set- it isn't for me, but there is usually a pretty vocal fanbase surrounding Bionicle projects...
  • bricktuarybricktuary Member Posts: 987
In the UK, if you order 1 safe (the cheapest set, and under the threshold) then it looks like shipping is added.

I'm not going all the way through to order, my credit card is sad enough already.

I remember that crowd popping up quite loudly during the big fan vote on the retro set that Lego will design for next year. Some of them seemed very confident that Bionicle would even win the whole vote. I suspect it's a classic example of a fanbase that is of moderate size but nowhere near the largest but that is extremely vocal. I also suspect this set isn't capturing what most of them love about Bionicle: the buildable figures.

Decided to try this out, really like the fishing boat, logged into S@H, then created a bricklink account, placed my order and went right through to LEGO no sweat, entered payment details, and order is confirmed.
Just speechless, took about 3 minutes with no hassles. Hadn't even confirmed my bricklink account first...
Of course, now that I have an account there, might end up spending even more than usual on LEGO... gosh darn it, oh well but I'm smiling.

This was so much fun.  Grabbed a castle.  Then I stewed a bit.  Then I went back and grabbed a safe and flight.  Now I’m staring at the fishing boat which just passed 3000, trying to find strength to say no.  I like it but it seems like it should be at least 25% cheaper.

Angel on your shoulder: You don't really need it, and you're absolutely right that it should be at least 25% cheaper. It's a rip-off. You've got a ton of Lego sets already, and you love them all, but there will be others than you love more than this one. Save your money for those.

Devil on your other shoulder: It's a beautiful set! The price is more than fair. This is a 20" long display piece! ~1600 pieces. That's only 8.125 cents/piece... for a LIMITED EDITION set! Only 5,000 of these will ever exist! How can you pass up such an incredible opportunity? It's an investment!

I missed the castle unfortunately - it was long gone by the time I escaped my meeting.

The fishing boat is also sold out, in the UK at least, although there are evidently copies elsewhere.

Thankfully the safe is still available here and it seems like a nice way to participate in this interesting pilot, but I can't order it! When I click on the safe, and then the 'Continue to LEGO.com' redirect, I get a "You don't have anything in your bag" error when I land at S@H.

Oh well, guess I shouldn't really be surprised any more.

The link is not on the UK Shop@Home anymore, which, unfortunately, likely means it is sold out for your region...

The preorder button is still showing, unlike the castle and the fishing boat.

That said, it would explain why I can't purchase it....!

Well, I've just tried the bionicle thing, which surely isn't sold out anywhere (sorry, Bionicle fans) and I get the same error, so maybe it's just the usual S@H fun and games?

*Looking ahead a little bit to other projects and my budget, I still keep eyeing that Chalet for my WV. Someone else asked how it will fit with the current WV line. It looks to be about 40 studs wide and 20ish bricks high. It would certainly be more on scale with the last few years sets (Fire Station, Gingerbread House, and Elf's Clubhouse - as well as the Cottage). But it would absolutely dwarf any of the original few WV sets.

Then again, it is a Chalet, and intended to be larger than a house...

I may have to bypass my desire for the Safe and Flight so my budget allows for the Chalet.

  • KungFuKennyKungFuKenny Member Posts: 2,368
So top 4 are now funded (with 2 sold out worldwide).  It seems like once the safe was funded, the pursuit of flight took off quickly (no pun intended!).  The Kakapo is easily outpacing Bionicle now. It also looks like the particle accelerator could be catching up to Bionicle which would be interesting, but ultimately pointless as neither one will be in the top five it doesn’t look like.

As of ~1:30pm EDT, it looks like 4 of the sets have been fully funded and there's a clear favorite for #5:

    1) Castle (Sold out in ~35 minutes)
    2) Great Fishing Boat (Hit funding in ~1 hour and sold out within another couple hours)

    3) Safe (Hit funding not too long ago but seems to be chugging along toward selling out by this evening)
    4) Flight (Hit funding not too long ago. Also likely to sell out today.

    5) Kakapo (could hit funding sometime today or maybe tomorrow, but it's got a sizable lead on the other two)

    6) Bionicle
    7) Particle Accelerator (This might have gained ground on Bionicle and could pass it, but it won't matter. They're both done for.)

    EDIT: What KunFuKenny said! :)

Good points! I don't know why I'm so bad with scale sometimes, when it's so easy to count the studs and then compare to one of the sets I can reach by just rolling my desk chair to the left or right a few feet.

40 studs puts it at 1 1/4 modulars wide... Hmm... I'm going to need a bigger display space for my WV! The current space that's 30"x40" (sized for a 3x4 oval track) is not going to cut it once I have a chalet plus whatever other official WV set comes out this year!

With the fact that it's actually "officially" Lego selling these sets (Checkout through lego.com, you get VIP points, introductions are on the Lego app/website, and I assume Lego doing packaging and fulfillment too), this whole program is reminding me greatly of the old Lego Factory sets.

Sets designed by fan designers and sold through the Lego Factory brand (in this case, the Bricklink Designer Program).

I guess this is the first major effect I'm seeing of the Lego purchase of Bricklink. Of course there have been other smaller ones (VAT changes, listings, etc), but this is a pretty big change for the consumer, and a win in my book.

EDIT: I got in on the Fishing Boat. Looking forward to receiving it.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I got caught up in meetings and TOTALLY FORGOT the time pre-orders opened.  Missed the boat and the castle ;_;  At least I was able to get the others I wanted (although sadly I don't think the particle accelerator is going to make it :( )

I hope there’s not as much complaining this go-around as I thought the process worked much better than expected and was super fun.  And now we all know how it works for round 2.  It would obviously have been better if they let us know more quickly that jumping through S@H first would avoid the BL latency issue that unfortunately negatively affected a lot of folks.  And I’m not sure I understood well enough about regional limits which is confusing when watching the progress bar.  What’s most funny to me is that 41 day countdown clock that can be retired in less than 24 hours. Lol

Apparently, once the 5,000 is met, the set gets removed from S@H and your order summary converts the set name to a sku.
