Lego City 60228 Parts Question

EA4EA4 Member Posts: 4
My 5 yr old grandson is a huge Lego fan and I'm his benefactor:) In assembling the space rocket and boosters, he's had trouble getting the white booster caps to stay in place. The boosters are assembled according to the directions but the caps pop off too easily. It appears to be a design flaw but thought I'd check to see if anyone else has had this problem and found a way to resolve it. Thanks!

Which set is this? Perhaps #60228 or #60229? Although those might be a bit advanced for a 5 year old.

Are you talking about the white domes that go on the orange 4x4 round plates? I don't have #60228, but I have #75172 which has the same domes on yellow round plates. Make sure the notch on the dome lines up with the notch on the plate so that you have the friction between the inside rim of the dome and all eight outer studs of the plate. If you turn the dome slightly, so studs are lined up with the plate notches, then you only have four studs' worth of friction, and the dome is much looser, and easy to knock loose. I hope this helps!
