LEGO teases something

LEGO has posted a short video on Twitter that teases something that's being announced on 26th June.

Normally when we see things like this we have some idea what it is but this time I don't have a clue.

All I can suggest is that it relates to a lighting system that was teased at LEGO World Copenhagen last February.

View the video after the break then let us know what you think it could be.

It appears as though LEGO is pretty intent on entering just about every secondary or ancillary LEGO market...

I'm calling it right now: If it's lighting systems, the 2021 Winter Village building will include them in some fashion!

Maybe this will help some of the prices for "non-LEGO" lighting kits to come down just a bit?

And here I just spent over $300 on my first Light My Bricks products...
Working on the VW T1 for starters #10220
Pretty fiddly stuff, but I am having fun.
I really hope LEGO brings something worthwhile, but I bet it will be something that kids can easily implement in sets, and maybe not what I would want as an AFOL. But we will have to wait for another month... man I wish they would just stop these silly teasers (I know, generates hype) and just release a preview of the final product.

    *Except* baseplates!
Or chromed pieces, or realistic firearms...

Given the questionable results in the footwear, furniture and clothing, I'm not expecting this to be completely successful.

It’s obviously going to be a Lego nightclub guys, that’s clear.

I hear it’s light accessories for the LEGO Adidas shoes so that they will fit in Bigglek.

I've seen several sites saying this is teasing a sequel to LEGO Dimensions.

Eh... personally I'm really excited to see Lego's in-house take on a lighting system. I'm hoping they can come up with something slightly more self-contained and less fiddly than many of the third-party versions, which work well but often feel less like Lego and more like real-life wiring and electrical engineering (which, as far as the experience is concerned, is far less exciting or user-friendly).

Also, even for people who use third-party lights, Lego having their own could be beneficial if it leads to more sets being designed with lighting in mind (much like how sets designed to work with Power Functions can be easier to motorize than having to modify a set designed without motorization in mind to work with any sort of motor)

And... It's an online 'convention'. Lego Con seems asking for jokes.

Lego Con? Thought that was the black vip card etc etc

It's an interesting way of doing new product reveals etc though if it's anything like the Colosseum livestream I'll just wait for all the fan sites to reveal them all early...

Definitely not what anyone was expecting!

Haha “world-first reveals” sounds amazing, at least until some of them are probably leaked beforehand. I hope the UCS Republic Gunship is officially revealed at this event, and I guess there’s a chance we have to wait that long to know the other regular sets in the Summer Star Wars wave too. This rumoured huge expensive set of a similar price to the Colosseum could be revealed too.

26th of June is a Saturday at least - so should be good for European and American availability. Might be a bit late for our friends in the Far East or Down Under though if it’s 5pmGMT.

Meh, would rather have the lighting system or the Dimensions return. Unless there will be a lighting system which will be revealed during the whole thing they are doing. One would think it would be better to see LEGO spending all of their resources fixing their sad e-commerce site or their lousy VIP reward system and not holding a 'check us out' campaign, but whatever. Instead I guess we will get to see LEGO execs saying they 'understand' and nod a lot and not much, if anything will change. We do not need to have a LEGO convention to have this though.

An online 'con' is literally the least fresh idea.

I doubt they'll be announcing any video games, as that seems to have ground to a definitive halt.  We didn't even get a TLM2 Game!

I stand corrected.  And ironically, I completely forgot about an utterly forgettable game.

Hopefully the LEGO Skywalker Saga will be worth the wait, or I will have forgotten how much all of these games are exactly the same to care...

    I did enjoy 100%ing Marvel Superheroes 2.

DC Supervillains was fantastic. I'm really excited for Skywalker Saga as well. supposedly has Rogue One and Mando dlc as well as the 9 movies.

As long as you're not Sarah McLachlan sad about it, or PJ Harvey weird about it, I won't worry about you.

Lego have added various teasers to the Lego Con page now.

This one piqued my interest - but it’s likely that it’s the UCS Republic Gunship which we kind of already know about from the interviews/voting process but it could be the first time we see proper visuals.

There’s an interview with a Mojave game developer/designer for Minecraft and ‘a look at the latest sets’ for Super Mario. And more mysterious things around Technic and Harry Potter that could both be building challenges. Plus an interview with a real astronaut under the banner of City, which is slightly odd as the last City space subtheme was a couple of years ago.

Sorry I have no idea what was going on with the music references above so not going to contribute on that one ;)

Is it possible the above new set tease is actually the typewriter?
