Damaged store display- what to do?

Jackad7Jackad7 Member Posts: 555
About two months ago I came across a large (and I mean large, about 5 feet wide) display case online for the Fantasy Era castle sets. Seeing as how rare these display cases are and that I was unable to find pictures of this exact case anywhere I was pretty excited and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately when I got it, it had been decimated most likely in shipping, there were a lot of broken bricks and the case itself was completely trashed.  Ebay issued a refund as the seller did not want to have it shipped back at their expense given the size which is nice but now I have a 5foot display section I dont know what to do with. I threw out the case but I still have the sets although they are glued/bolted and haves some broken parts. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what to do with these? It has both #7093 and #7094. I was thinking of maybe seeing if a friend's child would like them or maybe some sort of charity given they probably would not care about broken parts. Would collectors still be interested in these out of the case? Just trying to make sure they aren't going to just get junked.

They still have play or display value. You might need to complete them if anything is missing and want to sell as a display item.

Photos? How many parts are broken and are any obscure parts broken? At a glance, those sets look to have some expensive pieces, BURPs, dragon pieces, minifig armor, exc.

I'm not sure how to safely remove snapped pieces when glued though. It may be tricky actually fixing it, even after sourcing the parts. Be careful not to cause further damage, especially to any expensive parts. It may even be possible to plastic weld larger parts back together (warning: toxic chemicals), as that may be how it was originally glued (if not using cyanoacrylate).

Sorry I meant to upload some originally but have been really busy with work. This is what it looks like. I attached examples of the type of breaks we are looking at. I'm not sure what type of glue they use but it seems pretty solid! Also note the bolts in the dragon, it seems like most major parts have these bolts as well so taking it apart doesnt seem overly lucrative.

Not as bad as I was imagining, I was expecting carnage. That one dragon is pretty messed up but it looks to be just missing the wings and tail (are there any broken pieces of the tail left?).

That other piece is not broken, it looks like something (a blue cone like the other one probably) just came unglued and fell off the jumper tile.
