“One per household”

I made several orders around Christmas to receive multiples of the ice skating rink for MOCs. I was told that they would only ship one per address. Does anyone know how long this policy has been in effect? I moved here from the United States and that was never the case there.  If you made separate orders meeting minimum qualifying purchases they would send as many GWPs as eligible orders unless they were out of supply.  Is this  a policy specific to Europe?

It has been the case for many years but rarely gers enforced. If they don't send what appears in the order, contact them and complain and return at their expense if they refuse to send what was ordered and appeared in the order confirmation.

Also worth noting that, you can’t take ia GWP out of your basket if you quality and i am sure they don’t want you placing only one order during a promotion period as sometimes that can be weeks and weeks.. i think the ice rink was a GWP for more than a month.

So, unsurprisingly, Lego’s web site prevents them from enforcing their own rule. But, I’m not sure how it could actually be enforced without more effort than it’s worth. Some kind of cookie maybe, but then people would just delete their cookies between orders or use multiple devices.

They could enforce free gifts are for VIPs only, and enforce one VIP account per person or household. Same inshore too. If they really wanted to.

Amazon has regular limits on items, I cannot imagine it is that hard to do this by address or CCard. I have seen the US site say 'one per household' and Im fairly certain they have had promos where that was adhered to (added another item to cart and it was not in the cart). I think LEGO is just lazy and do not want to have to update their already wonky site OR people complained that while it is one what if they have more than one kid for example and again they just have the limit but do not enforce it.

Honestly, there's good reasons for them not to have the one per household rule.  Everything from children/teenagers living with AFOL parents, to two FOL siblings in the same house, to adult families living together.  I think that makes is untenable to actually have a one per household limit for basically anything, since those situations are almost certainly going to outnumber the number of people that are creating multiple accounts to 'cheat' the system by a large amount.

That said, I do wish they would clarify the language and remove the one per household limit if they really are taking these things into consideration.  If they want to continue to have some limits, then they should have a one per account/one per VIP account or something similar, which is both easier to enforce and makes the above situations more avoidable.

100% this.  As with most toothless deterrents, it only works on those that likely wouldn't be violating the rules anyway.

If I’ve sent all but one of my extra GWPs to @SumoLego’s  house, does that mean I’m staying within the “one per household” boundaries?  :-)

I was torn on responses so I’m including them all.
    A) For some reason, this sounded nefarious.  Did Sumo make you an offer you couldn’t refuse? Lol
    2) I’m dying to know what happened to the one extra GWP that escaped.
    3) I hear LEGO is exploring a GWP Passport
    4) It would be ironic if LEGO tried to enforce a “one per household” rule on GWPs all the while they continue to try and sell my household the same Star Wars ships year after year after year.
    5) We’re going to need to look into renaming the marketplace in honor of Sumo.  I’m considering a poll.

In fact, I’m now convinced that he has carefully cultivated a vast worldwide network of AFOLs to obtain all of the GWPs for himself.  Authorities believe that (due to his extensive trading contacts) it entirely possible that @SumoLego has not purchased a set from Lego.com in the last 8 years. BTW, I have a couple extra Amelia Earhart sets and some Carrot Houses around here somewhere... :-)

    I'll take them!

I did mistakenly buy three Treehouses a couple of months ago, and ironically got no GWPs.

But were they LEGO Idea tree houses, or just some random tree houses in your Neighborhood?

    ^ I wouldn't know - I don't leave my house.

Is a treehouse a thing in real life?

But it was enforced against me. When the Skating Rink GWP became available again in January, I made another qualifying order specifically to get another skating rink.  They didn’t send it and when I called to ask why, the rep told me of the rule! She wouldn’t budge.

I gave my extra carrot house to my cousin's six-year-old boy- he loved it!

Odd, I ended up with 5 of them. Must be a reason for the disparity.

I know some of us are not close to a store, but they don't enforce it. With the vintage car I placed an order from [email protected], and went to a store to get one. While in the store I saw they Assembly Square in stock. While I was checking out with my other sets I asked if I'd bought AS if I could get a second car, and they said yes. I guess I'm lucky and can get to five LEGO Stores if I need to get more than two of the GWP.

Are they giving you the impression that they will actually deliver the back ordered one? I might call back and complain again bc the rep’s final justification for not sending another was that they were out of stock.
