LEGOS from mid-90s to the 2010s for sale

GortGort Member Posts: 5
I know that I'm brand new here so a sale thread is sketchy. I recently lost my job and I found a new job in another state. I've been casually collecting Legos since the late 90s, but my kids are old enough that they don't play with them any more and I don't have room for them. The collection is pretty big, but they are not sorted by set (sorry). I'd like to find someone near Atlanta so we can just meet up at a neutral location to make the transaction. Payment can be via PayPal since that's safer than cash. If I can't find a buyer for everything, I will probably use eBay (id: bonicelli). I plan to take photos of all the construction booklets tomorrow. I also have no idea what this is worth or how I should sell it on eBay if that's the route I need to take so I would appreciate any advice.

Like that baseplate pile! You may want to spread out a photo of the instruction books, particularly the larger ones as that will help perspective buyers know what they are getting.

Agreed - you have some great potential there, but I see at least one pic with clone brand pieces (Kreo, etc) so you will want to clean that out if possible...

Will second this.  Any evidence of off-brand pieces will seriously hurt the resale value of the lot.  Like, it may halve or worse your prospective final sale price, so assuming the off-brand pieces aren't a huge percentage and you can sort them easily, then it's almost certainly worth your time to pull those pieces out.

Thanks everyone. I do have some Kreo sets - mostly the Transformers sets. I'll post the booklet photos in a few minutes.

Definitely looks like you have some good stuff in there! Unless you just way over price yourself, I don't think you'll have too hard of a time finding a buyer.

We have the parts and figures for every set that is pictured. Unfortunately, they are mixed up in all the different bins. There may be some missing pieces here and there, but the vast majority are included and they are in good condition. They're not dirty or dusty or broken. This is a fantastic lot of stuff for someone with a love of Lego and patience.

I really must look back at some of these in the archives, some great looking stuff from my dark ages there.

Judging by the manuals you have some great stuff in there.  If it were me, I would derive great pleasure in cleaning and re-assembling all of the sets from the huge pile of parts.  You definitely would make more money if you at least are able to find all the pieces for some of the high dollar sets and sell them separately ( I’m looking at the Pirates and Castle sets, along with Sail n’ Fly Marina, and maybe the Aquazone sets as well).  Good luck!

    ^ I agree - you'll much better selling complete sets w/instructions than a mish-mash.

Thanks for your advice. If I had the time, I would sell complete sets on eBay. I know there are some that are quite valuable, but I can't do it. I just want to sell everything as is and I'm hoping they will go do someone who loves Lego. I guess I'll just post it on NextDoor or Craig's List if nobody on this forum wants them.

I’m not the most experienced AFOL but KungFuKenny and SumoLego sure are. You should really reconsider their advice. I would think you would make $1000s more reassembling the sets before selling ? Plus you would have a year of getting to put together some awesome sets and you wouldn’t have to buy any newer sets for another year and that would also save you a bunch of money! Win, win!

It sounds like OP doesn't want to move it all to another state, so needs to get rid of it now. If I had the money that collection is worth, I'd drive to Atlanta to get it! (But it wouldn't fit in my car.)
