Even Piell Minifigure Question

We’ve been trying to figure out why our Even Piell Mini-figure has a face stamped onto the back of the headpiece.   It’s on the Mohawk part.  We’ve contacted Lego and they have said it was not done while manufactured but we bought the set new and have not modified it.  Does anyone else have the same figure?  Can you check if yours has the face stamp on it to?

This is one of my favourite Star Wars minifigure details ever as Even Piell's hair clasp displays a carved face during Star Wars: The Clone Wars! Apologies for the poor quality of this image but Disney+ does not allow screenshots:

I read both entries about him on Wookieepedia but neither one had any insight. Such an interesting mystery. Now I wish I too owned this figure.
