    Indeed!
Yes, sale starts at midnight, I advise being there on midnight too, credit card in hand because the popular sets sell out so fast that it is absolutely ridiculous ( literally in minutes)
The promotion usually carries over1-2 days, but sale starts midnight May 3rd, or 12:01 am on May 4th.

The 2011 discounts were 10% and 20% off a select few sets, and nowhere near as good as 50%. The Shadow ARF trooper that was free with $75 purchase was the best part of the promotion since it fetches approximately $25.

The discounts have been declining year-to-year. Hopefully this year is at least as good as last year :/

Here are the brickset article about the May the 4th promotion from previous years:

Yes, last years discounts were pathetic.. I remember seeing the prices, and getting off Lego.com a few minutes later because they were so bad. It was years past which were much better, probably should have updated that in my post.

Yea, I know that story. I've heard it so many times. Now if only [email protected] could give a 75% off discount to me on one of my purchases. :)

Puzzles me as to why one of these just went on eBay for $270 + $30 shipping.

2 days ago one went for $190 + $18 shipping which makes sense. But why pay more than retail when this is readily available on Lego.com?

People do crazy things on eBay.
    1. They get caught up in the bidding war, and just HAVE to win the item.
    2. They bid to high, with no knowledge of what the set is really worth.. thinking that eBay is the most reliable source out there as a price guide for sets.

Not always, but sometimes it's because the seller offers international shipping to a country that LEGO doesn't ship to. So it's one of the only ways a buyer can obtain a given set. So it's worth more than retail to them.

^ makes sense. ^^ I know the bidding war 'gotta have it' fever all too well. Thankfully cooler heads prevail more often than not.

    Thanks.

I have been eyeing this set but $259.99 seems high. I have no problem waiting. I just worry about them retiring it before it goes back on sale. Any idea if this set will be retired soon?

You and me both, but I'm sure we'll hear about that in advance and be able to snap up one of the last ones. I figure worst case scenario my credit card will have to accept the costs short term ;-)

Will this be a worldwide event or just for the US?
