Lego railway

Hi All
I bought a railway sometime ago but want to develop it. The first thing I want to do is upgrade the battery to rechargeable. Can anyone advise me if this battery will fit please?
Thank you. The other question I would like to ask is about compatible sets. I don't have a lot of money and I would like to buy track, is there a cheaper track that I can buy please?

    I'd buy genuine lego track, second hand if needs be, when you can.

    If you can join a LUG (Lego User Group) then LUGBulk is by far the cheapest way to get genuine Lego track.
