Regrets - Build and Smash

Do you have any regrets about building something before smashing it for parts, then smashing that for more parts, before you realize that you wanted the original set back and that all the parts were mixed up in a sea of LEGO - and that they weren't coming back?

I have two such regret stories - Vladek's Castle and the Batcave. Both were on display when I got a stroke of sudden inspiration and needed just a few of the parts for something quick. But by the time I'd realized what incredible thing I'd just smashed, all the parts were lost or mixed up in more important creations. What are your regrets?

Yes, that happened to me was the 7744 City Police Station (Old one) I managed to build it about 2 weeks ago. But I had to replace some pieces with different colors.
Its very frustrating looking for all the pieces.

Oh.. You have no idea... Almost all of my old Lego sets are in various boxes, all mixed up... It's sad. Wish I never had done that as a kid.

yeah, with me it was the 8 year old in me, most of the sets never recovered, athough some really cool undocumented creations came out of them

and now the current me has begun the great lego ressusitation

Yep. As a teenager I thought it would be a good idea to save storage space and dump all my Lego into one bin, since I wasn't currently playing with it anyway. This year I got back into Lego and realized how foolish that was. It took weeks to separate it back into sets and made my bedroom floor a giant hazard. Nightmare!

I did the exact same thing, @wander099! It took foreverrrr to separate them back into the original sets. I’m so happy to have them all together again, but wow, what a huge pain it was.
