Not sure on Lego store stocks, but local retailers around here just can't seem to keep them in. Most locals have been completely cleaned out of Avengers sets several times over. I was at one store the other night that only had a lone Captain America set and a couple Quinjets on the shelves. They had space for the rest, but were sold out.

I'm sure these sets will be available everywhere soon. Sucks for those that have to wait though. Stay on it.

Finished the hulk, cap america and wolverine sets this week. Still have Loki's Coamic Cube to build. Been loving these sets. Initially wasn't going to bother with the Quinjet but after seeing the movie I realize it'a a must.

^The movie was spectacular wasn't it? The set doesn't do the Quinjet justice, but will do for now until a UCS one comes along (in my dreams). Wishing they would dare do a UCS anything for the Super Heroes line. Can you imagine a UCS Helicarrier at 4,000+ pieces?
  • neomonkeyneomonkey Member Posts: 82
They did a UCS Batmobile so it's not out of the question.
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
The Batmobile was/is vastly more iconic than any other potential Marvel vehicle/ship that I can think of. There may be something I'm overlooking though.

Yes, yes, oh my god YES! I entirely agree with each and every word in this post.

I want a Stark Tower set, all kitted out to recreate the final scenes of the film with a nice Arc Reactor in the bottom somewhere and big lettering across one face that reads: "STARK". Perhaps throw in a bar area and at the other side whack up an awesome Stark-style holographic computer array.

    Hulk.... Smash!

The only marvel vehicles I can think of would be the X-Men's blackbird, the fantastic 4's pod thingy that splits into 4, and spider-man's car (yes it did exist), so nothing really iconic to pick from there. A giant sentinel or Professor X mansion would be a much more interesting prospect.
  • CoolsplashCoolsplash Member Posts: 935
@BrickDancer, seeing a UCS Helicarrier would be so very cool and definitely my very first UCS set :) Currently having fun with Marvel Avengers game on Facebook as it shows a amazing Helicarrier and imagining that made in Lego is brilliant. But we can keep wishing yes :P

But these sets are selling so quick everywhere. Love prices on those $20 ones.

    I'd be all over a 4K-piece X-mansion.

Does anybody know whether any of those gold pieces on the "chariot" are unique to these Avengers sets?

I don't think so, but check inventories at bricklink.

    ^^^ Same here.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
A decent X-mansion would be a lot more than 4k pieces. Take into account that just making a decent looking Mansion would be more than the typical modular and then add in that it would have to have a couple basement rooms with cerebro and then of course a jet as well. I'm guessing you couldn't do it justice for under 8k pieces. Either way I'd want it =)
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
^ They could easily, and probably more realistically, spilt the cerebro, mansion and jet into 3 seperate sets.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
True. But personally I don't think the mansion alone isn't important at all to the theme unless it has the basement section as a part of it. It would be less design needed to just make a cerebro set with an additional room attached that was the medical lab area and maybe the suit display area and forgo the mansion all together.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
It would probably end up more like the heli carrier set.
  • DavidBrickleyDavidBrickley Member Posts: 376
The X-mansion needs a Danger Room, otherwise, what's the point?

Just finished reading a rather glowing review for the Quinjet. Looks like I'll be picking it up soon.

While a danger room and Xavier's mansion would be cool... I'm a little doubtful we'll see them in any sort of capacity as a modular set. We can dream though.

I am pretty excited to see some more X-Men sets down the road. A nice 700+ piece Blackbird set with BEAST on it. Xavier and his hover chair.

I'm sure there are more X-Men movies in the works but I have no idea when any of them are slated for a release.

I'm guessing the Avengers sets are doing very well along with how widely successful the movie has been. It makes sense to release the superheroe sets along w/ a movie release, but I hope they don't fall exclusively into that release strategy. So far that hasn't been the case. But I'm sure TLG is seeing huge numbers of avengers sets flying off the shelves.

^I have all the same on my 'wish list', with a toss up between Xavier and Wayne Mansion. Beast & Nightcrawler, need those blue boys to show up sooner or later. But personally itching for a Gambit & Cable. How about a chromed out Colossus?

The next X-Men movie is 'The Wolverine' slated for next year. But its coming out of 20th Century Fox, so not sure how the licensing comes into play. Direct from Marvel Studios will be Ironman 3 and Thor 2, in 2013. So its actually a pretty light schedule of releases for the near future. But there will be Spiderman upcoming soon to hold us over. Not to mention a possible Batman wave to tie with the movie release. However its coming out next month and there hasn't been even a rumor or peep about it so not holding my breath.

I'm assuming it was the FBTB review - he sure liked the set !

I just got back from watching the movie a few minutes ago, and I can see why he was so complimentary - it's a very decent rendition of the Quinjet. I can even excuse the lack of rotors as the overall shape just looks "right".

    Great movie, incidentally !

The Deadpool movie as well as a planned x-men 4 are slated for 2014 so im sure there will be more sets coming.

Not to mention Iron 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2.

I hope by 'X-Men 4' you actually mean a sequel to First Class. Even though I loved X-Men and X2... X3 was an abysmal disaster of a movie. Any potential X-Men 4 would need to somehow completely disregard the existence of X3.

Incidentally, though I enjoyed The Avengers, it's a big pet peeve of mine when a movie exists SOLELY to set up a sequel... which I believe is what happened there.

Anywho... as long as I get Gambit, Rogue, Nightcrawler and Apocalypse... I'll be completely good with the Super Heroes line. Though a Sentinel set would be nice... and probably a brilliant move by LEGO, on account of I'd buy dozens of them myself. And I assume so would many others.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Not sure about the X-men movie. I saw it referenced somewhere as X-men 4 which would imply a next in the original series, which might see professor X come back in the body he transferred his consciousness to at the end of 3. Which I could see being a possibility and even have Patrick Stewart in it with the reasoning being that he "projects" the image of his previous body to the people around him.

But the "unnamed sequel" listed on IMDB has the First class Mystique actress listed as the only person so far. But there is no reason they couldn't do a #4 with her as well. Either way I'll be happy that they do more.

Just checked out Amazon. The Cosmic Cube Set that I just got in the mail today and paid $20 for is now $38? Wow.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
Thats just what happens when it goes out of stock. It is just an amazon marketplace seller not Amazon itself. When it comes back in stock it'll be back to normal price.

I definitely love these sets, and I have the Chopper Showdown and Captain America sets currently(will buy the Hulk set sooner or later). The Captain America set you can find anywhere. The Chopper Showdown was very difficult to find, as my local Lego store was sold out, as well as Toys 'R Us, Walmart, Target, etc. I finally found one at a Meijer's, after a 6 hour search. I can't wait for the Spiderman set.
  • SpaceCakeSpaceCake Member Posts: 291
Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape just can't stick on the shelves round here. Since the movie really skyrocketed I've yet to see one on the shelves in any of the local toyshops. I think it is by far the most popular set, due to it's price and minifigure selection. Definitely want to pick up the Quinjet this weekend! I'm getting overwhelming Lego-lust for it.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,170
Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape was out in the UK for all of a week before it sold out - it has been difficult to get for over 2 weeks now. It sold out in Argos first as they were selling it for 75% of RRP as their normal price.

It's funny, tomorrow the Hulk-Promo starts, and over here (Germany)the Avenger sets still ain't out yet! That means i can get a promo-Hulk but not the one from the set! Ah yeah and the Avengers-movie is out for a couple of weeks now but no sets on the shelfs! Sorry TLG,stupid move!
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks Member Posts: 1,367
The cosmic cube jeep has an Iron Man. Pretty much explains it right there. I bought a few and parted them out with the Iron Man alone going for about $16. If Hawkeye and Loki didn't show up in so many other sets they probably would pull a bit more as well. Selling off the trucks has been a bit harder though.

Honestly, all of the $20 sets for the Super Heroes line are just great. They have good figures and are overall fun little builds. I've done all three now and have been very happy with each of them. Although, I still don't quite understand why Deadpool's swords are supposed to clip to the wings of his chopper.

Hopefully the Iron Man fig will go the same direction as the Batman figs, with many variations. That should help move all the different sets he could be in. So far we only have MarkVI and MarkVII. Wishing they would make I - V (and a War Machine), even if as just promos.

MarkI = Crude version (Afghanistan scene in Part 1)
MarkII = All Silver version/War Machine upgrade (Iced booster scene in Part 1)
Mark III = First Red/Gold version with circle-Arc reactor (Last suit in Part 1)
Mark IV = Basic Armor (First suit in Part II)
Mark V = Portable-Briefcase Armor (Monaco Race/Whiplash scene in Part II)
Mark VI = Triangle-Arc reactor (Last Suit in Part II/First Suit in Avengers)
Mark VII = Circle-Arc reactor (Last suit in Avengers)

It would be pretty sweet if they made a Silver Age Iron Man (Mark 2) in chrome gold. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Goldenironman.jpg

Between the comic and movies, Lego has dozens of Iron Man armor to pick from. I just hope we get a few more.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
Unless we see a 'classics' line (which if you're listening TLG, would be EPIC! Classic Avengers, classic X-Men) I'm guessing the sets and figs will stick fairly closely to the Marvel film sequels and the cartoon releases for Spider-Man.

These prices makes that Toys R US Easter booboo even more enjoyable. :D

^Hi Toki! Wasn't that the best premiere weekend release party for Brickset members? You had a real nice haul from what I remember. Everyone was making online/in-store orders like a drunken sailor.

The $20 licensed sets seem to be great deals in general, both for people who like the minifigs and for those wanting to part them out. If you want some nice minifigs, the $20 sets usually have a great selection. If you just want some great bricks, you can make most of your money back on the Wolverine set by selling off the minifigs, and the figs from the jeep or Shelob in LotR will actually net you a small profit - and leave you with a pretty nice array of parts.

LOL. Then I was making online and in store orders like a drunken navy! They're just sitting quietly in my Lego room.

@dougts said to me last week, "So, you don't sell your sets, you don't MoC, you don't even build half of them. You just hoard!!"

    Guilty.

At least you pick the most awesome sets to build, like the huge spear on the coffee table.

That Quinjet set looks very unappealing, especially after watching the review video. Ill probably just get the cheaper sets for a few figures.

*I actually would've much preferred it in chrome-red to be honest.

is it fake .. doesn't look like it ?
  • JohnnyfinlandiaJohnnyfinlandia Member Posts: 358
Just looked carefully and is probably fake as the Iron Man 'M' is different to the other two M's so is probably from the Hulk .. shame really :(
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
It's fake, it was over other websites the other day. Though maybe TLG could take some ideas for a future chrome red/gold iron-man (would have made more sense than an actual hulk minifig).
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
The reflections are wrong too. If you look at the TC-14 here (look at the posed one, not the standing one):
    http://stores.lego.com/en-us/Brighton/events.aspx

In particular look at the reflection caused by the right hand on the waist and torso. Now look at the Iron Man one. Why is the reflection still there on the waist when the arm is much higher? There should also be more chrome missing from the upper part of the lego when it is bent like that - again compare to the bare patch on the TC-14 which results from the painting of the figure.
