Nothing earth-shattering IMHO, but a couple of interesting vehicles and desirable minifgs.

I wonder if Iron Man's head bobbles. :o)
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 4,002
I know these are prototypes but I've seen more convincing customs. If it wasn't on Marvel's website I'd be crying 'fake!'

They're still keeping the 2nd part of the captain America set confidential, depending on what it features will make or break this set as a must buy for me.

Iron Man still looks ridiculous with his massive head :p

I've had a look at the new pictures doing the rounds on the net, and on all the marvel boxes it says 'play builder included' above the mini-figs! Anybody tell me what this is????
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
Umm -not as much wow factor as the Batman stuff but we will see. I assume at least one of the yet to be revealed figs with Captain America must be Red Skull, probably a Bucky Barns as well (I hope), but i do hope there is a Nick Fury fig somewhere on the slate, maybe an as yet unknown set like the Jokers funhouse was pre the DC release?

Not as great as I thought. But hopefully like 'andhe' said, they're not quite done and are prototypes.
Like Loki's helm though and the Hulk needs purple pants!
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
So far, these look only slightly less 'meh' than the DC sets. I'm no fan of The Avengers to begin with, but I feel the sets they could have done based off the comic book would have been A LOT cooler than movie tie-ins. And just like the Batman minifig... Iron Man's helmet looks pretty bad... probably even worse since he has no cape to offset it.

I'll be the naysayer and say I'm tired of seeing the Marvel franchise in every form of media, at least Star Wars has vehicles going for them in Lego.
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
I think I'll probably just get Captain America. Despite what my nickname says, it's unrelated to the comics :) I feel that the sets and vehicle are too modern looking.. They should have gone for a more "Asgardian" look IMHO, atleast for Thor & Loki.

I'm sticking to X-Men and Spidey sets myself... I'm hoping to get a nice roster of X-Men before the line runs its course.

Or dear, more expense looming :)

Its hard to guess how they are going to develope these until the film is out. They seem to be very film based so far.

Anyone know anything about these figures? I'm trying to figure out if there are only 125, or a lot more as I have them and am trying to decide what to do with them. Anyone at the Toy Fair that can give me some info?
    Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! I like all the minifigs, except Hawkeye. I hope they come out with a comic version of him since he is more iconic. Less than a month and these will be mine.

Looks like he has a reversible head as well, with shades on one side. Interesting that Iron Man has his visor flipped up in all the pictures.

Not really sold on the baddies look and design of their shuttle thingies though.
  • legoDadlegoDad Member Posts: 529
^Atlanteans....hmmmm...interesting. Namor can't be far behind then.
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
I can't help thinking we haven't seen everything Avengers related just yet. The first super heroes wave had 6 models, this wave only shows 5 and there are 3 spare numbers in the model ID's between the last Avengers set 6869 and the Spiderman set 6873. I wonder, can we expect a few surprises? I thought this earlier but on seeing everything now there really are some key figures missing (Nick Fury, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, Maria Hill) all of which will figure prominently in the movie. I guess it won't be long until we know one way or the other.

    @andhe - Thanks!

These sets look amazing. I'm really impressed with Ironman's helmet as well. The quinjet also looks great.

    @Yellowcaste - I still think their skrull.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
@monkey_roo - I'd have thought there'll be at least one we haven't heard of yet. Funhouse escape was a great, late surprise to the DC sets, wasn't it?
  • monkey_roomonkey_roo Member Posts: 1,411
@lostintranslation - I hope so. Just checked on brickepedia and they list the spiderman set as having an April release date, which would mean this is a wave of six sets. But with the two missing numbers in the sequence I'm going to hope for something.

They look more like Kree than Skrulls... however, they may be Atlanteans. Hey! An Atlantis tie in.

These are neat! Also: just realizing how well this theme works with the City theme.
    Thanks.

Loving the figs and their accessories, especially the bow & arrow (need for my Rambo minifig). Just wish they wouldn't double up on Loki and Hawkeye in sets.
  • OdinduskOdindusk Member Posts: 763
Loving Deadpool. Easily one of my favorite comic characters.

so what other characters do you think we will be seeing? Odin? Bruce Banner, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Bullseye, Dr. Doom, Silver Surfer, Cyclops, Sabertooth, I see a Galactus build like the Buzz LY and Zod
  • legoDadlegoDad Member Posts: 529
^I'd say yeah...all of the above you mentioned and more! I want a Red Skull fig. and Hydra Battle Packs (from the films) with their tanks and cool weaponry.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
I can't exactly figure out why, but I feel like Super Heroes (DC and Marvel) don't excite me. When I heard the news about LEGO getting the license I was so excited I couldn't believe it, but after seeing the DC sets, I only bought one, then after seeing the Marvel sets, I probably will only buy the Deadpool set.

And nice try by LEGO trying to disguise the CMF series space pistol thing. I'm so sick of that weapon haha. But I bet its here to stay, much like the lego revolver.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
How about Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, Jubilee, Professor X, Phoenix, Cable, Havok? Those are just the good guys to choose from. The list of potential good characters are endless for Superheroes theme once they expand past Batman and Avengers.
  • gsy971gsy971 Member Posts: 100

  • vwong19vwong19 Member Posts: 1,191

Just wanted to say that I saw the Avengers movie today! Not sure why Latin American release was the 27th but I have to say that it is an amazing movie and so many sets that I hope they can release from several scenes!! Will love to see the Stark Building as an Example or the Carrier!!
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,142
Hi. Lego have already released the Avengers sets these can be found on the front page of the website. They do include a small section of the hellicarrier :-)
  • dodianododiano Member Posts: 72
I know the sets have been released! what I meant is I hope they get even more sets out! That Aircraft carrier on this movie is amazing!! :D

The smaller sets from the Avengers line have proven very hard to find locally (at least at RRP). Chopper Showdown is also non-existent just about everywhere. I imagine demand in the US will skyrocket after this weekend.
  • DeadareusDeadareus Member Posts: 264
Plenty of all of these sets available in Boston at the Burlington Lego store this past weekend. I picked up everything with the exception of the Quinjet. Not really a big fan of that set. Hopefully the movie will change my mind on this.

My son has been constantly asking me about the Marvel sets, as he is a rather big fan of the Avengers, and he's had his eye on the Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape set for a while now. The unfortunate thing is, NONE of our nearby stores have ANY of the later Avengers sets. They have Hulk's Helicarrier Break out and Captain America's Avenging Cycle, but both 20$ sets (Loki's Cosmic Cube and Wolverine's Chopper) are always out of stock! Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, you name it, they either say out of stock or not carried. We have asked employees and checked online, yet, the sets are just not in stock!

After receiving the LEGO Club magazine in the mail, we both saw that on the back cover it showed the Avengers Hero-Factory-ish sets, and below it read "May 2012". Could this mean that the second wave of Avengers sets will be released this month? I'll keep checking my local stores, but I am wondering: Have any of you guys had problems with this?
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ the two $20 sets have been very hot items. good price point, good minifigures, and highly desired colors as well (dark blue and dark red). Keep at it.

find out what day is shipment/restocking day at your local stores, and try to hit the store mid-morning on those days. Or order online through Lego - they are all availble, and if you hit $75 you get free shipping and free chrome Star Wars figure as well.
  • yys4uyys4u Member Posts: 1,093
Yea I was able to get those 2 sets pretty early to their release. But today I went to my local LEGO store and they said they've been sold out for a while and they sell really quick. Since your friend is a huge fan of avengers you should tell him the Chopper has nothing to do with avengers and then you'll only have one set to track down :)

But Yea, I agree with above, find out when your store gets their shipments, get there early and pick them up.

Wanted to pick the entire line up last night and my AWESOME LEGO Store in Queens, NY was sold out of the ENTIRE LINE! Bad for me but good for the store that they have a product they can't keep in stock. ILUGNY is planning on drafting out the Loki's Cosmic Cube/SHIELD Pick Up Truck set on the 19th. Hope they get these back inn stock before then.
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
@bmwlego you missed them by a day or two (helicarrier and quintet, at least). I need those and the chopper but have the truck and 3 of the capt America sets... Great seeing you yesterday!

So the movie's been out in the U.S. for about a week and is raking in the dough. I've tried to be patient but I am losing ground. Where is my Nick Fury exclusive set?!?! :o)
  • murphquakemurphquake Member Posts: 651
Lego has completely dropped the ball on this. Avengers is the biggest movie in the world and you would never know they have a licensing deal. The Queens NYC Lego Store has ZERO Avengers sets, and absolutely ZERO advertising... right next door the Disney store has half their windows taken up with huge Avengers decals and so does the kids clothing shop next to that. Every time I go there kids come in and leave disappointed. The Manhattan store (Rockefeller Center) is a little better in that they actually had 3 of 4 of the sets (didn't see the Cosmic Cube set but they did have the Wolverine Chopper). This is a huge opportunity for them to get new Kid and Adult FOLs in droves, especially if they'd made sure those posters were in every theater.

@Yellowcastle you and me both ;-)
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Why advertise if you're already selling out? If you pull in possible new customers with windows full of advertising for items you are out of stock of you are likely to put off more people than gain them.
