Removing minifigs from collection (knowingly purchased a used set with missing minifigs)

I know you can zero out an owned "loose" minifig to remove it. Is there a way to remove minifigs that are added automatically when you add an owned set?   Thanks

@Huw, that suggestion is great for simply knowing whether one has the figs for a set, but I think @aeromoe means how can you prevent BS from assuming you have the minifigs from a set and adding them to your minifig collection?

Checking that box does both: an aide memoir to you that the figures are missing and a signal to the code not to include them when next determining your minifig collection from the sets you own.
