Brick colors - Matching reality

I’m trying to MOC my home I live in. But I want to color match the LEGO as easily as possible to the colors on the House. I’d like to walk around with a virtual color palette (like on my iPhone) and be able to flip through available LEGO colors and quickly see which color is right for each part of the house. 

I thought about going to BrickLink and trying to one by one open up a new tab for the most likely, but that’s klunky and not easily repeatable. 

Thoughts?

And just be careful you don't pick an expensive colour!

I'm not sure why anyone hasn't suggested this. Get a baseplate, put a load of bricks on it in different colours, and walk round the house with it.

Sure you probably don't have rare colours to put on it, but you probably don't want to use those anyway as they'll cost you a fortune to buy.

@560Heliport i liked your idea (I’m from MN myself but am in AZ now). 

These are pics this morning from the front, the back, and a closeup of the wall. It’s sunny in the back and shady in the front now. 

I’m thinking Tan for the house but that doesn’t match with the link @CCC gave. Maybe Dark Red for the roof? Although I need slopes for that...

As somebody from the UK, your house just screams "Breaking Bad" to me…

I like Sand Yellow (dark tan) for the sides, with Brick Yellow (tan) for the corners on the front. For the roof, dark red or reddish brown. You could use plates for the roof; the studs would an easy (cheap) way to replicate the texture of your roof. (I'm a fan of visible studs- after all, they're the very basis of the LEGO system.)

Same here, I'd go dark tan and then the lighter tan for the corners. If you want more than simple plates or slopes for the roof, then you can get dark red cheese slopes reasonably easily although you'd need a lot.

I'm not sure what to do for the white range finder on the roof though!

It looks more like a white lightsaber hilt to me.

sand red probably most closely matches the roof but availability of parts may make that harder.

I'd say Dark Tan for the walls, Tan for the wall corners, and Medium Nougat for the roof.

I went and looked up all those colors. I think I’ll go with the dark tan and light tan for the walls and dark red/reddish brown For the roof. And yeah, the studs on top look would shoe the roof tile texture better than just plain slopes. I’ll go with that.
I’ve plotted the horizontal dimensions on Duckingham Design paper (www.duckingham.com) using the building’s dimensions. Next is to plot the vertical dimensions. 

I’m using a ratio of one stud = 2.5 feet, which allows the house to be on its own 32x32 plate. I haven’t decided yet if I will do the full yard and pool or not. Maybe that’s next after the house is done...

Just use a grey 48x48 baseplate, and the yard is done! ;-)

Me too!  I felt a sudden urge to throw a pizza on the roof.

I think this is a close as you’ll get with current commonly available colors...

I've seen roofs done similar to yours with upside down part 10247, though it appears the closest you could get in color would be red.
