Hi everyone,
Brand new to the forum as I have recently rediscovered my love for LEGO. I dug out all my old sets from my childhood to show my kids and get them interested in something other than an iPad. Anyways, I have a bunch of old pirate sets without instructions. The LEGO website doesn’t have any manual pre-1996, and I was hoping someone could help. Thanks!!

You can go to the page for virtually any set on Brickset, click the tab for instructions, and you'll get a list of websites that have scans of those instructions for that set. Very, very rarely will instructions not be available.

Swooshable is aggregator site for instructions.  It's under the instructions tab here on Brickset.

Yes, Swooshable provides our data. A lot of them are indeed on but it has a terrible interface so it's usually easier to find them here.
