Seems to look neat (although its a bit small) and may increase in value once its EOLed.

It was that price on Amazon recently as well. Now it's up to $111.99 with 3rd party sellers. I'm guessing if they get a batch in then it'll be back down to $79.

Thanks for the info, I ordered one at this price point.

If you go to Walmart.com via the Discover Card website (requires a DC, of course) you get an extra 5% off (reward points, that is) if you pay with the DC. Strange, but the set is $99 in the store. Was just there. Came home and ordered a set for in store pickup. It was available for me to get within 30 minutes. So, I guess they just took one off the shelf or in the store whse and sold it to me. I don't fully understand the Walmart.com vs Walmart store thing. :-) I figure it will go up in value when it is retired, although that isn't why I got the set. Probably better sets to buy for a ROI than the BP.

Thanks for the heads-up on this, was debating when the time was right for picking one of these up. Have one waiting for me at Wally World tomorrow. :-p

Been to many Walmarts where they are $74 in store. Costco had them at $79. Walmart.com had them at $79 before Christmas. Legoland $75. As someone mentioned, Amazon just recently had them at the same price point. Most people can get them at a Lego Store for %15 off. If you were really lucky, you picked them up at Walmart at 50% off.

Point is, its not a steal, no better than its been, but if you don't have any its probably a good point to pick up a few.

wait the pearl will be 50 bucks in the next 2 months. There are hundreds of these things sitting on shelves at walmart and target the QAR is a way better ship. I also believe if they make a new movie that they will redo the black pearl and make it some type of collectors editon

strange as its the opposite here in germany, lego [email protected] sold out week before xmas and they were changing hands for 150 euro - 50% over list

lego now have them back in but still selling over list price

True, they made tons of these, but I still think it will appreciate well. It's the most iconic thing from the movies.

It is very unique being all black. Should be valued by MOC builders as well.

Plus all the pirate ships have done well.

I still have mine MISB and tempted to crack it open. Got it for $100 with shipping to me :) But I might get another one and then would be fun to play with it. I heard somewhere that another new ship will be released in POC Universe.

    Costco had them at $79.
Many had them at $59, I got a whole bunch and am questioning the wisdom there since everywhere I go I see piles and piles of them going unsold at upwards of ~25% off.

    ^^ I doubt it, as
Alien Conquest, Harry Potter and PotC 'exit' in July...

Where are you finding them at 25%+ off? Wouldn't mind picking up a few. Checked Wal-Marts over the last several weeks, but mine were all RRP.

I know many got it for under 60 USD. But getting Lego in the US region is too easy compared to what people like me from the secondary market have to go through. And the prices go way up.

@pcirone Heard of that $59 price but never came across it. I feel like they definitely produced a ton of these but feel it will still do well once they are gone -- especially given the relatively short life of the line.

However, given its PIRATE, I am biased :P

^agreed. Pirates has a huge adult fan base, and especially with its exclusive black hull pieces, this will be a set that people will still buy once retired. I have one now and plan to buy maybe 2 more before they're gone, just for a rainy day.
